Star Jones had quite a bit to say to resident asshole Bill O’Reilly on his statements about Michelle Obama:

“I’m sick to death of people like Fox News host, Bill O’Reilly, and his ilk thinking that he can use a racial slur against a black woman who could be the next First Lady of the United States, give a half-assed apology and not be taken to task and called on his crap.

What the hell? If it’s ‘legit,’ you’re going to ‘track it down?’ And then what do you plan to do? How dare this white man with a microphone and the trust of the public think that in 2008, he can still put the words ‘lynch and party’ together in the same sentence with reference to a black woman; in this case, Michelle Obama? I don’t care how you ‘spin it’ in the ‘no spin zone,’ that statement in and of itself is racist, unacceptable and inappropriate on every level.

O’Reilly claims his comments were taken out of context. Please don’t insult my intelligence while you’re insulting me. I’ve read the comments and heard them delivered in O’Reilly’s own voice; and there is no right context that exists. So, his insincere apology and “out-of-context” excuse is not going to cut it with me.

And just so we’re clear, this has nothing to do with the 2008 presidential election, me being a Democrat, him claiming to be Independent while talking Republican, the liberal media or a conservative point of view. To the contrary, this is about crossing a line in the sand that needs to be drawn based on history, dignity, taste and truth. Bill, I’m not sure of where you come from, but let me tell you what the phrase ‘lynching party’ conjures up to me, a black woman born in North Carolina . Those words depict the image of a group of white men who are angry with the state of the own lives getting together, drinking more than they need to drink, lamenting how some black person has moved forward (usually ahead of them in stature or dignity), and had the audacity to think that they are equal. These same men for years, instead of looking at what changes, should and could make in their own lives that might remove that bitterness born of perceived privilege, these white men take all of that resentment and anger and decide to get together and drag the closest black person near them to their death by hanging them from a tree — usually after violent beating, torturing and violating their human dignity. Check your history books, because you don’t need a masters or a law degree from Harvard to know that is what constitutes a ‘lynching party.’

Go head Star.  We know that was a lot but there is more….Click here for Star’s Open Letter to Bill O’Reilly in its entirety.

  • MarieDaGuru

    She’s on point.

Everybody wanna hoop and holla Amen if it were Jesse or Al.

I don’t care how f’d up she look and how gaylord her husband is we need to all stand together when it’s an issue of civil rights and liberties.

Sometimes writing and boycotting is better than all the marching and loud annoying award show speeches. (I’m talking to you Kanye)

Well i care ^^^.Well spoken Star. @ Bill O “racist” Rielly.. Fear of a black planet.

  • Dannie Fresh

This is what’s wrong with the state of Black America. More disturbing than O’Reilly’s comments are the comments/reactions to Star Jones’ open letter. WTF does this have to do with her personal life???? SMDH … backwards azz negroes. Maybe some of you are okay with O’Reilly saying “lynching party” when speaking about Mrs. Obama, but as a black woman I am NOT! Wake the eff up my “sisters”!

  • Grace

    What did Bill Say?

  • Kompton’s Kutie

mad respect to star for stepping up and shutting that clown down

  • MIKKIMO

@kzzmerght..whatever I agree with Black Folks step up. we are so close to having a black president

  • Aoki Lee

Kudos to Star Jones! Let’s see how many supposed ‘brothas’ stand in her defense on this topic!!

It seems such a shame that whenever a white man say’s something “out of pocket” about a black woman, black men never stand up to our defense!!! Let a non jewish person make a rude remark about their race of women & I bet ALL within the jewish community would stand TOGETHER!!!

Why is it that Star Jones is the only celeb to find offense with this idiots remark? Lynch Party- humm???

  • Hope

Bill O reilley is a RACIST BASTARD, always has been always will be, what more do you expect from him? He purposely uses these statements to get a rise out of people! I also remember plenty of times when Star was smilling in his face on The View so I don’t know how she got all of a sudden enlightened!

  • ~*~IslandNik~*~

i thought i was the only one who found that comment racist.. i was shocked myself to hear it.. im glad she said something.. its a large effort.. n the only visible attempt to shut the clown up.. where r are the black activists???… i didnt hear anythin from any1 else

  • bree

oo i love it!.. Well said Star..im glad someone other than Ludacris is calling Bill O Reilly out on his bulls*it

BLACK PEOPLE DAMN!…CARE!!! this is real talk right here…. STAR is articulately defending OUR PEOPLE! CARE ABOUT THT!!!

GOsh i know its not some new dance step or juicy gossip about whos sleeping with who or wore what. BUT U NEED 2 care about these things. These things influence public policy and public policy influences the LAWS. yikes….you all make me scared about our future….

  • Cookie

THIS IS HOW YOU CUSS A MUDDA/FADDA OUT, WITHOUT USING PROFANITY!!! You expose, educate, and dismiss! I LOVE IT!!!!

  • http://mahoganyonthereal.wordpress.com Southern Belle 225

@KZZ and MarieDaGuru..I stamp and cosign with you both! Star’s apperance and personal life is so small in comparison to what she is talking about. And, I am so surprised that other black celebrities didn’t jump on this. They should have at least had a comment or response to his racist ass!

  • NIKKI UNDERWOOD

    @ Bohwe

What’s the issue? Did you read that? Are you seri?

  • tracy

Dang, I’m always impressed when someone can tell somebody’s ass off so eloquently!! She told his ass OFF without sounding ignorant herself. Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery good Star, veeeeeery good.

I agree Dannie Fresh. To even think that Star should not be concerned or affected by what this man said because she may or may not have a gay husband – um, wow, what is there to say? Oh! I thought of something – CRABS IN A BARREL.

  • PrettyMissSunshine

@KZZ and MarieDaGuru and Southern Belle

    COSIGN!!

I actually went to the web site and read the whole article and when I tell you that Star curssed his ass out without any use of profanity what so ever!! lol

I commend her on having the balls to attack his racial comments. Bill O’ Reily thinks he can say anything that he wants without consequence and personally, that statement against Ms. Obama was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I back star 100%

  • victory is mine

good for you star…bill o’reilly has been spreading his racist rhetoric for years and he thinks he can get away with it. it’s about time someone checked his ass again. she and luda should hook up and pay fox news a visit….

  • ~*~IslandNik~*~

    ^^^

    idiot!

  • blu majic

the problem is, Billy boy, don’t think we watch the news…i guess we’re too ignorant to do that! Mrs. Star Jones Reynolds, gay husband or not, has every right and somewhat of a platform to speak the mind of every African-American who has been through or known someone who’s been through the hardships of growing up through those very violent times! Hell, it’s still violent to this day, that’s why this type of behavior shouldn’t be looked over or tolerated!!

  • tracy

@Corey S – It is scary, very scary.

  • baby

GOTDAMN STAR- you GO GIRL…shut the devil down!

is there a petition to cancel his sorry ass?

    i have my pen ready.

