I think some people are reading too much into the statement. Mos Def is NOT saying that this is his opinion of Obama. He’s just saying that based on his A&R experience he realizes that some people are giving a chance in the business (or politics) based on their looks…but he’s not saying that just because he looks good doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any substance.

Barack is not winning because of his looks he’s winning primarily on the anti-Clinton front and quite frankly Barack has not won the presidency yet. also, the people that are talking about mos def being right are thinking in terms of entertainment. in the entertainment industry, i would agree that looks matter. but who in here chooses their doctor on how cute he/she is? or their school based on how fine the professors are? but we are talking about politics here. and while being physically repugnant might hurt, i don’t think being good looking helps that much.
