It is something to be learned from just like any other life experience or mistake that people make. No one here is perfect or has the right to sit in judgement of him; your mistakes are not better. McNair is the best, and a class act. No man is without faults, but basically this was a good man who took care of his family and kids. Back when hurricane Katrina hit, he went deep into his pockets and donated food, clothes, money, and time for the relief efforts. Maybe he did cheat on his wife, but by all accounts he wasn’t abusive and did what he was supposed to do for his family by spending quality time and money with them. He came from a tiny historically black college in MS and faced all kinds of scrutiny when he arrived in the NFL because they thought blacks were not smart enough to play NFL QB—let alone a country black from a small school. They even tried to move him to another position, but he would not switch. He responded by becoming one of the best QBs the league has ever seen. I will never forget the way he played in that Super Bowl and the play he made late in the game to extend that drive. He should be looked at as a hero to all Americans–especially blacks. He was hated on and discriminated against and didn’t let it stop him; he never lost his confidence or work ethic, and proceeded to make himself into one of the best. He made a lot of hate filled prejudiced detractors into fans of his. He paved the way for black QB’s after him, and you ignorant brothers and hateful sisters need to recognize and show respect. This was a pioneer and everybody that knew him loved him. Don’t spit venom just because you are failures and filled with hate.

This relationship was not without “risk” or “consequence.” It came at a price. To act like Steve had nothing to do it with it is a miscarriage of universal justice.

It’s the same way that you guys harp on black women who have babies out of wedlock. You tell us that we made bad choices and exercised poor judgment. The same with Steve. He participated in his own demise by having a relationship with this woman. That’s all I’m saying.

Something I do know about…I used to get my hair cut at the same barbershop as SMc…in 1999-2000. He was cheating on his wife back then. Things don’t change just cause your wife has children. And he wasn’t ever in danger of leaving his wife for any one of the broads he had relationships with. And I don’t mean 1 night stands, I mean relationships. This is what is commonly known as a “Family Shame Killing” in the Arabic and Indian worlds. When a young lady brings shame upon the family (by venturing outside of their race)… it is commonplace (not in America but overseas) for a male family member (either a brother, father, or uncle) to kill the female and in this case her male companion. It also happened a few years ago in Canada with an Indian girl killed by her father.

If we lived in a country where racism didn’t exist, then I’m sure many middle eastern business loan applicants would chose “other” rather than white since “other” more accurately describes their racial/ethnic makeup.

I know that all financial institution don’t figure race into their lending practices, but some, perhaps a lot of them do. It has been proven that whites are often offered loans at better terms and better interest rates than equally qualified non-white applicants.

I’m sure there are some light complected black people passing for white when it comes to loan applications also.

I live here in Nashville, and it’s just a tragedy all the way around. Steve McNair was a real leader in the community. He was very charitable and had just opened a restaurant in a predominately poor part of town in an attempt to uplift the community.
I think it’s a sad situation and even though he cheated on his wife he didn’t deserve to die like and this 20 year old lady has cut her own life short.
Let’s pray for McNair’s family and the young lady’s too…it’s sad that she decided to take her own life and it’s even sadder that she decided to take someone with her.

The strangest thing about this right now is the fact that i am a married and pregnant wife of 3 kids to my 36 year old husband who is currently cheating on me with a 20 to 21 year old girl. I do not wish death on anyone, however Steve did hurt his family and my husband is hurting me and his own family. When you do this, sometimes you end up paying for the consequences the hard way, but death is definitly not the way. I am hurting and feeling hurt for his wife and kids and all the families who are hurt by this.

My heart goes out to both victims family,especially Steve McNairs children. I think that what is important in all this is that another set of children will be fatherless. Another person under the age of 25 was needlessly taken away.

If his wife was waiting in the condo (she may have a key), one of them would have tried to run as the first was being shot. The bodies if found close together would mean a quick murder. Crimes of passion are confrontational not professional. His wife may have slipped the key to her boyfriend and let him handle the business. Still murder suicide looks most logical.

It is truly amazing how many people are soooo righteous, perfect and have never done anything wrong. Steve was not perfect, he was human. I do not agree with him cheating on Mechelle, but no one can judge him but God. No one knows what he was telling Sahel, what his marital situation was(seperated, seeking divorce, etc.) or any intimate details. All of this is pure speculation. What we do know is that he will be sorely missed. Anyone who knew him, loved him. He was a great person, who was very generous and caring.

I am sorry you are going through this. Amidst the pain, please constantly send your unborn child the energy of love and protection that it needs. What your husband is doing is selfish, more so because he is affecting not only you, but your kids and your unborn child. A man that is this selfish at this point in time won’t just won’t drop everything and come back to you. The most important thing is to not let him control you. i.e at anything nice he says feel hope that he “might change”. It’s sooo hard, I know from personal experience. But don’t let him completely dictate your emotions or you will feel like you are losing control of yourself.

Listen to your gut feeling. Know that there will be pain but think of your health , the children and your baby. Surround yourself with positive people and know that everything happens for a reason, even if it’s unclear at this moment…goodluck.

He was a great athlete, did charitable work, etc, but charity starts at home.. with his wife and four children. He will be forever known for the way he died, not the way he lived. I feel sorry for McNair’s family. Whilst he may have been a legend and hero on the football field, he has left his family an embarassing memory. It’s sad to lose a loved one. It’s even worse when you lose them over stupidity.

I know of a situation where a young man was killed here in my hometown, by another man for stepping out with the other man’s girl. The wife of the man killed cancelled funeral arrangements once the true story broke of why the man was killed, held a small ceremony at the local crematory and when they presented her with the ashes, she promptly dumped them out of the urn into the nearest trash can on her way out the door in front of his whole family and hers!

This guy was cheating,and his wife knew it. Her worse fear did not come to pass, that he would leave her and the children, but morely likely a fantasy that he would one day have to pay with his life. Sad for the children; they are the only ones who are truly innocent and touched by tragedy in this terrible situation.

I met Steve McNair on a couple of occasions and he was a really nice guy. Very much the gentleman and very beloved in Nashville. However, it was known that he had a woman (before the last one) in a condo for several years. So his infedility isn’t new or unknown in these parts.

Fact is, if there a professional athlete who is not cheating is a rarity. And that’s really sad.
BUT as terrible as this situation is NO ONE DESERVED TO DIE!
And to say so is completely ridiculous.

Apparently Steve and his wife were divorcing and they were handling things as adults do.

Face it girls, black men don’t love any race of women like they love each other. Keeping it real, there are so many DL brothers out there that it’s not even worth the fight any more. Let the white women have them. They don’t mind if they have boyfriends on the side. Last but not least, white men money last much longer. Black men only get rich to go broke (lol).