  • Tonya

Kudos to Star for that well written letter. Bill O’Reilly is a racist clown and it’s obvious that he’s the voice of a lot of white Americans.

  • ImKeepingItReal4DaHooks

Kudos to Star! That’s right people, we are STILL in the middle of a civil rights movement. Educate yourselves and those around you!

    I agree w/Mississippi Girl!

  • Hope

“He apologized, so where is the issue?”

Racist pigs like him only apoligize AFTER saying such hateful statements because they know there are idiots who will buy it! Therefore he can still continue to say what he truly feels and then issue a pathetic apology later!

Don’t forget this is the same one who was so shocked black people eat with forks and knives and can actually behave while eating!

  • Mimi

Bill O’Reilly is a dirty, bottom-feeding, hate-mongering asshole. Go get ‘em Star!

  • TEEDY

THAT’S RIGHT STAR!!! I’M NOT A STAR JONES FAN BUT I HAVE TO GIVE IT TO HER, SHE SPEAKS HER MIND. THAT IS SO REFREASHING IN A TIME WHERE BLACKS SEEM PARALIZED WITH FEAR WHENEVER IT COME TO SAYING SOMETHING THAT MAKES SENSE OR DEFENDS THE RACE. I AGREE 100% WITH WHAT SHE SAID. THE WORD LYNCH SHOULD NEVER BE USED IN ASSOCIATION WITH BLACK PEOPLE EVER! POINT BLANK AND IT SEEMS THAT THESE WHITE RACSIST CLOWNS ARE THROWING IT AROUND MORE AND MORE OFTEN. ALL HELL WOULD BREAK LOSE IF SOMEONE SAID THEY WOULD PUT BARBARA STREISAND IN A GAS CHAMBER OR LOCK HER UP IN A CONSINTRATION CAMP. WHY SHOULD SOMEONE ELSE’S PAIN MEAN MORE THAN THE PAIN OF BLACK PEOPLE?

  • rico 9

at least Star speaks her mind, more than alot of these fools that have a platform to do so.

Bill is a fag anyways- he likes to get pounded by the brothas at his gym.

  • cooperinc_6

It’s TIME to elevate ourselves people!!!!!!

I,for one, am very proud of Star Jones commentary on Bill O’Reilly stupid, ignorant, racist comments she wrote very eloquent and heartfelt reply and for that I thank her.

  • Fierce Chili

    Help!

    What did O’Reilly say?

  • Hope

I find it so interesting that he always has something to say about black people but he never has anything to say about how he sexually harrasses women! Odd isn’t it! If it was a black host who had his dirty sexual harrassing deeds in court he would have lost his job but not YT, Bill O reilly

  • TEEDY

THIS IS, (TO ME) THE BEST PART OF THE OPEN LETTER:

What annoys me more than anything is that I get the feeling that one of the reasons Bill O’Reilly made this statement, thinking he could get away with it in the first place, and then followed it up with a lame apology in a half-hearted attempt to smooth any ruffled feathers, is because he doesn’t think that black women will come out and go after him when he goes after us. Well, he’s dead wrong. Be clear Bill O’Reilly: there will be no lynch party for that black woman. And this black woman assures you that if you come for her, you come for all of us.” — Star Jones Reynolds

    SPEAK MRS. JONES!!!

  • Bohwe

I may kid around but I’m serious when it comes to issues of race and class, seeing that my major is Social Science. Look, we have to think outside the box on this issue, Bill O’Reily had every right to say what he said, because that is his constitutional right under the 1st Ammendment to say that. It was an insensitive thing to say, but this isn’t the last time some conservative reporter will say something like that. I’m pretty sure obama was upset, but he can’t go on the defensive and neither should black folks, because the Conservatives, can turn around and bring the focus of race, and make it appear as if Blacks are complaining again , the white vote will go for Hillary.

The main reason why whites are voting for Barack is because he does not have a history of race baiting like Sharpton or Jackson. He doesn’t blame white America, and the more Star Jones, or any other person brings that up, white folks will get upset.

And as far as the Super delegates, I think that Lewis and the other black super delegate that switched knew what they were doing, if they came out in favor of Obama, it would have appeared racial, so they waited and now that Obama is getting the white folks, their votes aren’t being scrutinized.

Sometimes, people can do more for the black cause by doing things behind closed doors, instead of always opening their mouths. It’s not what you say, but what you do.

  • tj

That’s right. People forget that Star was one of the top civil rights attorneys and prosecutors in the nation before she became famous on the view. TEAR HIM APART STAR. SHOWEM WHAT YOU CAN DO!

  • Hope

“Bill O’Reily had every right to say what he said, because that is his constitutional right under the 1st Ammendment to say that. It was an insensitive thing to say, but this isn’t the last time some conservative reporter will say something like that.”

See this is where people forget what it’s really about. Bill O Reilly does NOT own that station therefore he CAN NOT just say what he feels like saying. He has studio heads and sponsors to answer to but because black people or any other people never show a stance against him and his racist comments, he stays on the air.

  • Tisha

Wow, reading that whole letter had me feeling like going up to the 11th floor an giving them a piece of my mind………..then I remembered I have bills….LOL…but go head Star. Still look scary that skinny, but go head…So what I threw that in! LOL

  • NIKKI UNDERWOOD

    @ Octavia

He said: “I don’t want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there’s evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels. If that’s how she really feels – that is a bad country or a flawed nation, whatever – then that’s legit. We’ll track it down.”

  • Hope

Octavia, they did post what he said just click that Michelle Obama link.

  • http://www.myspace.com/ocky_j Octavia

Ok, I think I found it:

I don’t want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there’s evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels. If that’s how she really feels — that America is a bad country or a flawed nation, whatever — then that’s legit. We’ll track it down.”

Uhhh… I guess that could be construed as racist, but does that warrant a long rambling ass letter? Probably not. He has said MUCH worse, but whatever. At least Star got it off her chest.

I’m of the opinion that making such a big fuss over such a veiled comment takes people’s attention away from the REAL issues confronting black America… if she wants to get outraged, get outraged about those shady vote counters in NY.

Mind you Imus said much less and people wanted his head on a platter.

    She makes a good point

  • Lucy

    @Hope

I hear you – People go after FOX – Bill O’Reilly has a forum, because the station employs him – the best way to go after Bill is to go after FOX. For all of you busy commenting on Star’s personal life or physical image you are missing the point – this woman is smart, successful and heart is in the right place – I stand fully behind her and Michelle Obama.

  • Hope

I can agree with what Star said but at the same time I feel like she just wants her name in the news.

  • Miss K

FEAR OF A BLACK PLANET IS RIGHT ON POINT!!!!!! Smart Black folks know exactly what is going on in this election and politics. No one of intelligence can speak for the dumb and ignorant blacks, and do not care to.

