The shady Clintons and their “compromised” negro mafia backers such as the NAACP’s Julian Bond, Magic Johnson, Robert Johnson, Maxine Waters, and Charles Rangel are working overtime today to make sure Barack Obama doesn’t become the first Black democratic nominee and more importantly, The next President of the United States. Michelle and Barack need you to go out to the polls today in Texas and Ohio and make it rain on them hoes.

Stand Up and accept our people’s rendezvous with destiny! YES WE CAN! Knock Hillary out tonight.

Click here to view another desperate tactic by those shady Clintons.

  • yes we can

    first!

  • yes we can

future president obama and the future first lady look great together!

  • OBAMA IN OHIO!!

That’s right, TX/OH stand up and get your vote on!!

    OBAMA ’08 & ’12

    YES WE CAN!! &

    YES WE WILL!!

  • Eye

I love those 2. Obama is so optomistic but on the real, yall, if I were inheriting the problems that the US has now, I would constantly be breathing in a bag trying to mitigate the anxiety attacks. Bush bankrupted the country and made the rest of the world hate us. Obama has a trainwreck to sort out and fix.

Alright! Hopefully it’ll be over tonight.

    :-)

  • NotoriousOne

    @ Eye…

“Obama has a trainwreck to sort out and fix.”

I guarantee you like anything else in life this ish is just a challenge. Which makes it even MORE commendable that he would be running for POTUS. It was easy to come in after Bill when the country was flush w/ cash and in great economic condition. But for Obama to run in ’08 when he can conceivably wait 4 or 8 years, that just speaks volumes on Obama’s leadership.

  • FDA

    Gooooo!!!!!!!!Obaaaaaaammma!!!!!!!!

Warren Ballentine has called for a voting Blackout if Hillary tries anything dirty to get ahead in this race(and the new Bonnie and Clyde will definitely try to steal another election) The Clintons are Bush Pals.

If Hillary and Bill try anything or the race is stolen by the super delegates Warren Ballentine has mentioned a Blackout…refuse your votes to Hillary and vote independent. Let her superdelegates get over the hump.

Barack has been to receiving of Hillary’s underhanded schemes and belittled remarks. Who wants another term of Bush affiliated governing.

“Hell no” I wouldn’t want Hillary to pick up a emergency foreign policy call… but she won’t pick it up anyways Bill will pick it up. Hillary’s experience is in standing by a man that cheats and makes shady deals and she’s been a good student, she has experience in long suffering wiht a man that ruined his own status for another woman and she stood right by him.. there’s a reason behind it… and it was to run for president.she had a scheming plan. What a mess of a representation of a woman. I’ll do independent before i settle for someone i don’t share views with nor the deceitful tactics. Cynthia Mckinney (african america woman) or Nader are running independents. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

    @ NotoriousOne

that just speaks volumes on Obama’s leadership

I really think it speaks to his optimism as a person and his abilitiy to bring people together to solve huge problems. Divided we fall and that is for everyone who calls themselves American. This isn’t about black or white, woman or man, it is about the future of our country and Hillary and McCain will use the POTUS pulpit to carry us further into debt. Obama can change the course because he is a unifier.

i don’t know what that is on her wrist, but i like that dress, i like the earrings, and i like the shade of her lipstick. She is very classy. So is Barack. They’ll make fine First Portraits. Can you imagine Barack’s painting in the Gallery of presidents? dang.

I’m not feeling the different times. It just seems later and later. Reminds me of when some were telling people that Election Day is on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. Remember that misinformation that was spread back in 2004, in certain predominantly black neighborhoods?

DO NOT GET THERE AT 7:15pm! (if you voted early)

thinking it’s alright, if you’re in Texas. The CPT isn’t going to help. Hillary’s people will shut the door on you, just as was done in Las Vegas, and just as is being planned for tonight apparently.

GET THERE EARLY. If you’re 30 minutes early, you’re late. That kind of mindset. But I’m not there, so I can’t talk.

Everybody have a good rest of the day.

