Nia Long Defends Saying All Lives Matter After Black Fans Slam Her

We recently reported that actress Nia Long was getting relentlessly roasted on social media for an Instagram post where she used the hashtag #AllLivesMatter.

The actress recently posted a picture to advocate for prison reform, a worthy cause, but decided that the hashtag that negates the message of the #BlackLivesMatter was appropriate in the caption.

And while some fans politely corrected her about the hashtag…

Nia recently spoke to EurWeb and defended her use of the phrase and says that she believes all lives do matter. Nia says one of her girlfriends is a lawyer for The Innocence Project.

“I’m thinking in general lives, meaning everyone. And it’s like a hashtag just changes the whole trajectory of your popularity on social media!”

“At the end of the day, I don’t care who you are,” she continued. “If you’re in jail for something you did not do, you should be exonerated. At the end of the day, we are all human beings. So yes, all lives do matter. And it’s not a disrespect, and it’s not a campaign. It’s just what I think.”

What do you think of Nia’s comments?