  • and another one…

And he has a turkey neck, he’s disgusting

  • ResearchDONE

Snaps for Star! Her letter should serve as the well thought out diatribe it is to all these crazy 25-20s who seem to be using the word “lynch” quite liberally these days. Begs the question, why now?

  • YES.WE.CAN

On this topic, Star covered it all.

Bill O’Reilly owes both Michelle and Barack an formal apology, but I doubt they will get it, because Fox NEWS has been attacking Barack and his beautiful family from the start!

    Forget Fox NEWS.

  • I’m Just Me

Personally I think she said a lot of the right and good things. Good for standing up for us Star and not sounding like a fool doing it.

  • ResearchDONE

@ Lovely and Amazing, as I was about to get back to work ;) , I glanced at my computer screen at the words, “Black is the new woman.” After reading your entire post, I can not say that I agree with all of your opinions, but I do respect your point of view. Further, in light of Star’s article, and in light of the poise and elegance that is not only Michelle Obama, but many black women across the Country (I include myself because I love me!), I whole-heartedly embrace the notion that “Black is the new woman” indeed!!!

  • Dannie Fresh

    @ Octavia:

I think it is extremely ignorant of you to dismissively refer to Star’s letter as a “long rambling ass letter”. Rambling would insinuate that the letter had no substance, form or point to it and that could not be further from the truth. It was both poignant and eloquent. As for your opinion that O’Reilly’s comment was “veiled”…take your blinders off. He is verbose enough to have chosen more suitable language, yet opted to use a historically inflammatory phrase. As for your last paragraph, should I take that to mean that you do not think racism is a REAL issue in black america? The answer to my last question is all I need to know which side of the fence you stand on.

  • I Don’t follow I Lead

Bravo, Mrs. Reynolds Bravo!! It is about time that someone called this moron out on the crap that he spews!

  • Kensington

Starr, I am proud to call you my soror!

I’m so glad someone attempted to shut Billy down, but the truth is, he’s not going to listen. He’s just someone to ignore for the most part because some people can’t be helped. He’s just hopeless.

    I understand Star’s anger, though.

  • Ibn

THIS GOES BEYOND BILL O’REILLY…THE QUESTION IS WHY DOES HE STILL HAVE A JOB AFTER PREVIOUS COMMENTS…FOX NETWORKS OR THE PEOPLE RUNNING IT MUST FEEL AND THINK THE SAME WAY

  • PCD

yay star! you’ve always been my girl….and SOMEONE needed to address the foolishness. well said!

  • sandra

I read the complete letter on blackvoices….I so agree with Star. How dare he?

  • Hiswife

Star Jones… You have earned my respect.. Thank you for sticking up for African American Women.. And to those assholes that don’t care, you are obviously ignorant to the fact that comments like this hinder the growth of blacks and keeps racism alive..

NOT HELPING WITH A SOLUTION IS ADDING TO THE PROBLEM..

  • charter club

Notice how Bill is ‘always taken out of context’?

  • http://BlackRain Rafiqa

It is astounding the ignorance that continues to plague the nation where we continue to proclaim is the, “Land of the Free”. I say this because one- Bill O’Reily is a typical insecure and ill-bred racist. The fact that Blacks are actually smart charasmatic and diplomatic people continues to baffle those that that are like mind as O’Reily. Two-Black America absolutely needs an Obama at this state. Reading the posts above, we are not concerned with the plights of our struggles. We should not be going through this today. Although, we never should have gone through this. Unfortunately, individiuals as those above is a clear reason why we are.

  • elle

it’s going to get even nastier as I’m sure a lot of people did not take Barak Obama’s campaigne serious.

You see how Hillary Clinton and her people have handled her campaign. they went in coky and now are coming out of this with their tale damn near between their legs.

O’Reilly is always saying sometinh out of line amd they love him for it.

Go Star people sleep on her intellect.

  • elle

    opps : campaign

  • wow!

Thanks Star!!! I didn’t hear about this. Bill “o” is a royal big ball of “air” he speaks and nothing of quality comes out. He’s the perfect representation of those racist that say ” i have black friends and I’ve even let blacks stay at my house”. At least he’s obvious, the ones you know about you know how to handle(you’ve handled it Star). He’s the honorary jackass of the year 2008.

  • http://www.myspace.com/ocky_j Octavia

    @ Dannie Fresh

I believe her letter was rambling in that she made the same (valid) points over and over. YES, I am well aware that Bill O’Reilly is a racist. I said his comments were veiled because they were. He didn’t overtly use a racial slur, but we all know he meant to suggest a racist tone. I am 100% in agreement with you and Mrs. Jones-Reynolds on those points.

    HOWEVER

I DO NOT believe that yet another attack on Bill O’reilly is going to help with the REAL issues. O’Reilly is going to continue being a racist prick. In my opinion, if Star wants to help black America and the O’Bama camp, she shouldn’t cause such a stir over that comment. Perhaps rallying our people to actually get off our asses and vote would be more useful. Just my two cents.

  • http://www.myspace.com/ocky_j Octavia

It is just my opinion that we as black people are all too often diverted to RELATIVELY minor issues. We get all up in arms over Don Imus and Bill O’Reilly. Those old, hateful bastards have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. Still, we attack and try to censor them. The truth is WE are struggling. Our men are in prison and killing each other. Our women are struggling to make positive strides in the absence of our male counterparts (40% of African-American women will not marry by age 40). Our children are failing out of school… but drowning in BET. We don’t vote. We are economically stalled. I’d love to see some of those issues addressed BEFORE we crucify the likes of Bill O’Reilly.

  • Flirty Fawn

I applaud Star Jones, however, don’t be fooled. This could be a ploy by the conservatives to start a ruckus about race which will in turn send fear to the white supporters of Obama in the end. This may be a tactic by the Republicans.

PLEASE BLACK PEOPLE LET IT GO…..FOR NOW!

  • John Doe

Bill is a dick head and will die a dick head…nothing new!

  • IRON MAN

YALL FORGET THAT STARR IS A LAWYER. I BET HE WONT HAVE TOO MUCH TO SAY BACK TO HER. SHE WILL GET THAT ASS IN COURT. LOL

  • TEEDY

FOR EVERYONE WHO IS SAYING LET IT GO, JUST KNOW THAT IT STARTS WITH COMMENTS LIKE THOSE OF O’REILY AND IT MOVES TO ACTS LIKE THESE:

The riots that broke out in South Africa in protest of racial abuse on Wednesday, almost 16 years to the day that Nelson Mandela walked free from prison, have revealed just how distant the former president’s dream of a Rainbow Nation remains from reality. The protests came in response to a video distributed on the Internet showing four white university students abusing black campus service staff by forcing them to perform a series of degrading acts, including eating food mixed with urine.

The video itself appears to have been posted as a twisted protest by racist students against plans to integrate university dorms. It opens with a voiceover in Afrikaans that says: “Once upon a time the Boers lived happily here on Reitz island, until the day the less advantaged discovered the word ‘integration’ in the dictionary.”