Forgive me, but that line of reasoning makes no sense whatsoever to me. No, you are not the only black person voting for Hillary…. though those black folk holding Hillary signs in Ohio yesterday were discovered to have been paid $6/hour for the privilege, they were not actual Hillary supporters (no one knows whether the white Massachusetts natives she bussed into Ohio to demonstrate in front of one of Obama’s offices yesterday were paid for their ‘support’, as well).

The reason why it doesn’t make sense is that many of the people who are voting for Hillary Clinton (why do you call them Billary if you are a supporter?) are voting for them for nostalgia reasons, they want a return to the 90s, and the bliss of the internet bubble and gas for under a dollar. You’re right, those times will not return — but voting for Hillary and Bill (who co-signed a lot of the legislation which came to negative fruition under Bush, and have tried to blame it all on Republicans and not their propensity for pushing even friends away), is not the answer. They had their chance, they had their two terms under the Constitution. They are not Cincinnatus, and that’s a shame.

But what really gets me is your saying that we won’t have Universal Health Care, and that’s the only thing Hillary Clinton really cares about policy wise. Who knows the real reason why, since she isn’t exactly a people person or an empathetic to the little people person. She’s an elitist and always has been. Ask those who analyze why her health care plan failed the first time.

So if you’re not voting for Obama because you’re a cynic, why vote for Hillary and Bill (the two for one)? What do they offer you, that seems more grounded in where you think America should be?

(Off topic: new link in the handle, a further discussion of whether or not Hillary OJ’d Obama’s picture in her new ad where she twists the truth about what was said at the debate.)

  • astrid

Hillary is going to stay in the race until the convention in Denver so that the SuperDelegates will be the deciding factor instead of the actual votes from the people. She’s a manipulative, bipolar psycho!

Hillary may win Texas. There are too many hispanics over there! You heard the one say on CNN. “Hello Obama nice to have change but we don`t know you!“ She may win Ohio too since you call he `Ho`on this blog all the time. We`re watching you from Canada. Keep the guns away from our borders!

  • Honeydipt

I’m from Ohio and already there’s drama at the polls! There was a bomb threat at one location that shut down polls for 90 minutes. And in another location, there “allegedly” was a natural gas leak which means they are closing down the location and evacuating the poll workers because they have reported “feeling dizzy”.

I smell a DIVERSION going on here!!!! They will do anything to stop the voting process from happening! People get out there and do your duty, this is what our ancestors fought for!! Know your rights and don’t stop until your vote is cast! This is history and I’m so damned proud to see it happening in the my lifetime and to be able to share this with my sons…

I hope Hillary wins big today: Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island. She is the best person for the job and the people of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, California, New Mexico, Tennessee, Arkansas, Michigan and Florida all know that she is about SOLUTIONS and not SPEECHES. Obama at the end of the day is just another politician, sneaky and shady, remember Pharell had that song “You can get this lap dance here for Free” except Baracks song is HOPE CHANGE HOPE CHANGE HOPE CHANGE CHANGE!

    Hillary ‘o8

  • OBAMA ’08

Even if Hilary wins both Texas and Ohio, she won’t win by wide enough margins to even come close to catching up. Is she wins, it’ll be so close that they’ll just split the delegates, thus leaving her at the exact same place.

    Obama ’08 YES WE CAN!

  • and another one…

Yes we can! Go Obama! Lets get it!

Always has been, always will be.

Regardless of who your candidate is. Please vote Democratic.

I listen to the Big Fat White Man (R. Limbough) somtimes, and he is urging Republican to “pimp themselves for a day” and vote for Hillary to keep Dems. divided. Its stuffing the balot b/c they dont like their own nominees either!

They know Obama as a Nominee will slaughter, “Crypt Keeper McCain” in NOV. so they want Democrats to prolong the enevitible until their too divided to defeat “A walking Dead Guy” for president.

Think About it you Clinton supporters.

Be humble enough to cast your vote for Obama if/when Hillary is no longer an option. Muchas Gracias.

