Ranking The 20 Best TV Couples From The 90s
The 90s was a great era for Black TV. We saw some legendary shows and some great Black love to boot. These 20 couples were great and we love them so much that we wanted to rank them to see who was king and queen. Take a look and enjoy the trip down memory lane.
20. Urkle and Laura – This is sort of when the show jumped the shark but hey, we gotta give him credit for persistence.
18. Steve and Pricipal Greer – They were so off again/on again but they had so much…tension in ever scene.
16. Stefan Urkel and Laura – This mostly just proved that Laura was sort of superficial but hey what do we know. They still had us excited for a bit.
15. Cole and Big Shirley – Cole loved him some Big Shirley. Sure she was hard on him but all he wanted to do was keep giving her snacks. That’s all he cared about. Now that’s love.

14. Tommy and Pam – Their relationship was short-lived but we loved it while it lasted. Tommy standing up for Pam in front of Martin made our hearts grow three sizes.
13. Ron and Freddie – Their relationship started in some shady ways…they were just absolutely adorable and complemented themselves perfectly.
12. Scooter and Khadija -Living Single – They were such a great couple and all we wanted was for them to end up together. We loved every moment of them on TV together.
11. Urkel and Mira – Family Matters – She LOVED him. So, so, so much. He was head-over-heels for Laura for most of their relationship, but when he bought in they were great.
10. Jamie and Fancy – The Jamie Foxx Show – When Jamie did “How Does It Feel”…it became real that they were destined for legendary relationship status.
9. Harriet and Carl Winslow – Family Matters – They were hardworking and loving. Can’t say anything bad about the Winslows!
8. Will and Lisa – Their relationship lasted a couple of seasons and they had an unforgettable chemistry. Unfortunately, they had a terrible, weird ending but salute to them anyway.
7. Maxine and Kyle – Living Single – They were on again/off again but their sexual chemistry was off the charts. They hated each other but loved each other. We’ve all been there.
6. Eddie Torres and Nina Moreno – New York Undercover Who can forget New York Undercover? Eddie and Nina fought crime together and loved each other. Though one of them died in the series, we still love their love.
5. Overton and Sinclair – Living Single – They were cheesy, corny, happy love and they gave us life. If you ever lose faith in love, just watch them.
4. Cliff and Claire Huxtable – The Cosby Show – Okay, this is a tough one because of Bill Cosby’s real history, but we have to take that out of the picture. On camera, they were the definitive couple for a while. We never saw them struggle, so they don’t get #1.
3. Uncle Phil and OG Aunt Viv – Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air – We’re not going to discuss the other Aunt Viv so the OG gets included here. They were revolutionary, loving and all-around great. They’re hard to top.
2. Martin and Gina – Martin – It’s hard to top Martin and Gina. There’s something about watching them struggle and fight and make up made it all real to us. And ladies, who doesn’t want a man who can get your head stuck in the headboard?
1. Whitley and Dwayne – A Different World – They are the perennial couple from the 90s. We saw them struggle through college with break-ups and makeups. Then we saw Dwayne steal her from her man and then we saw them make marriage work. They are real-life #goals and we never forgot them.
