I know what you are saying still. Ghana is a hot commodity now, especially to countries like China and India who are investing money in its infrastructure, with the government promising them in return, a stake in its discovered oil. But if the Ghanaian government is going to be stupid enough to continue to give up all our natural resources, then sooner or later, Ghana will be just like Nigeria–filled with corruption with the people never getting what is rightfully theirs.
what impact in M.O. having on the planet? Planting a little veggy garden at the White House, showing her toned arms, having a nice wardrobe, and smiling nicely for the camera does not a remarkable planetary impact make. In 2006 when Obama was a Senator he came to Kenya and was very well received in all the quarters of our republic from the common mwananchi (citizen)to the top government officials. Stayed in the country for a duration of three days and now three years later He is all kind excuses about governance yet he travelled all the way to Egypt a country where democracy is unknown.
So for President Obama not to visit Kenya as his 1st sub saharan country since *****uming presidency was not about governance but purely what can the US get in return and that is the newly discovered oil riches in Ghana

Tell you what the world needs, more leaders who excercise temperance and tolerance like Obama. Africa has always had the potential to be the greatest continent on planet earth with its wealth of resources and its rich cultural heritages. Slavery and colonialization was a major derailment but in 2009 the greatest threat to African prosperity is Africans who refuse to put their distrust and their differences aside for the betterment of the continent as a whole.
Obama is the President of the USA not, Africa (I know that includes many diff countries). So of course he will not be the one to ‘fix’ Africa, African nations and their governments will have to do that for themselves. African politicians are no better than politicians anywhere else so leave Obama alone

As a Ghanaian i was as happy as any black person when Obama got elected, super-happy but this visit is a disgrace. Using the guise of having ‘the blood of Africa’ and even visiting Cape Coast (a famous Castle for chaining and detaining slaves, not a ‘presidential’ castle, Bossip)to hide his true reasons.
Ghana is peaceful and independent, we have also just discovered oil…
They also wish to implement ‘Africom’, placing US military bases in Africa in exchange for money. ugh.

Yay Ghana! As a Ghanaian-American (parents are Ghanaian), I am glad some positive light is being shed on Africa. A lot of people here are olny exposed to the horrible streotypes of what Africa and it’s countries are like.

You think its wise for Obama to show allegiance to a country he’s only tied to because of his father? ethnocentric opinion in poiltics is one of the many problems in Africa.And in my opnion,pretty pathetic.Ghana was the first in BLACK Africa to gain its independence and has been able to have peaceful elections as well as be a force in many world organizations from the UN to being the head of the African Union.Pan Africanism for Africans was born in Ghana.And currently it is one of the only countries with a stable government and visible improvement Kenya cannot even imagine.Ghana is a very symbolic place for Africa.