I agree with you “The Truth”. It was them who made fun of people who strive for education(like Barack Obama) and wanted to get out of bad situations and now they are jumping on bandwagons. Since when did they agree with Oprah Winfrey when she has never supported them and mocked their music and culture. They mess everything up and now they want to act like they are informed on politics. They forced a respectable leader of the Civil Rights movement to switch his support, which he said was the hardest thing he has ever had to do. How did black americans mess up this country when

    1. Blacks make up about 13% (US census 2004)

    2. This country was founded by and has always been lead by a WHITE MAN.

    3. This country caters to white men.

    4. “Black entrepreneurs owned 1.2 million companies in the 2002, or about 5 percent of all nonfarm businesses in the U.S.” (1997-2002 Census from msnbc.com)

If we make so little of this country and own so little in this country then how is it that we have caused so much damnage? And as far as ppl supporting Oprah, I wasn’t aware that if you were black you HAD TO SUPPORT HER. I admire and respect Oprah Winfrey and not b/c she gave me anything. I’m sure you think all blacks want a hand out but that’s just not so. She has endured a lot and is still a good person. While you have white men and women who have never had to want for anything and they are the most disgusting, hateful, and disrespectful people alive. Not to mention everytime I turn on MSBC 90% of the men trying to have sex with children are WHITE. Whether in this country or traveling to other countries. You may want to check you facts or just shut up.

I do not think it’s a fair representation to call the African-American supporters of Hilary Clinton the “compromised” negro mafia. Is it not the whole point of our system that we don’t want white people to vote for other whites solely because they’re white? Do we not apply that same logic to African-Americans? Are we supposed to vote for Obama solely because he’s black (well, African and White)? Is it not the fact that in our system any person may support any candidate based upon any rationale the thing that is making it possible for Obama to do well? Must we ALWAYS stand in judgment of others because they don’t act the way we do or would? Let them be grown people and make their own decisions. You have no idea why each one of them have decided to support Clinton but just because they have doesn’t make them compromised.

I am one of the blacks that will vote for Hillary. I just don’t believe the Nation has changed that much since Sean Bell and Jena 6. Oh, let’s not for get about the woman in Florida being forced to eat feces, stabbed, and beaten. You people are so desperate for change that it has made you naive to the history and realities of this nation…correction “World”. Any time you have 7 out of 10 whites in Idaho voting for Obama over Clinton…you have to take notice. If Al Gore, John Kerry, and John Edwards couldn’t win, then Obama surely “CAN NOT”. This will be a easy win for McCain if Obama wins.

  • Ghost

CNN is reporting Obama won Vermont by a landslide.

  • Bohwe

Look people Obama will be good for the economy, why? because overseas countries love him. Forget about race and politics right now. Africa is basically an untapped market, Nigeria,Ethiopia and many other countries have natural resources, and yes oil. What better way to tap into that market, than to have a spokesperson like Obama, a man that has close ties to the continent. A man that can make great deals for the U.S. and not take advantage of the LDC’s. Trust and believe the big corporations and big politicans are looking at a new market, to get us out of the Middle East and their drama.

And people let’s not be waivered into thinking that tonight is all or nothing for Obama, he has won 11 elections and has more delegates. So, if he looses one or all he’s still in the lead, and lets not forget that April 4, is another election, so he still has a chance. Also, if she wins tonight, Hillary won’t win by that much.

And if Obama does not make it, atleast he has demonstrated to the world, that a black man can be success without a ball or mic in his hand. Michelle Obama, has become an example of a beautiful successful, supportative wife , where now little black girls can have an example of being more than what we see on television, and hear on the radio. Even if you are not voting for Obama, atleast acknowledge the fact that they are giving black kids hope of being more.

  • Hagarella

Michelle is looking like a bridesmaid in need of a lil bit of Botox. WTF is that on her arm? A matching scrunchie? A fabric tiara of some sort?

  • Hagarella

    @ Reggie08:

Thank you for speaking some truth. Lots of dems can’t stand Hillary and refuse to vote 4 her.

Obama’s wins have little to do with his message or his policies (or lack thereof).

