GOP Representative of Iowa, Steve King, was the only congressman to vote “no” against a plaque, to be placed in the Capitol, recognizing the history of slave labor. His vote of opposition stood alone against a cause that was, otherwise, overwhelmingly easily approved. The House of Representatives voted 399-1 for the Capitol Visitor’s Center to house a plaque acknowledging the slave labor that went into the actual construction of the Capitol building. Continue…

Mr. King has shown in the last couple of days his apparent undercover racist mentality. He was the same congressman who made those distasteful comments about Michael Jackson. Obviously he has issues with anything that is associated with African Americans…and before some idiot gets on here and starts talking about..” is he racist only because he has a different point of view”?..yada, yada, yada…why hasn’t he spoke out about any issues which involve whites such as the Mark Sanford affair, or Ensign affair and how they used taxpayer money to support their mistresses??? Maybe he is not a racist, maybe he is just your everyday Repubican a*&hole!!

More reason to never move to Iowa… besides the fact that it’s boring as hell.

I understand everyone’s frustration and ok he voted against something that we all think should happen but read the whole story and his reasonings behind it. He’s not racist he was just trying to make a point really. To all my Christians, or to anyone who believes in God…the librals or lets call them what they are people who dont believe in God are trying to take “In God We Trust” off money, “Under God” out of the pledge..come on now inspite of everyone’s differences we all turn to God in the bad times that’s what this nation was built on and thats who everyone knows to turn to when they really need help. This white man was only trying to take a stand for what he believed in. Do I agree with him…yeah I do, but I’m sure he could have found another way to take that stand.

@ bmore chick–As a liberal I believe in God, and I believe being a christian requires actions, not just lip service. Christ said to help the poor, the widows, the orphans. He also said not to judge, and to love thy neighbor as thyself. It seems to me that liberals have figured out what it means to really be a christian. The conservatives speak of being christians, but they are against everything and everyone. They are against helping the poor, but are for capitalism and corporate agendas. They judge the homosexuals, they look down on people on welfare, and speak against raising the minimum wage. What, I ask, is Christain about the conservative agenda? The bible speaks of false prophets. I really think people like bmore and other conservative “christians”, that have the audacity to judge other’s beliefs in God should take a look at themselves. They need to ask themselves just how many people have they helped that were in need. You can fool man, but you can’t fool God. “Faith without WORKS is dead.” Never forget the parable of the “Good Samaritan.” Never forget that “It will be easier for a camel to get through a needle’s eye, than for a rich person to enter the kingdom.” Never forget that Jesus said “If you love me then feed my little sheep.” Yes I am a liberal, and I try to understand what Christ was really about. No I don’t go to church every Sunday, but what I do is try to live a morally clean life, I pray for forgiveness of my sins, and I pray that all people get fair treatment in this corrupt world. I let God judge those that sin, and I disdain self righteous people. Perhaps you and your conservative friends should try to do the same.
