It may be a crisis but it is not everything that we are. When was the last time you killed a black man. Is this any where near the sum of what we have offered this country. How many kind, successful, positive, motivated and ambitious Black people do you run into every day.

How do shape an animals behavior? Is it by saying STOP. No you alter his conditions. You reward him with things he wants for doing what you want him too. Well all people are animals whether we can rationalize that or not.

You honestly can’t see there are outside forces working here? If you lock men with no other resources in a crowded plot of land with, alcohol, drugs, unhealthy foods and guns I think their life expectancy may just drop a bit.

Then how about we broadcast images of footage from those crowded rooms to the world. Every one who can identify with the people in that room will be distracted and demotivate with continuous play. Every one else will feel the conditions are justified by the behavior. The images become your negativity generator.

Eventually the people who are not in the crowded plot will find them selves there because the stereotype now justifies the conditions. This is science not coincidence.

However I think America may have some incentive to help. You can’t tear down pockets of the population in a integrated society. I wish that I could say I am shocked. But the truth is that I live in Los Angeles, and everyday on the news there are family masacres, involving children. Usually, fathers but occasionally sons, flipping out and killing the entire family, including small children. All different ethnic groups are now being represented in this growing trend.

To see a 17 year old killed a 4 year old, makes me only be able to say that these must truly be the last days, because everyday the behavior displayed all over the world, toward one another just becomes worse and worse. Children killing other children, sexual predators raping small children, one woman leaving her 6 kids to go to Nigeria for a month, with no food, water, or supervision. This list goes on and on of the news stories, and each one becomes worse than the last.

There seems to be no correlation to race, because sin touches all races, and no race is immune to it. I pray for the souls of the people lost that day, and I pray that heaven will be there home. Because the earth is sadly becoming a place not fit to live on anymore.

I could tell you stories of what my high school showed us when we learned from about Africa. I feel that the child support system is set up to the disadvantage of fathers, without any regard for the father’s choice, role, or importance.

The child support system is an extention of the welfare system which thrives on the government replacing, demonizing, and atm-fying fathers, especially fathers with brown skin in America.

Support of a child is a family matter.

If a woman chooses to have unprotected sex knowingly with a man who is: 1) not her husband or at the very least longterm committed partner on the same page regarding procreating together, 2) does not love her, 3) is incapable of taking care of himself let alone a rear a child 4) without education or job prospects 5) explicity clear on not wanting to be a father or husband to her, and lastly and most importantly 6) is incapable of taking care of herself as a single woman let alone a rear a child, then the sister does bear some responsibility and penance for her choices.

But to use the government to force a familial image, appearnce, and connection where there was never one legally or emotionally to begin with is a punk think thing to do.

The more honorable thing for a woman who has chosen a feeble foundation to bring and raise a child in this world is to rise up, educate herself, take a free job skills class, and work hard at maintaining employment and childcare.

Not spend every waking minute hating and chasing a man she fully knew was not committed nor family planning with her and using the government as a weapon for retribution for their own choices.

Then sisters give the children the brother’s last name as if to infer or force an acknowlegment.

What about the choices of men? I get tired of everyone always talking about choices that women make-sometimes men leave relationships. My best friend is going through a divorce now with a man who is educated, earns a decent living and they were married for four years. Now she is forced to go before the courts to get him to act responsibly because he hasn’t chosen to do so on his own. There are many cases like this one.

It is a family matter, and although it may sound idealistic…we have to view our communities as a family as well. Of course there is a huge issue with mental health in this instance, but anyone who commits senseless violence has a mental issue.

@Misty-the black mentality has everything to do with this issue-from the responses I’ve seen, most bloggers here are African American and so was the family related to this incident. Therefore we need to look at our own families,communities for the answers. Violence in our communities is leading cause of “our” mortality rate.

Sometimes the “save the marriage” or the “keep the husband” baby doesn’t save a troubled marriage or keep the husband whose heart is just not in the marriage any longer. There are always red flags before a troubled marriage reaches divorce court. Now, pregnant in divorce court, there must have been signs and clearly the baby was created in the midst of a troubled marriage. Still no excuse for sister to not stand on her own two feet and be responsible for her decisions. Painful as this may sound.

We have got to stop understimating our female intuition and playing victim at convenience. We know the differnce between loving or angry sex and we certainly know the difference between intended and planned procreation and self-serving procreation. Lets not insult our own female intelligence.

