I share your sentiment regarding Obama today. I feel positive and strong in our belief and capability to change America and our world.

I will not reveal who I am. On behalf of my family (my husband and parents have valued your posts as well), we thank you for the kind metaphysical kinship you have extended to me on this “gossip site”.

You’re wisdom has restored a lost part of my spirit and voice and I am humbled and grateful, we all are.

Today I am paying forward about $1000 worth of my children’s outgrown clothing to one African-American single mother and one Hispanic single mother who came here with one bag of clothes for herslf and her child.

And I don’t pay forward condescending charity. I pay forward boutique brand freshly laundered gifts honoring the respect and dignity of the recipient.

People of all colors, we can all do what we can.

Yes We Absolutely Can!

I am feeling very good today about Obama’s chances despite all the distractions and controversy created by the Clinton’s new campaign strategist. I hear also that she has a history of being tied to scandal and has destroyed evidence incriminating one of the Clinton’s in the past. Do you know anything of this?

I also like the way you tied in the ways a racist strategy can destroy us at each level of the hierarchy of needs. This is exactly where I wanted to go next.

I see the most visible as the basic needs stage. You take away a man’s basic resources, you take away his ability to move up the hierarchy.

When fixated at the basic needs stage, he or she never reaches security, can’t focus on relationships and family (hence the family breakdown), You can’t build a healthy esteem and can’t become self actualized, give back to the community, or achieve spiritual greatness.

Some may say well what about those who appear to be getting their basic needs met and still can’t move up the hierarchy… Well in my opinion it’s relative… Our materialistic society has expanded the base of our basic needs dramatically.

So now many of us must have a certain level of shelter, a certain level of food, a perfect sex partner a specific car etc to feel like aur basic needs have been met. No to mention now it is becoming a luxury to have clean water and air.

As the culture breaks down it expands our needs for safety and security and so forth.

I think this is connected to the state of America not just the state of Black people or the lingering racist agenda.

Greed is pricing the American people right out of self actualization, self esteem, family stability, and even safety. We are taking steps back as a civilization and possibly retarding societal evolution.

I believe you are so right when it comes to race and poverty the hurdles become the size of the olympic high jump.

If we change our focus, we can change ourselves, if we can change ourselves we can change America, if we can change America we can change the world!

The Levels of the hierarchy are depicted below:

(Top) Self-actualization

protection, security, order, law, limits, stability, etc.

(Bottom) Biological and Physiological needs

basic life needs – air, food, drink, shelter, warmth, sex, sleep, etc.

They are normally depicted as a triangle at the bottom of the base are physical needs, and eventually coming to a point is self actualization.

If I may respectfully expound by adding a perspective on how racism operates to destroy us with attacks targeted at each tier on this heirarchy (read from bottom to top):

(Top) Self-actualization

personal growth and fulfillment

Racism ultimately aims to stunt our personal growth and fulfillment.

Esteem needs

achievement, status, responsibility, reputation

When racism sabotages our basic needs, security, ability to belong and be loved, we may substitute our humanity with a rootless drive for achievement and status but without foundation the responsibility may overwhelm and racism thrives most on attacking our reputation when its sabotage has left us overwhelmed and unprotected (ie. LOW cultural, community, and self ESTEEM or good old fashioned discouragement).

Belongingness and Love needs

family, affection, relationships, work group, etc.

Under a constant campaign of racist sabotage of our basic needs and holisic sense of security, we seek family, affection, relationships, *****ociates from a disproportionately disadvantaged place leaving many of us with a feeling rootless, without a sense of belonging, and unloved.

Safety needs

protection, security, order, law, limits, stability, etc.

By sabotaging our ability to meet our basic biological and physiological needs, racism aims to make our sense of protection, security, order, law, limits (and boundaries), and stability virtually impossible.

(Bottom) Biological and Physiological needs

basic life needs – air, food, drink, shelter, warmth, sex, sleep, etc.

With many of our people, especially our children, living in areas with the poorest air quality, overpriced poor quality food and drink, substandard shelter, lack of physical and emotional warmth, and suffering sleep deprivation due to disadvantaged work conditions even at the top enchelon of corporations, and all these resulting in desperate means of sexual gratification. Racism aims to sabotage the meeting of even our basic biological and physiological needs.

Racism resents our overcoming its sabotage to meet any criteria on this heirarchy, even free decent air to breathe, let alone personal growth and fulfillment.

The racism expressed (by the Billary Clintons) in this presidential race is symbolic of racist resentment of black self-actualization. Liberal racism advocates black people meeting basic needs but only on their terms and for the privilege to meet our basic needs they impose debt and penance and enforce penalty if you do not pay it (ie. psuedo universal healthcare which garnishes wages and penializes if you do not accept. Only a racist mind could dream up something like that).

Now do you see why so many disenfranchised people of all colors see their own possibility of self-actualization through Barack Obama’s self-actualizing? And now do you see why so many others resent his self-actualizing? It’s an established heirarchal system indeed and it is being challenged.

Just my two cents for all its worth.
