… In an effort to combat obesity head on, schools across the country have been implementing and issuing weight “report cards.” This program was actually launched in New York City public schools nearly a decade ago. According to New York City’s local CBS news station, “the report cards list the child’s body mass index (BMI) along with a designation ranging from underweight to obese.” However, a new study by the National Academy of Sciences found the policy doesn’t present an outcome of weight loss. Amy Ellen Schwartz, a Syracuse University professor, and her team studied four year’s worth of data and found those labeled “overweight” or “obese” generally did not go on to lose weight. “In fact, some students — especially girls — gained weight,” WCBS 880’s Alex Silverman reported…

Despite its medicinal purposes, weed and the people who smoke it, still get a bad rap. There are aggressive campaigns to make weed legal nationwide and a few states have acted on it and made the switch. The popular drug continues to remain an active recreational drug for a lot of people, teens included. Leaning on its “natural” ingredients, weed smoking amongst teens continues to rise with kids as young as 12 trying and using weed on a daily. Where are these kid’s parents!?… The other parenting problem with teens smoking weed are the parents who allow them to do it. They feel they are doing their children a service by buying and giving them weed versus having them buy it off the streets. Some parents would rather know their kid was safe smoking at home instead of puffing and passing with their friends outside…

Musician, slay gawd, passport photo wunderkind Prince will be dropping a memoir in 2017. The book will be titled The Beautiful Ones because we’re talking about Prince. Reports the New York Daily News: The Purple One will pen a memoir that begins with his very first memory, he announced Friday night during a show in New York City. “This is my first one. My brother Dan is helping me with it. He’s a good critic and that’s what I need. He’s not a ‘yes’ man at all and he’s really helping me get through this,” Prince told a crowd that included “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah and Harry Belafonte… The book is due out in the fall of 2017 via Random House imprint Spiegel & Grau.
