Lockdown Lifted After Capitol Shooting Suspect Placed In Custody

A male suspect was shot and placed in custody today after shots were fired in the Capitol Visitor Center. One female bystander was injured from shrapnel.

The Capitol Complex was immediately placed on lockdown and civilians were told to find “shelter in place” while officials located and subdued the suspect. The incident is said to be isolated.

From CNN:

“The gunman attempted to go through the metal detectors at the Capitol Visitor Center entrance. When those magnetometers beeped, he was stopped by security and then pulled out a gun. A Capitol police officer then shot him, sources told CNN.”

The lockdown is now lifted and business operations are back to normal.

So glad that this guy got caught quickly because this could have easily gone wrong with so many people visiting the Capitol.