The 10-minute film then moves on to a series of scenes in which black cleaners – four women and a man – are shown drinking bottles of beer in a race that the commentary describes as “down-downs,” then taking part in a running race. In a final scene, what appears to be pet food is shown being mixed with garlic in a bowl. One of the four students then takes the bowl to a toilet, and is filmed urinating in it. The bowl is then heated in a microwave, divided into five plastic cups and handed to the cleaners, who are kneeling on the floor. The students shout at the cleaners to eat it. Two immediately spit it out; the three that eat it are then presented with a bottle of whisky. The video ends with an on screen message, also in Afrikaans, which translates as: “That, in the end, is what we think of integration.”

  • Well

UMMMM WHERE ARE MY BROTHERS ON THIS?? MISSING AS USUAL? IMPOTENT

(NOT THE ONES I KNOW BUT…..)

  • NOTAHATER

Bill O’Reily is not crazy, he knows what he was saying. someone needed to put him in his place and Star did just taht. say what you want about Star, but she knows her ish…..

  • Dannie Fresh

    @ Octavia…..

I respectfully agree to disagree. Thanks for the mental stimulation! =-)

  • deafjam04

I am so glad that someone of Star Jones’s stature spoke out on Bill O’Reily’s comment of lynching. The fact is that we as black people can not continue to let comments like that be swept under the rug just because we all know that he is a racist. You have to speak out! I don’t understand why people(Octavia) feel you’re not supposed to get upset. So what are you saying? Hold my head down and act like I never heard it? If it was brought to your attention, how would you handle it? Have you ever had face to face racism? That is the problem now. We don’t stand up for ours. Bill O’Reily has a platform to say what he feels, but Star Jones wasn’t supposed to say anything? Young people grow up! I applaud Star Jones for speaking out against a loser! Had it been a white democratic’s wife, those words would not have come from his mouth. It tells you how they all still view us, which is why Star said what she said, even if small minded people felt it was long winded.

  • sillyme

Well, one thing for sure is Obama has certainly put a muzzle on Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. In the past, statements like OReilly’s would have brought out angry complaints from them both by now. I suspect Obama will owe a lot of people a lot of favors when/if he gets elected. I wonder what he’s promised Jesse and Al.

As for Starr, I wonder how much of this is real outrage or her just wanting to get her name out there.

If Obama gets elected, white people are going to be so ready to get out him after four years, cuz they’ll be so tired of black folks complaining about EVERYTHING that will be said about him and Black Hillary.

  • Crystal

To the persons commenting “who cares” and making reference to Star’s husband, they, to me, are scarier than the racist people. No sense of pride. We’re the only group of people who don’t have each other’s best interest at heart. Killing each other, selling drugs to each other. A bunch of crabs in a bucket. If we don’t look out for each other, like they did during slavery and through the 1960′s, who will? Somewhere along the line we have lost our way. Good for you Star. You’re a black voice that can be heard so keep looking out for us, even those who don’t appreciate it.

  • William Powers

WOW. SJ put him on BLAST!!!! I forgot about THAT SJ. Now she needs her own talk show!

  • Suzy

Hey ya’ll its suzy again in Canada and I have to say go head star every word she spoke was true and his ass needs to be checked. It’s 2008! And hasnt anybody else realized that ppl can say racially charged slurs and not get called out on it they just let it go as if it is okay. There is many incidents in Canada relating to racism, my sister is a child and youth worker and she worked with a young black teen from St. Lucia he has a bipolar disorder but she said he was a very sweet kid. She told me he was doing well but you can tell he was about to have a break down like something wasnt right and a couple of weeks ago he took a gun and robbed a store in Toronto he was having a mental break down when the cops came instead of shooting him in arm or something they shot him 8 times in his back trying to kill him or paralyzze him. He is in the hospital right now and he might never be able to walk again but in Canada racism exists and the thing is we try to act like it dosent so this was never on the news. The teen was not trying to kill anybody we understand he had a gun but 8 times in his back was not okay. There is alot of police brutality here and it never gets talked about he is BIPOLAR not a kid trying to rob a place kuz he is a thug or w.e. I just thing its sad my sister is also very upset but I was just saying how if it happened in the states like alot of things here do you would probably here about even on a damn news channel or something. Racism is alive and well and Im glad Star checked him even though he could prob care less bout what she has to say. Just some food 4 thought.

  • OOHWEE

I agree with what she said. I was pissed when I heard his comments also!!!

  • Suzy

So I just left a comment and i have to clear somethin’ i said that there is alot of incidents of racism here in Canada let me say there is issue with race everyday. Whether its because i am the only black person that walks into a store and get followed and harassed as if i am going to jack something or w.e. its everywhere all the time.

  • http://n/a minerva

ms.jones-reynolds is on point in her assessment & i commend her.

what i have found to be true- because “they” have made the statement- that if WE(Blacks) can be disrespectful of our Black women, “they” don’t understand why “they” can’t………..

and Lord knows, we talk deep sh*t about our own & actually believe its okay !

it can’t be both ways folks….. you gotta give respect to get respect!!

i never forget eddie murphey’s “raw” when the japanese tourists greeted him with ,”hey eddie- you

mother******!” and the point is he really didn’t care too much being addressed in such a manner!

Black people aren’t the only ones who watch the movies, read these blogs, listen to our music…

and then have the audacity to get pissed off when it comes back to bite you in the butt!

i reiterate: why should anyone care IF WE DON”T?!!?

“I don’t understand why people(Octavia) feel you’re not supposed to get upset. So what are you saying? Hold my head down and act like I never heard it? If it was brought to your attention, how would you handle it? Have you ever had face to face racism? That is the problem now. We don’t stand up for ours. Bill O’Reily has a platform to say what he feels, but Star Jones wasn’t supposed to say anything?”

I’m not saying you, Star, nor anyone shouldn’t feel upset. I just think we disagree on what “stand up for ours” really means. Ok, so she told him off. I’m sure it felt good for her and the millions of others who were also disgusted by what he said. Sadly, he (nor is audience) will not change. Now what? What are we going to do to make a change? Hopefully, she will use her status to reach out where it will count (e.g. high schools, college campuses, community centers) to get us registered and voting.

As for your question about whether I have faced racism, I was born in Mississippi and live in Alabama. I attended Ole Miss… so…

I find it funny that people would say who cares. It’s that Tiger Woods-Tail between your legs mentality that makes people like Bill feel invincible. Oh Star needs to worry about her gay husband????? What does her husband have to do with her not agreeing with Bill’s statement? Can one not have a gay husband and an opinion at the same time? Just like we have an opinion about her, about her husband,,,She’s entitled as well. And I agree with her on this. Yes you’re entitled, but her hubby is completely irrelevant to the issue at hand. We’ve got to do better…

  • So_Surrus

Yea Star made a point wit this one, I do watch the O’Reilly Factor sometimes just to see what racist comment he says and kid you not, every night its something new..I would neva forget when he was interviewing Al Sharpton, he kept cutting him off in mid-sentence and I guess they (Bill & AL) went to lunch at some place and Bill asked Al “Who spotted that Check?” LOL…It was funny but damn, did you have to front on him like that…

Yeah it’s all good and funny until you realize that this is our representation in the world! I also wish we would stop supporting shows like Flav of Love and I love NY. Take the time to tune in and you will see.