Im sorry, but I still don’t believe that the single mother should have to bear all responsibility for a life that two created. Clearly men have to be held accountable as well. We all make regrettable decisions-its not fair for the woman to always be the one left holding the bag. Then she is also blamed when she has to work hard to provide for her family and is not able to be there when she is needed most.

The reason why I go back to our mentality is because its a sad cycle. Many young women make bad choices in men because they never knew their own fathers, or were not exposed to positive male role models. Women are intelligent and resourceful, but we can’t continue to struggle to be both mommy and daddy. Even if the relationship doesn’t work out, am i worng to assume that a father should still be there for his child?

Women do…And since women carry the responsibility of child birth, logically it would be in their best interest to make sure it’s with someone that they’re not only married to, but shares their values and philosophy regarding shared parenthood. When talking about the horrible decisions we as men and women are making these days it may (or may not) be valuable to enlist the help of Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs.

The concept of the hierarchy is based on the successful maturation of a person from the start to the finish of their life.

The model has to do with there being five levels of focus that we go through as people in our personal evolution (or maturity.)

The Levels of the hierarchy are depicted below:

(Top) Self-actualization

personal growth and fulfillment

Esteem needs

achievement, status, responsibility, reputation

Belongingness and Love needs

family, affection, relationships, work group, etc.

Safety needs

protection, security, order, law, limits, stability, etc.

(Bottom) Biological and Physiological needs

basic life needs – air, food, drink, shelter, warmth, sex, sleep, etc.

They are normally depicted as a triangle at the bottom of the base are physical needs, and eventually coming to a point is self actualization.

t’s my belief that people go up and down this depending on impactful events in their lives. So the pyramid is more like a stairway with trap doors but no elevators.

However the point I am making is when picking a partner many of us seem to be fixated in the basic life needs category (food, shelter, sex, drink, warmth etc.).

However if we were really thinking long-term and about building strong families we should be selecting partners based on tier 2′s Safety needs (protection, security, order, law, limits, stability).

This creates the path way to family focus and love, which allows you to focus on status. The hierarchy has to be addressed in order you can’t go from the bottom to the top.

There is just no way for us to focus on basic life needs and reach family and stability. We have to first mature to level where security takes precedent over our physical needs.

I am feeling very good today about Obama’s chances despite all the distractions and controversy created by the Clinton’s new campaign strategist. I hear also that she has a history of being tied to scandal and has destroyed evidence incriminating one of the Clinton’s in the past. Do you know anything of this?

I also like the way you tied in the ways a racist strategy can destroy us at each level of the hierarchy of needs. This is exactly where I wanted to go next.

I see the most visible as the basic needs stage. You take away a man’s basic resources, you take away his ability to move up the hierarchy.

When fixated at the basic needs stage, he or she never reaches security, can’t focus on relationships and family (hence the family breakdown), You can’t build a healthy esteem and can’t become self actualized, give back to the community, or achieve spiritual greatness.

Some may say well what about those who appear to be getting their basic needs met and still can’t move up the hierarchy… Well in my opinion it’s relative… Our materialistic society has expanded the base of our basic needs dramatically.

So now many of us must have a certain level of shelter, a certain level of food, a perfect sex partner a specific car etc to feel like aur basic needs have been met. No to mention now it is becoming a luxury to have clean water and air.

As the culture breaks down it expands our needs for safety and security and so forth.

I think this is connected to the state of America not just the state of Black people or the lingering racist agenda.

Greed is pricing the American people right out of self actualization, self esteem, family stability, and even safety. We are taking steps back as a civilization and possibly retarding societal evolution.

I believe you are so right when it comes to race and poverty the hurdles become the size of the olympic high jump.

If we change our focus, we can change ourselves, if we can change ourselves we can change America, if we can change America we can change the world!

I share your sentiment regarding Obama today. I feel positive and strong in our belief and capability to change America and our world.

I will not reveal who I am. On behalf of my family (my husband and parents have valued your posts as well), we thank you for the kind metaphysical kinship you have extended to me on this “gossip site”.

You’re wisdom has restored a lost part of my spirit and voice and I am humbled and grateful, we all are.

Today I am paying forward about $1000 worth of my children’s outgrown clothing to one African-American single mother and one Hispanic single mother who came here with one bag of clothes for herslf and her child.

And I don’t pay forward condescending charity. I pay forward boutique brand freshly laundered gifts honoring the respect and dignity of the recipient.