Let Obama stand against McCain. We will see the white vote come out in droves for McCain. It’s not like we’ve never seen the GOP steal an election before.

  • Ghost

Even if you are not voting for Obama, atleast acknowledge the fact that they are giving black kids hope of being more.

    ——————————————–

It will take more than Obama to give black kids hope. You have to deal with parents that are doing everything in their power to make life miserable for their kids.

And unless these kids see Obama beat the hell out of Soulja Boy or 50 Cent, most don’t even care who he is.

    MSNBC has Obama winning Vermont.

KDubb, the link in my name now includes an NPR story on calculating Hillary’s 35 years of experience. Basically, the link is about author Suzanne Goldenberg trying to figure out how working at a corporate law firm — the Rose Law Firm, where she became it’s first female partner, and also the center of scandal during the Clinton years — fulltime is related to public service work.

    —————————————-

“Goldenberg talks to Michele Norris about Clinton’s legal work representing corporate clients such as Wal-Mart and Tyson Foods, and her experience working for the Children’s Defense Fund and on Capitol Hill building the case against Richard Nixon.

She also describes how after the failure of her foray into the health care reform debate during her husband’s presidency, she temporarily retreated from an active role in policymaking and assumed more traditional responsibilities.”

    ———————————-

How nice. Walmart and Tyson, both companies which have been at the center of legal firestorms for mistreating their employees on the one hand, and firing citizens to hire illegals then mistreating the illegals on the other hand. She didn’t represent people, she represented the companies.

But my personal recollection of Hillary’s political ties go all the way back to being a Goldwater Girl Republican during the Civil Rights era when Goldwater was anti-Civil Rights (which surprises me because many of the Republicans were on board with Civil Rights when most Democrats were not). She still can’t get her ‘the night I saw Martin Luther King’ story straight.

I was going to list her Black Panther participation as a positive to balance out the negatives, but I doublechecked at Scopes just to be sure… and they say what really went down is that she wasn’t in any way shape or form connected with their legal counsel, just a law student who nonetheless wanted to make sure justice was done by organizing other law students to help the ACLU monitor the case for civil rights violations. So that’s a net good for me, and I wish the emails going out trying to paint her as bad for it would a) get their facts straight and b) stop associating classic Black Panthers with the Decline and Fall of America.

@1truediva, i heard about that. that’s disgusting. but that happens all the time. those nursing homes are sick, but what can you do when you can’t take care of family 24 hours, yourself? that was one of the positives about people have large families with a zillion babies (and daddy at home) — the older people didn’t have to be shipped away.

there needs to be a lot more training and it needs to pay more. much more. they’re paying many of these people minimum wage to do backbreaking work (physically and emotionally) — but how to ensure that those who caretake our elderly are getting that training and are getting paid as much as their work is really worth?

that poor woman should not have had to freeze to death all alone.

I can’t lie, I can understand a woman taking her child with her to work if no one is going to be there to tell her she can’t and make her not, particularly if she doesn’t have child care and can’t afford it herself. Not saying it’s right, but saying I can understand it…. but doing so means that you have to be extra vigilant. No child should be raping a client, or even close to a position where they could rape a client. How the hell does that happen? That’s horrible, for everybody involved.

  • http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/03/caucus_problems_in_texas.php Nita is Puzzled

From the “Clintons accusing others of what they planned to do” Dept. (aka: STFU Hillary, many of us have already read your orders to your campaign workers; story courtesy of Marc Ambinder’s blog at the Atlantic website):

    Caucus Problems In Texas

    04 Mar 2008 08:28 pm

The Clinton campaign said tonight that Obama precinct workers illegally obtained caucus packets in the following Texas caucus precincts:

    Precinct 2316 in Tarrant County

    Precinct 1205 in Dallas County

    Precinct 3127 in Bexar County

Precinct 3082 in Ft. Bend County

Precinct 18/224 in Harris County (Houston)

    Precinct 3221 Dallas county

Precinct 87 in El Paso County

    Precinct 458 in Travis County

Basically, whoever “gets the packet” controls the caucus. Technically, before the caucus begins at 7:15 CT, the packet is controlled by the precinct judge. But in reality, it might just be laying on a table somewhere. The Clinton campaign claims to have evidence that Obama supporters have, in eight instances, obtained in far in advance, which violates the rules set out by the state party.

