American Gangster is probably Jays second best album behind Reasonable Doubt, we have been getting great music. Dame did not bring in Beanie Sigel, Jay did because he knew Bean Sigels manager from Philly.

Plus Dame was going off on employees on Rocafella and Jay couldnt take it anymore. As another outsider looking in like ya’ll, I see this differently. What I see with today’s rich black entertainers and even business people, is black folks inability to build their legacy and brand. What I mean by that is, when are blacks folk’s names going to become common like Kennedy, Johnson, and even the real Rockefeller? If he is so “LARGE” or so much the man, why can’t he do that and even force Viacom, BET or whomever’s hand in letting the kid perform.

Way I heard it, Covergirl was the main culprit. They threatened to pull out if Brown showed. Brown had to pony up the money for endorsements that would have been lost had he appeared/performed on the show…
He couldn’t come with the difference so BET let him go. What’s the issue? It seems that an effort was made to appease all parties. After all, they actually (initially) extended an invitation to Brown. BET really didn’t HAVE to do that.
But of course BET and it’s parent company will bend to a major company. They *****yzed the bottom line and made a business decision…not a personal one.
Anyway I fail to see what JayZ has to do with it or how he ‘took money from Chris’ mouth’.

BET could have just replaced Jay with another performer. Or cut the segment slot. They were running over time anyway. The drawback? There’s a chance that Beyonce would’ve jumped ship, too. But I peeped that performance and the show would have been better off without the ‘howling canary’ on-board.
