Oh I forgot in this forum you must state: “IMO” before speaking. I could care less who this child belongs to. Yes, I think she is cute, her hair is natural and not all burned and permed out (my nephew has dread locks) her skin is a very pretty color and by the looks of it smooth in texture. That shirt is too cute (I would rock it with some skinny jeans and a pair of gladiator or goddess sandals). So again I think she is cute. Everyone goes through awkward stages and her being a preteen is about to start hers but now AND when she moves past that she is gonna kill ‘em out here AND to boot she has a name…what is yours?

and the girls hair is cute. she is only 11! She and her sister have a lot of hair on their heads and why? because they dont damage it with a relaxer. Even if you have a lot of long relaxed her, chemicals in the hair is bad and can cause damage if not properly cared for. The thing with many Black people is that as soon as your daughter reaches a decent age,we slap on the relaxer. That’s all some people know so, when they see a natural hairstyle they’re like, “Ew, that girl needs a relaxer asap.” Most, if not all girls don’t even have a say of whether they want to remain natural or not. It’s like a rite of p*****age or something. I think some Black people will tell you that relaxers make our hair more manageable–yes in a way; however, they don’t realize that natural hair is also manageable once you learn to have the patience to deal with it. And then some of us wonder why our hair never reaches past a certain length. Barack’s daughter’s hair looks nice and healthy, I see nothing wrong with it.

Im not bashing…just like if my little girl wanted to come out the house with 50 zillion barets on her hair; the same point is here too…twists, braids are fine, BUT let it look nice….it’s all ova her head and don’t look good..i know when I was her age; I wanted some weird hairstyles…but my mom schooled me on what is appropriate….the hair looks unkempt….
I wear my natural hair in twists also. The reason why her twists might look weird is because her hair was probably straightened and THEN twisted. The twist effect really looks better on coily hair; they don’t look as beautiful on straight hair… imo.