There’s nothing the state party can or will do. They’re overwhelmed at the moment.

“I think it’s fair to say that we are going to make sure that our folks know that they can object to the decisions of the chair. We’re going to make sure that we raise our objections,” says Guy Cecil, Clinton’s national political director.

Cecil stopped short of saying that the campaign intends to challenge the results in any way…. the Clinton campaign knows it will be seen as obstructionist if it utters the word “lawsuits”

Objectively, the process seems very messy and the state party seems in over its head.

One last thing and I’m a quit for a while, regarding what’s going down in Ohio (link in the handle, so any mathematicians here can visit the author and give their own take on the numbers. i’m not a statistician or even close to one so i don’t know; that last factoid the author gives is disturbing, though. And these people are ‘democrats’):

Ohio Exit Polls, Why Isn’t Barack Obama winning here?

    by RyuX

Tue Mar 04, 2008 at 05:46:22 PM PST

Quick and to the point, I’d love for people’s comments on this – what I think – is a little odd about Ohio. I live in Cleveland, went to the polls with my family. We saw no one voting for Clinton. We saw no signs for Clinton. Our neighborhood is 60/40 White working class. But let’s get to the point. MSNBC released some interesting exit polls, which would lead me to think Obama would win..

Of all democratic ballots cast in the primary,

    68% Registered Democrats

    22% Independents

    10% Republican

Now, that somewhat stunned me. One out of three voters were not democrats! Obama traditionally wins this group 2:1. With that said, of the 68% Registered Democrats, 20% are African-American, a group Obama wins 9:1. That leaves roughly 50% of all democratic ballots cast to Whites. Exit polls show Clinton won Whites 60/40. Even if we give her 2/3 of all White democrats and give Obama 90% of Black democrats, Obama would win by 7-9 pts. Now, if Republicans and Independents voted more for Clinton, then okay – this won’t hold up. But I doubt that’d happen. So, I’m a little concerned with the numbers coming in because they don’t fit trends and I wonder what is the driving force behind that. The economy is bad here, but everyone I’ve spoken to blames Clinton/NAFTA not Obama.

    p.s.

I just say something VERY disturbing on MSNBC while writing this. They released another exit poll that skews what I was just saying for Clinton.

When asked if race mattered to voters, 1/5 (20%) said yes.

Of those 1/5 (20% !!), 80% of them voted for Clinton!

WTF is going on here in Ohio? Is it time to move back to Florida?

    Your comments please..

(I lied, here’s something else about Ohio. Mark Warner is God is blogging something a little different RyuX’s claims of MSNBC exit poll numbers. We’ll see what else happens and how the numbers change as the night wears on. Link in the handle, and before the night is done and morning is over, I want to find a positive story about all this. And no, I don’t know how Hillary’s numbers came out to 107%, and Obama’s came out to 93%.)

    Sad statistic from Ohio

    by Mark Warner is God

Tue Mar 04, 2008 at 05:12:59 PM PST

In deciding your vote for president today, was the race of the candidate (Ohio only – exit polls from CNN.com):

In deciding your vote for president today, was the race of the candidate:

    Important (20% of total vote)

    Hillary: 57%

    Obama: 43%

Not important (79% of total vote)

    Hillary: 50%

    Obama: 50%

This stat makes it clear: Hillary is benefiting from support from racists.

This is not an indictment on Hillary Clinton. While she did try to make Obama the radical black candidate by attempting to tie him to Jesse Jackson, she doesn’t have a racist bone in her body.

But it’s a sad statement about voters in Ohio. It also points to the fact that Hillary wouldn’t have won without the support of racists.

