BTW, you may be interested in Anderson Cooper’s interview with President Obama on his historic trip to Africa. It airs on CNN Monday at 10 ET. It will also explore slavery and have footage from the Cape Coast Castle in Ghana, where slaves were kept before they were sent overseas as part of the trans-Atlantic trade.

I just watched a segment about it on CNN — The Justice Department is reviewing the incident. One of the young campers was interviewed, and the little boy’s voice was cracking with emotion. I’m livid that these children experienced such humiliation and outright racism in 2009.

I don’t know if you ever saw the HBO movie years ago with Halle as Dorothy Dandridge, but it depicted a dehumanizing incident she experienced when she performed at a hotel in Vegas, I believe, and the hotel drained the entire swimming pool to keep her from entering. Older generations recall this sort of discrimination well. It’s appalling that these children in Pa. were publicly demeaned and were forced to watch people exit the pool and make offensive remarks.