  • nico

Umm you all should read all the facts or listen to the entire interview before you make such crazy remarks. He was in defense of Michelle..point blank period. Lynching is not synonymous with black people. Our ancestors were raped, killed and abused as slaves as well….we cant possibly be pissed when people use these words…so why does it apply here?

Dont get me wrong I am not a fan of Bill O’reilly but after listening to the entire call, the truth is the truth and you cant be ready and willing to jump on the bandwagon of ignorance just because a celebrity wrote an open letter. Think for yourself.

  • Bohwe

Nico that is what I got from the letter, it’s sad that people heard “lynching party”, and went into attack mode. To really understand the letter, means to understand that he did defend Michelle. Maybe that’s why Obama and his campaign didn’t strike back.

Has Star Jones attack Russell Simmons, BET, MTV and others who made millions upon millions selling products worldwide that maynot have said what O’Reily said about Michelle, but has created such a jacked up image of black women, that we are known as female dogs, over-sexed, materialistic, not feminine sub human creatures. Star is 1000% right. We as black people famous or not need to confront these racist remarks whenever they arise. My standing is this…since day one when we got off the boat they have tried to put all kinds of restraints on us to hold us back or at least try to, but we always move ahead.. from slavery to freedom to civil rights movements to affirmative action. Now we are looking at a possible black president and black first lady…white people are scared to death about this and that’s why they revert back to racist comments. They are flat out scared of black people and that’s the only way they know how to fight…because they damn sho can’t stop us cause we keep moving up.

The problem with all you black folks today is you all feel like you are owed something. Everytime someone speaks or expresses an opinion that refers to the black race, the next thing you know the Al Sharptons, Jesse Jacksons and Star Jones are spewing all this crap. You have Black History Month, Martin Luther King Day. White people don’t get a month dedicated to them, white people don’t get to celebrate the great JFK. You get fired from your jobs and you scream racism and harrassment. You use the events of hundreds of years ago as a smoke screen to hide behind and carry comments such as Bill O’Reilly’s on your shoulder. Get over IT!! IT’S OLD. You get welfare, food stamps, WIC, Medicaid, and bilk the system for every free dollar you can get. Your own race and the behavior of your people are the reason why people make comments about lynching, etc. And mark my words, Barack HUSSAIN Obama is an underground Muslim that will have this country hated even more than we are hated today. He is nothing but a bright shiny package wrapped and spun by the media as an “angel of mercy” when he is nothing more than an arrogant HALF BLACK man who cannot back up anything he says. All we hear is hope and change, change and hope. Hope is NOT a strategy. And Michelle Obama needs to come down from her high horse with her “wanna be” Jackie Kennedy hairdo. The Obama’s can never bring the grace and dignity the Kennedy’s brought to the White House. And all of these people both black and white that are under this Obama spell will be very sorry when they wake up and realize they have made a huge mistake when they threw the ball to the rookie instead of the experienced athlete. With this country in the state it’s in today, do you really want to run the risk of having a rookie Senator with absolutly no clue on foreign policy, no clue on how to get us out of this senseless war and last but not least no clue how to get this country back to the great nation it once was. THINK ABOUT IT AND THEN MOVE ON!!

  • Kenny

I agree with Star, I watched it and sat back and said to myself “did he just say lynching?? Im sick of the media and their racist remarks, but because we dont have reputable people fighting against this they fell its okay.

  • LRels

I hate how white people are so quick to brush off their racist, insulting, hurtful comments with “oh, it was taken out of context”

But, let a Black person or a Muslim or anyone else with a high melanin count say anything against them, and they get up in arms and chastise us for being “angry Blacks, still upset over something that happened 300 years ago,” and then tell us to “get over it”

I never respected Star Jones much, but she has gained much respect from my end, especially as a Black female. She exudes a class and intelligence in this denunciation (and rejection, in case Hillary reads this…) of Bill’s comments that is exemplary of the idea that “Black is the new woman” (CHURCH Lovely, CHURCH…)

I’m so tired of white people and their “oh, I didn’t know it was offensive/racist”/”it was taken out of context” bs, I just don’t know what to do.

    Oh wait, yea I do.

    I’m voting Obama.

    1. No one’s behavior justifies lynching.

    2. If O’Bama is a Muslim, what difference does it make? All of our presidents thus far have claimed to be Christian and we are presently the most hated country in the world…so what was your point?

    3. Why did you capitalize HALF BLACK??? That was just weird.

    4. How do you know what he can’t back up? What is your evidence?

    5. What’s up with all the Kennedy references? How is that relevant?

In short your whole rant was baffling.

  • a.b.in dc

Josie sweetie we know you are WHITE I am thinking it is Josie SUE ANN White. We could not be hated any more as a nation after George W Bush if Lucifer became President and Hitler was VP. The idea that he is a “secret” Muslim is hilarious since denying Islam would make him not a Muslim. It is the firs pillar of Islam- yeah for religious studies – so being a secret Muslim does not work. Second, he would have had to think 20 years ago when he became a Christian, that one day he would run for President, after America was attacked by Muslim extremist, and if he knew all that hell we need him at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave just for the claravoyance News flash lynching is specifically targeted at African Americans. If Bill had told a Jewish person he would lead the “gas chamber ” party I am sure that the ADL would have gotten the message. Why is the fact that Obama is half black such an issue, he looks black and that means that he had the experiences of a black person. The truth is that it is not how you view yourself, but how others view you that determines the experiences you have. He was raised in America , therefore he had the experiences of an African American male. He was wasn’t brought up in Kenya, Europe or Asia, right here in the USA. I see that you have made the connection between Michelle and Jackie O and I am thinking it has nothing to do with the hairdo. The experienced athlete has 4 more years in the US senate over him, that is it. Obama has been in public service longer. That is a fact. The 8 years Hillary was First Lady she did First Lady thingsThe one thing she did try to do, health care , failed miserably. If she did advise her husband and things of the kind, there is no public record so we cannot assess her judgment. that means it doesn’t count, she gets no points for it because we do not know if she called the play or was against it. Before that, she was an attorney at Rose Law firm in Arkansas. Her time in the senate is not too good, look up her record. The arguments you make betray your motivations. As First Ladies go, she met with other First ladies but she is not even memorable for a particular agenda like Restore the WH ( Jackie ) Just Say no ( Nancy) Substance abuse(Betty) Beautify America Lady Bird) Literacy ( Barbara) I mean Tipper Gore and the fight against mental illness not being covered by insurance is more memorable and the general stigma associated with it is more memorable.