Again – I’m not sure that’s an indictment on her, since she hasn’t really used racebaiting tactics (other than pushing a meme about Obama’s potential drug dealing, attempting to connect him to Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakan, attempting to marginalize his wins in states where more than 15% of the voters were black, and refusing to positively say that he wasn’t a secret muslim.

Again – it’s not neccessarily Hillary’s fault. America has a ways to go on racial relations, and there are some racist Democrats out there (evidently).

PS: I’m not gloomy! I think it’ll be fine in Texas! Just addressing some numbers that jumped out at me. And yes, I understand that many black people voted for the black candidate because he was black. I but I dare say that DID NOT do this because they hate white people…

    ———————————————

(Nita back. In trying to find out what the true numbers were for that weird ass stat, and why two people would give different numbers, saw this at the CNN site:

    RI 2% reporting:

    Clinton 52%

    Obama 47%

    TX (P) 2% reporting:

    Obama 54%

    Clinton 45%

    OH 2% reporting:

    Clinton 58%

    Obama 40%

    VT 41% reporting:

    Obama 59%

    Clinton 39%

And for the Republicans who post here:

    RI 1% reporting:

    McCain 63%

    Huckabee 23%

    TX (P) 2% reporting:

    McCain 56%

    Huckabee 32%

    OH 2% reporting:

    McCain 60%

    Huckabee 30%

    VT 41% reporting:

    McCain 72%

    Huckabee 15%

(Nita back, I don’t know what Huckabee is going to do at this point… and what happens to all the other primaries/caucuses — take my state, New Mexico, the Republicans here don’t hold a primary until frigging JUNE. what’s the point? it doesn’t matter if most everyone’s name is still on the ballot.. hell I heard Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson were still on the ballot in Texas and they dropped out a long time ago.. the choice has still already been made. I like Huckabee. But what should he do at this point?)

(and I can’t find the race stats. Anybody else got em?)

Super Tuesday has become Terrible Tuesday in Texas!

A travesty is happening at the polls in Texas. People are being told at the democratic caucus that if they leave after signing in for their candidate that their vote will NOT be counted. Meaning that the democratic candidate will lose out and that voter’s voice will not be heard. Further lowering the morale of the people who vote.

  • Bohwe

I have to agree with you that Obama isn’t ready for the mess in washington. Only because he seems to be a real guy, connected to the people and the cause, also he just impress me as a man that sincerely loves his family, and has morals and ethics. And integrity, you know his life story, decided to worked among the poor as a civil rights attorney, worked on the southside of Chicago. and when you look at his overall income he doesn’t have half as much as the other politicians. That is why I love him, because he seems more about everyday people than the who whos. Look at the way he interacts with people, he seem really down to earth and humble. So, I would hate for him as a person to become corrupted by all that negativity. So, if Clinton wins the nomination, it’s nothing to be upset about, Obama supporters, just realize that he’s too much of a good guy. And no matter what, he will go down in History for coming this far. But, I’ll support him, and ryde for him as long as he stays in the race.

Here are the results according to boston.com so far Obama has 1397 delegates, Clinton has 1276 delegates. With 2095 delegates to win. Plus there is a election tomorrow. And next month.

If Obama is meant to get the nomination he will get the nomination.

  • TnTpol

    @PHILLY & VicKaLiCiouS

First, I’ll say I don’t live on a border town (I’m from NYC) so I don’t know what it’s like to in a place with a rapidly growing population of Mexicans.

But I will say, I’m getting uncomfortable with the generalizations about Mexicans. It’s starting to to sound awfully racial and that’s disturbing to me. Especially considering what Blacks people have endured in this country from whites, and later every other group.

The immigration issue a complex one. I wish we could open a dialog about it without tying to race. No one ever complains about white illegal immigrants (So many people come on student visas and stay or cross from Canada. In fact, I’d say a quarter of famous actors are from Canada yet easily come here to work and buy homes in LA).

It’s only a problem when the immigrants are brown. The Chinese Exclusion Act, passed in 1882 banned immigrants from China. It wasn’t repealed until 1943! Routinely refugees from Haiti are still turned away today. And now Mexicans have emerged as the latest problem group.

