Katie Rost And Ashley Darby Blast Gizelle Bryant

As the debut season of Real Housewives of Potomac came to close viewers saw the moment at Charisse’s 50th birthday party that Ashely Darby told Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon that they were “biracial like her”, much to the dismay of the fully black women.

The ladies then carried on the drama at the reunion where Katie Rost, another biracial cast mate, called out Gizelle for claiming that her white relatives disliked her.

Katie has now taken to her Bravo blog to clap back at Gizelle who she says “should stop processing her hair” and wearing “green contacts.”

Via Bravo TV:

KR: Self – appointed race czar Gizelle actually said to me that half of my family hates me because I’m black and they are white. A totally racist, hateful, stupid thing to say. Very offensive. This woman goes on and on about her pride in her father and she NEVER talks about her mother, which is strange.

Well I’m proud of both my mother and my father and I celebrate them both all the time. Racism is Gizelle’s badge of honor and she certainly wears it every day– it’s a bad look that has gone out of style just like her cheap 90’s lingerie.

Maybe she should stop processing her hair and free her afro like me and Ashley.

Stop hiding under the bleach bottle and the green eye contacts and deflecting by talking about everybody but you, no one is buying it anymore sweetie.

“She never talks about her mother”??? Is she inferring that Gizelle’s mom could be white???

Ashley’s got some words for Gizelle as well who dubbed her “THOTish” after first meeting her and talked about her “big bush” of natural hair.

Via BravoTV:

What do you think about Gizelle’s comments on your afro at the Reunion, and insisting she did not mean it as an insult?

AD: I feel like Gizelle decided to back track after being called out on her s***. She makes a great deal of effort to make herself look more European, including straightening her hair and dying it blonde. Sure, everyone is entitled to look the way they want but it’s completely wrong to mock others’ choices.

It took me quite some time to get comfortable with my curls, especially when I made the leap two years ago. I was worried my husband would look at me differently, as I would not have the same appearance as when he met me four years prior.

But I was preaching to other people about being true to themselves, while I wasn’t living my own truth. Now I am incredibly proud of my natural hair and rock it all the time!

Women like Gizelle, who reference themselves in third person and take a million selfies, need to go on a journey of self-love and get comfortable with the lifelong vehicle they’ve been given to drive.

Gizelle has since responded…

On Katie:

Bravotv.com: Tell us about your clash with Katie about race and what are your thoughts on how heated the conversation got?

GB: Unfortunately race will always be a hot button for most people in this country. However, it doesn’t have to be so heated. If you’re SECURE in who and what you are then there’s no discussion. So clearly Katie will be talking, and taking and talking until the cows come home.

On Ashley and her “THOTish” comments about her:

GB: I have no idea why Ashley is STILL in a tailspin. I never called her a THOT. I said she has THOT-ish behavior. My comment was highly justified. I met her and within 30 minutes, I knew her husband’s penis size, sexual appetite and watched her hump Robyn’s leg. I’m sorry, that’s not acting like a lady. Wow, as far as Ashley’s hair is concerned. She knows I love her “big bush”. I tell her to wear it all the time AND I’ve asked her the products that she uses so that I can use them on my children. I think she brought up me not liking her hair because she just wanted to hear herself talk. She got lonely all the way on the other end of the couch (emoji sad face).

Robyn Dixon, the other cast mate accused of being biracial, is also speaking on the race topic that constantly came up this season.

Robyn wishes she could take back some of her words on race. She asked Ashley this season if it was a “white guy thing” when her husband groped Katie’s ex-fiancee’s butt.

Via BravoTV:

Bravotv.com: If there’s anything you can go back and do differently, what would it be and why?

RD: Filming The Real Housewives of Potomac was a fun experience; however, watching The Real Housewives of Potomac has been an eye-opening experience. After watching the show, I realized that when dealing with people who don’t truly know me as a person, things said can get easily misunderstood and taken too personally.

I would have thought twice before speaking, because although I never mean any harm (and most times I am just joking), there truly isn’t enough time on a short season of one hour episodes to explain who I am and exactly where I am coming from.

Although I personally don’t look at the mention/discussion of race to be uncomfortable or controversial, I’ve learned that many others are not as comfortable hearing people speak about race, even on light topics such as butt grabbing. I am not racist in any way and having people (cast and viewers) misunderstand me and call me racist was truly a black mark on a great season.