  • josie

    Octavia:

    1. Agree completely. So why continue to draw attention to it?

    2. Look what Muslims have done to this country. How do we know he’s not some plant with an agenda from that world?

    3. I capitalized HALF BLACK because I have heard too many people refer to him as black and say they are voting for him just because he’s black.

    4. My evidence that he can’t back up what he says is from his speeches where he talks about what he wants to do but doesn’t say how he’s going to accomplish it and he has yet to produce an agenda outlining what he would do if elected. As I said above it’s all change and hope, hope and change. He talks of no strategy on what he’s hoping to change. I have also done some research about his record in the Illinois Senate. There’s nothing there, and the things he’s voted against are quite appalling.

    5. My Kennedy references are from his speech comparing himself to JFK and the media glorifying it to a level of sheer lunacy. And once again, the references of Michelle Obama comparing her to Jackie Kennedy.

Why was this baffling? I was expressing my views and opinions as are seen through my eyes, just as Ms. Jones and everyone else on this board are expressing opinions. Have you stopped to think that just as blacks may be tired of white people making racial remarks, white people are tired of black people making racial remarks as well? It’s a two way street.

    THINK

  • Jessica- Keeping it real

First of all- who ever said that blacks were not the only ones who were lynched- you are right but we are predominately the ones you think of when you hear the word lynch. Second of all- Star made a good point when she was like others like Rudy’s woman Judy were also being dragged through the mud in the media and he never used that terminology to illustrate what many were trying to do to her. Third- this has been coming for a long time. He is always calling us (African- Americans) for what ever he deems inappropriate. Like when he called out Pepsi for using Ludacris to promote their product. Then they dropped Ludah and put Ozzie Osborn who bites the heads off of bats and is a poster child for why one should not use drugs. But he didn’t open up his mouth then. Ludah whether you appreciate his music or not you cannot front on that man- he does a lot of charitable work and he is not a gangster rapper. But bill o’reilly feels comfortable labeling all rappers as gangsters. Then when he went to Sylvia’s in Harlem he’s going to talk about that he was surprised that people weren’t ordering and cursing at the waitresses and throwing up signs basically. So for all you who want to know why his apology isn’t good enough- it’s because he keeps trying to straight play us and we keep letting him get away with it. I mean we fired Imus, why haven’t any of us tried to get him off the air? He is a pompous loser who subscribes to the ” I can’t be racist I have black friends” ilk and it’s good that Star busted him out of his face. He could have been like I’m not going to run Michelle through the ringer or something like that until blah blah blah. But he didn’t and it’s because when he looked at her and thought of her that is the first word that came to mind and he might have internally wanted to take her down a peg or two. The big problem is that bill o’reilly is considered important for what ever reason and many listen to his voice and this is the first time that we have a chance to change history and His words can effect that. I don’t know how any one can be like it’s not a big deal but if you can sleep at night knowing that someone like him is on the air influencing America- go ahead. But as for me- I am tired of being an African American Woman and not having a voice against such nonsense. It was about time and I am glad that some of us are ready to wake up.

Sorry I skipped out on this conversation after making my initial remark seeing how yall got your panties all in a bunch.

Yall and Star and whoever else can get all riled up about Bill O’Reilly all you want. I ain’t the one for his nonsense. We all know he is a damn idiot. He has always been an idiot and he always will be no matter how many diatribes Star launches toward him. Remember he played that song, “Barack the Magic Negro” on his show? He’s a shock jock and that’s how they roll. So until someone is ready to shut down the whole shock industry, including blogs and shock jocks of all races, I don’t want to hear it. Ok?

  • loren

Oh my EVERYONE should read the letter in it’s entirety she absolutely checked that pathetic idiot! Thank you Miss Star for articulating the truth so perfectly well! I’m with you all the way and for my race 100%! Always have been always will be.

  • loren

To Jessica go ahead girl! I truly believe that ALL black women need to form a group to uplift ourselves and educate our children. Thank you for your wonderful voice.

  • Teejay

Thank God for Star Jones! It’s high time somebody teach these white motherf**kers what their miserable mothers did not, that the bad things you say to other people are nothing but a reflection of your own tarnished soul.

  • tiger

Black people, quit whining “racist” every 5 mins. Star Jones? Over emotional idiot. Bill? Bad word choice, but he was right & on target.

  • whatsinaname?

    get’em Star!

  • afafas

She wouldn’t be saying all that stuff if she was still employed.

These comments only put her back in the private eye, which is what she wants

  • KNOXUS

HOW CAN ANYONE SPOUT OFF ABOUT WHITE GUILT AND ENSLAVEMENT WHEN SOME OF FIRST PEOPLE WHO WERE OPPRESSED BY THE WEST…ARE NOW BUYING AMERICA. WHILE LRELS IS CONSUMED WITH INFLUX OF DRUGS INTO THE BLACK COMMUNITY IN THE LAST 40 YEARS…THE VICTIMS OF THE OPIUM WARS ARE BUYING UP AFRICA, AUSTRALIA, EUROPE, AND AMERICA. THEY ARE “SAVING” YOUR BANKS AND PROVIDING MUCH NEEDED SERVICES ABROAD. SO WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE THAT EVERYBODY WHO WAS ENSLAVED 200 YEARS AGO AND ALSO I MIGHT ADD SYSTEMATICALLY DISADVANTAGED MANAGED TO BREAK OFF THEIR CAPTORS AND ACHIEVE FREEDOM BUT BLACKS IN AMERICA. THE NEW STATS SAY 1 IN 10 BLACKS MALES ARE IN PRISON AND 1 IN 100 (ON PAR WITH THE OVERALL NATIONAL AVERAGE) BLACK WOMEN ARE IN JAIL. WANDA SYKES SAID IT BEST…IF A BLACK MAN BECOMES PRESIDENT…WHAT’S GOING TO BE OUR EXCUSE THEN???

  • LRels

Hmmm, before everyone gets their panties in a bunch (oh, wait…), maybe I should explain…

First, my comments weren’t intended to “excuse” any of the problems of the Black community. In fact, they weren’t directed at Black people AT ALL. I know our issues are not soley due to the “Man”; to actually believe that erases the issue of accountability, and that just doesn’t make sense. It takes two to tango, and putting the blame soley on one person oversimplifies a larger problem that I didn’t address, because it’s a little too complex to talk about on a gossip website.

I was directing my comments to those ignorant individuals who came on a Black gossip website and spewed racial epithets and discriminatory comments(such as Josie and Sherman) in order to explain why Blacks in America aren’t as successful as other minorities.

Why aren’t you jumping down their throats? Basically, they are doing the same thing I did, just reversing the perspective and using stereotypes and over-generalizations in order to explain our current state in the US.