I do think immigrant needs to be reformed and I do not agree with amnesty for all. Rabid illegal immigrant does drain resources from citizens. BUT, whenever a white people says, “Damn Mexican illegals” and I can hear the hate in his voice it makes me nervous.

It’s like that poem “First they came…” It ends with the line, When they came for me,

there was no one left to speak out.

We should never sleep on racist sentiment. As people of color, that spotlight can be reflected back on us at any time. It’s tempting, especially if the targeted group has been racist towards us, but BECAUSE we so intimately know racism and oppression we should rise above and as Sineád O’Connor so passionately declared, “FIGHT THE REAL ENEMY!” — which is the oppressive system that benefits from pitting us against each other.

I don’t think she’s done much of any except for corporations with all the earmarks she added on to bills.

If you believe her claim of 35 years of experience, I guess that includes the Clinton years. The number of blacks going to jail increased significantly, the reform of Welfare cut funds for a large number of inner city black children and families, and then there was NAFTA that affected EVERYONE including Blacks (especially hard times in places like Detroit and Flint, Michigan).

Can’t see much positive achievement for Black folk during her entire “experience”…

  • minty fresh

    @Hope

can you be more specific about the race baiting?

  • htown reppa

    @ don’t worry

I apologize I read earlier post and I see now.

  • Hope

minty fresh, with all due respect have you even been paying attention to the primaries? The Clinton’s have been painting Obama as “the black candidate”. The Clintons have been trying to polarize the white vote for some time now!

  • minty fresh

    @TnTpol (is that a star trek character,btw?)

What about the Kinship Caregive support act, which gives grandparents or relatives who are raising their kin tax breaks for doing so? Grandparents raising grandkids is all too common in the black community

Hillary has supported bills that funded head start.

She was instrumental in making the emergency contraceptive Plan B legal

And yeah, her first stab at health care failed, but whe also help create SCHIP, that program that pays for uninsured children (many of which are black), and for all those who wanna say thatshe wasn’t doing anything while Bill was President, Hillary got SCHIP passed when she was first lady.

    Hillary’s spent

  • Hope

How about when Clinton said at a rally in Columbia. “Jackson ran a good campaign. And Obama ran a good campaign here.” WTF! would he bring up Jesse Jackson? That’s race baiting at it’s best honey!

  • minty fresh

I guess I got cut off, weird, I’ll finish that comment to you Tpol in a second

    @hope

are you talking about that Jessie Jackson/South Carolina remark? The media blew that way out of proportion. The Obama camp race baits too. There was an article in this webzine, the Root, where Melissa Harris Lacewell (a Princeton Professor and associate of the Obama’s)called Hillary a Scarllet O’Hara and black women who support her as mammies. Michelle Obama has said some snide comments too about “If you can’t run your own house, then you can’t run the white house” and using sexist language saying that she wouldn’t vote for Hillary if her husband lost because she didn’t like Hillary’s tone. It works both ways.

  • TnTpol

    @ HOLLYWOOD BS

Has it ever occurred to you that Obama has run his campaign the way he has (grassroots, from the bottom up support) because he was not the establishment candidate?

Has it ever crossed your mind how impressive it is that the outside candidate has managed to wage a campaign that rivals and in some ways surpasses the campaign of his opponent?

It is much harder to reach the top when you are starting from scratch.

But Barack is here. And he has gone pretty far. The enthusiasm that we, the people, can take back control of the political system is something to smile about.

Now there’s plenty of people who want things to continue to as they are. And right now, you’re one of them.

It takes the optimism of millions to come from the outside and compete with people who are part of system and have a machine behind him.

You so derisively dismiss him as a “rock star” and scorn his popularity but the reality is he’s closer than Clinton to sealing the deal.

  • minty fresh

    @Hope

Oh gimme a break! Jesse Jackson did win South Carolina when he ran for President, did he not? Obama was the first black man since Jesse to win that state, right? So the remark was not without context. When a white person points that out, it’s race baiting? I think the bruhaha over that is similar to the HRC MLK dust up.