Why do you feel the need to jump down my throat, writing in all caps to emphasize your OUTRAGE over my comments instead giving what I wrote a second look and then coming back to ask me to clarify a few things? I would have gladly explained that I was only presenting a counter-point to one point of view of this issue, and was attacking those whites who believe that they play no role in the success/failure of Black America to fully assimilate and thrive in American society/culture/economy in a positive way.

The “MAN” didn’t stop me from doing a lot of things, but he did make it a little hard for me, and even you can admit that.

Tiger, good job at stereotyping Black people. Seeing as I don’t smoke Newports, am YEARS away from having any children, and have never had ANY interaction with the police, I guess that doesn’t make me “Black” then, hm? In the future, please refrain from attaching such negative stereotypes to an entire race, ESPECIALLY when you don’t have all of your facts right about something. It makes you look very ignorant, slightly irrational, and that’s just not a good look dear.

Knoxus, please calm down. Guess you had trouble passing literacy comprehension tests because I’m pretty sure I mentioned other oppressed people. Just because I say “us” and “we” doesn’t mean I’m solely talking about Black people. I could be talking about all non-white people for all you know.

Maybe if you take the time to read carefully (hey, I even gave you a book assignment, try reading that and then come back to me). Trust me, I KNOW that Black America’s problems don’t lie solely in others; I was focusing my reply to certain individuals posting on this site in order to provide a counter-point to their arguments.

    Please, fall back.

  • KNOXUS

OH I ALMOST FORGOT WHY I WAS POSTING TO BEGIN WITH…I AM ASHAMED OF STAR JONES FOR USING BILL’S COMMENTS TO MAKE HERSELF RELEVANT….ITS JUST CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!

I HAPPPEN TO WATCH THE O’REILLY FACTOR FREQUENTLY AND I DON’T SEE THE RACIST SLURS THAT EVERYBODY ELSE SEEMS TO SEE…ALL THAT HE ASKS ANYONE TO DO IS USE THEIR MEDIA ACCESS RESPONSIBLY…LIKE DRINKING. IF YOU KNOW THERE’S A LACK OF POSITIVE BLACK IMAGES OUT THERE…HE ASKS HIP HOP ARTISTS TO BE MORE RESPONSIBLE. HE SAYS I DONT HAVE TO TELL YOU HOW BLACK MEN BEEN PORTRAYED IN THE PAST…I DONT HAVE TO TELL YOU WHAT PEOPLE THINK OF YOUR BAGGY JEANS AND POSES WITH YOUR ELBOWS ON SOME WOMAN’S BEHIND LOOK LIKE. SOME BLACK TEACHER IN SOME UNDERPRIVILEDGED NEIGHBORHOOD WORKING TO ENCOURAGE HIS STUDENTS TO FINISH SCHOOL AND TRY TO BECOME PROFESSIONALS…HE DOESNT GET A MILLION DOLLAR SALARY OR ENDORSEMENT OR HAVE HIS EVERY PUBLIC WORD PRESERVED IN NEWS PUBLICATIONS AROUND THE WORLD…BUT HE HAS TO WORK TWICE AS HARD AT HIS JOB TO COMBAT YOUR NEGATIVE INFLUENCE BECAUSE HIS STUDENTS WOULD RATHER BE RAPPERS OR BASKETBALL PLAYERS THEN MAYORS OR SENATORS OR AMBASSADORS. I DONT THINK THAT MAKES BILL O’REILLY RACIST.

AS FOR HIS COMMENTS ABOUT MICHELLE OBAMA…I HAPPENED TO BE WATCHING AT THE TIME…BECAUSE THE FIRST THING GOING THROUGH MY HEAD WHEN I SAW HER PICTURE ON THE SCREEN WAS “OH LORD WHAT HAS SHE SAID NOW.” AS A SIDE NOTE, WITH HER HUSBAND GOING FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES I HOLD HER TO A HIGHER STANDARD FOR BEING RESPECTFUL AND TACTFUL IN HER SPEECH. THEY’VE GOT PEOPLE ON THE PAYROLL WHO DO NOTHING BUT TELL THEM HOW TO SAY STUFF AND SPEECH WRITING…SO SHE SHOULDN’T BE PULLING STUNTS TO BEGIN WITH. SAME THING WITH HER GOING AROUND IN NEED OF A TOUCH UP AND WITH BAD MAKE-UP AND WARDROBE CHOICES. YOU CAN’T TELL ME THAT SOME DESIGNER WOULDNT DRESS HER FOR FREE FOR THE PUBLICITY ALONE…AND THAT WOULDNT INVOLVE MAKING THEM SEEM LIKE THEY’VE BEEN BOUGHT…SURELY OPRAH CAN INTRODUCE HER TO HER STYLIST…THAT COVER OF NEWSWEEK IS HORRIBLE. ITS HORRIBLE BECAUSE SHE HAS PEOPLE TO ADVISE HER ABOUT THESE KINDA THINGS. THE AVERAGE WOMAN ON THE STREET DOESNT. SHE IS GOING TO BE IN SOME FASHION FAUX PAS MONTAGE IN THE FUTURE…AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. WHETHER SHE LIKES IT ARE NOT, MICHELE HAS BEEN THE BENEFICIARY OF THE AMERICAN DREAM. HER AND HER HUSBANDS ACHIEVEMENTS ARE NOTABLE FOR ANY AMERICAN BLACK WHITE PURPLE OR YELLOW. THEY WOULD BE NOTABLE IN ANY DEVELOPED COUNTRY FOR THEIR CITIZENS BE THEY ALSO BLACK WHITE PURPLE OR YELLOW. THAT SAID SHE SHOULDN’T BE PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN JUST BECAUSE HER HUSBAND DECIDED TO TAKE PART IN THE POLITICAL PROCESS. YOU MAY NOT KNOW THIS MICHELLE BUT PEOPLE ARE SUPPOSED TO RUN FOR OFFICE..SERVING IN A PUBLIC OFFICE IS THE HIGHEST CIVIC DUTY A PERSON CAN PERFORM. ITS THE FULFILLMENT OF THE FREEDOMS OUR FOREFATHERS AND FOREMOTHERS WORKED TO ACHIEVE. PEOPLE ARE SUPPOSED TO VOTE AND RALLY AROUND A CANDIDATE. THE PRACTICE IS AS OLD AS THE VOTING FUNCTION. PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD ARE DYING FOR THE RIGHT TO DO SO. AND HER COMMENT IN ESSENCE SAID…IM PROUD FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY ADULT LIFE THAT PEOPLE GOT OFF THEIR BUTTS TO DO WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO ANYWAY. CHRIS ROCK SAID IT BEST..”WHAT DO YOU WANT…A COOKIE?” I PERSONALLY THINK THERE’S MORE OUT THERE TO BE PROUD OF IN YOUR LIFE. WHAT THAT SAYS ABOUT HOW JADED SHE IS AS A PERSON IS UP TO THE PUBLIC WHO SHE ASKING TO SUPPORT BOTH HER AND HER HUSBAND IN REPRESENTING THIS COUNTRY TO DECIDE.

STAR JONES FOR NORTH CAROLINA…BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOT THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE EVER BEEN LYNCHED….BLACK PEOPLE NEED TO GET OVER THE FACT THAT THEY DON’T OWN THE WORD LYNCH. UP UNTIL THE MID-20TH CENTURY, HANGING WAS A PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE PRACTICE FOR EXECUTING JUDGEMENT. IN DOING SOME SIMPLE RESEARCH FOR WRITING THIS COMMENT I NOTICED THAT TERM “LYNCH” SEEMS TO BE CONSIDERED A FAIRLY MODERN (C.18TH CENTURY) TERM WHEREIN THERE IS SOME INFERENCE OF HANGING BEING USED AS AN INTIMIDATION TACTIC VICE LAW ENFORCEMENT. THAT BEING SAID, BODIES HANGING FROM ROPES OR PIKES IS NEVER JUST LAW ENFORCEMENT. THE IDEA OF PUBLICLY DISPLAYING AN OFFENDER HAS ALWAYS BEEN CONSIDERED A METHOD OF DETERMENT. SO I HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING THAT THE FIRST TIME A GROUP OF PEOLE HUNG SOMEONE FROM A TREE OR SCAFFOLD WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE MAGISTRATE WAS IN THE 19TH CENTURY. WHY AM I SAYING ALL THIS? BECAUSE WHILE STAR JONES WAS HAVING HER MOMENT IN BLACK HISTORY…SHE SEEMED TO FORGET THAT HISTORY GOES BACK MORE THAN JUST TO SOME SMALL TOWN IN NC IN THE 1920′S. STRICTLY SPEAKING, SINCE THE TERM LYNCH IS USED TO REFER TO TACTICS USED DURING THE COLONIAL TIMES BY WILLIAM LYNCH AND PEOPLE MORE COMMONLY USE IT TO DESCRIBE THE TACTICS USED BY WHITE SOUTHERNERS AGAINST BLACKS — THOUGH THEY TOO ARE NOT THE ONLY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD TO EVER BE STRUNG UP ON A RAIL IN EXTRALEGAL PROCEEDINGS. SO BILL O’REILLY IS PERFECTLY HIS RIGHTS TO SAY THAT HE WILL NOT BE LABELED AS A PART OF ANY LYNCH MOB BEFORE ALL THE FACTS ARE IN ABOUT MICHELE’S POLITICAL PERSUASION. I THINK THE AMERICAN PUBLIC HAS A RIGHT TO SCRUTINIZE THE PUBLIC PERSONA OF ITS ELECTED OFFCIALS AND THEIR OFFICIAL/NON OFFICAL REPRESENTATIVES. REMEMBER SHE’S GOING TO BE HOSTING DIGNITARIES AND I DONT WANT HER HAULING AND SPOUTING HER OPINION ON PUBLIC POLICY WHEN IT SUITS HER. BECAUSE IF SHE SAYS SOMETHING OFFENSIVE (WHETHER BECAUSE OF SOMETHING SHE STATE DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY) AND WE LOSE THE COOPERATION OF AN ALLY…THE AMERICAN PUBLIC WILL BE SITTING THERE WITH EGG ON ITS FACE. IF YOU DON’T HAVE FACE TIME WITH SENIOR OFFICIALS OF OTHER COUNTRIES ON A REGULAR BASIS…MAYBE ITS NOT SOMETHING YOU THINK ABOUT…BUT ITS A HUGE CONSIDERATION. THE POINT IS…MICHELE NEEDS TO RUN FOR OFFICE FOR HERSELF IF SHE PLANS ON BEING THIS VOCAL.

Beautifully, eloquently and very appropriately said, Ms. Jones.

I’m not entirely certain why the individual above feels the need to shout (last time I checked my ears were in full working order..)as it adds nothing to what they’re attempting to convey.

Of course, no one group of human beings has a monopoly on being lynched, this will be news to precious few and again I’m not certain why the extremely obvious needed to be expressed, but each to his or her own…

As to Mrs. Michelle Obama “hauling and spouting” her opinion, we have any number of persons in authority and trust this side of the pond who conduct themselves with far less restraint, and poise than this lady! Thank God she is unafraid to put her opinion out there; many people including myself enjoy hearing her views!

  • LRels

Knoxus – why doesn’t Bill O’Reilly fall back and focus on his own race? Last time I checked, most of the famous white people making the news aren’t exactly the models of society they make themselves out to be: Paris Hilton, Barron Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, BRITNEY SPEARS, Jamie Lynne Spears (PREGNANT AT 16! DAMN, and I thought us Black girls had the teenage pregnancy game on LOCK!)…I could go ON, and ON, and ON, and ON!

Thanks for providing us with positive role models. Besides, maybe you should pass the memo on to whites that they are fueling the rap/hip-hop economy ANYWAYS. With upwards of 75-85% of the profits coming from a WHITE market anyways, maybe the consumers and white execs should stop fueling that WHITE DOMINATED economy and image.

Also, given the fact that Bill makes his comment after a highly publicized “lynching” comment made by a white Golf Network sportcaster was chastized for her use of the word is SUSPECT. Given the timely and sensitive nature of that incident, which Bill was SURELY aware of since he discussed it on his show, don’t you think that he would have enough class to AVOID that word all together?

Oh wait. I forgot. We’re talking about Bill O’Reilly. Who has a HISTORY of making racially insensitive and insulting comments.

Get em Starr. His statement pizzed me the F-off and I’m glad someone took him to task on it.

I remember when ole Bill O’Riley hosted a show called “A Current Affair”. Does anybody else remeber this show. He portrayed himself like he was libral, very socially conscious. Now he is some hard nosed conservative. I guess that pays more, but anybody who could flip like that….I don’t know. I smell a fraud.

The following is a copy of an e-mail that I sent to Star Jones on her website.

I know that you are probably going through a difficult time, but Barbara Walter’s comments about you were nothing but sympathetic.

You did lie about how you came about your weight loss and made your guest host’s on The View very uncomfortable.

I also thought your actions with the group of young girls who tried heartily to raise enough funds to have you come to Detroit as a spokesperson was distasteful, selfish, greedy and cruel.

It is one thing to expect funding commitments from adults, but keeping the money that those children had raised was unthinkable. You did not raise your popularity to any higher standard and I doubt that you kept them as fans after your actions. Your actions towards them will stay in their and many other minds for years to come.

Barbara Walter’s may display sympathy for you, but in my 63 years on this earth keeping the young ladies funds will rank high on my list of selfishness, and what I consider your thought process as being ALL ABOUT YOU!!!

What a terrible example you set for those young girls!

Note: the young girls had given Star Jones quite a substantial deposit to have her appear with them. When they could not raise all the funds that Ms. Jones requested, she not only did not come to speak for them — she kept the deposit that the girl’s had raised.