  • minty fresh

    Oh, yeah

    @Tpol

as I was saying. Hillary’s spent the majority of her life being an advocate for children and families. If you don’t like her fine, but she doesn’t deserve to be villified.

  • TnTpol

Ugh. Typos. Billary is the one with the machine.

    @ minty fresh

Yep, from Star Trek Enterprise. First “T” is for Trip.

Anyway, those are good bills that benefit all. In the case of SCHIP, I think the net gain would be reduced by the number of kids who lost their Medicaid insurance due to Welfare “Reform”.

They still don’t prove Clinton is done more than Obama. Consider this:

Clinton has passed 20 bills during her first 6 years in the Senate. They are:

    1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.

    2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.

    3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

    4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.

    5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson.

    6. Name post office after Jonn A. O’Shea.

    7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.

    8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.

    9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.

    10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men’s Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.

    11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men’s Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.

    12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.

    13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.

    14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.

    15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty. Only five of Clinton’s bills are, more substantive. 16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.

    17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11

    18. Assist landmine victims in other countries.

    19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.

    20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.

Now, I would post those of Obama’s, but the list is too substantive, so I’ll mainly categorize.

During the first (8) eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced

    233 regarding healthcare reform,

125 on poverty and public assistance,

    112 crime fighting bills,

    97 economic bills,

60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,

    21 ethics reform bills,

    15 gun control,

6 veterans affairs and many others.

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These inculded

**the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law),

**The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, (became law),

**The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,

**The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, (became law),

**The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, (In committee), and many more.

In all since enter the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096. An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to the spin meisters.

Hillary would really be making it rain if she was winning by big margins. The delegates will be split damn near down the middle. So I’m sorry for you, she’s not making it rain on any hoe’s yet. Maybe a lil cloud in the sky, but no rain. Obama is still winning the race overall.

Hillary won all the big states that matter. Obama has won smaller states and mostly red states which will go to a Republican in the general election anyway! Also, if this gets taken to the convention, she still has more super delegates than him. Oh and Vickaliscious, she beat him by over 200,000 in Ohio.

  • TnTpol

    @ minty fresh

I don’t think Hillary is an evil person. Just an opportunistic one. I feel like most of what she’s done is because it benefits her politically. Not because she really “cares” and wants to better the world.

Being a politician here and most places in the world has plenty of narcissistic undertones. People who want power for the sake of power. And they make promises to the people because it keeps them in power, which strokes the ego and lines their pockets. That’s the ugly side of politics that turns most people off. It’s the backroom deals and feeling that the system is not set up to help people that turned me off for many years.

With Barack, I can see his narcissistic tenancies. But I view him more of visionary type. He has ideas about how to prove and gravitate towards leadership roles to achieve them. In many ways, he’s still the way many who start in Politics are — optimistic and eager to make a difference. Before the corruption sets in to cause permanent damage.

I could be wrong, but with Hillary I definitely know what we’d be electing — another politician with the Washington mindset.

With Barack, we have the chance for something different. Someone who will listen to the people and strive to make things better.

One more addition on opportunistic politicians. When Hillary ignored her lost in SC I saw a side to her that I didn’t like. If you don’t help her win, then you don’t matter. A person like that will turn on you once they don’t need you. I can’t trust a person like that.

  • dont worry

@ minty fresh u r the one who just couldnt take some constructive criticism so in that matter my hypothosis for you is that that in itself was somewhat childish dont u think?

  • Yuki

Obama is nothing, but a motivational speaker. He is a joke. White people only vote for him because they are brainwashed by that monster Oprah and Black people only vote for him because of the color of his skin. He is nothing but a bumper sticker slogan. Sadly, most Americans are pretty dumb and bored with reality television. They do not realize they are voting for the President of the United States. They act like they are texting to vote for Dancing With the Stars or the next American Idol. They like Obama because he is a celebrity.

What about the Kinship Caregive support act, which gives grandparents or relatives who are raising their kin tax breaks for doing so? Grandparents raising grandkids is all too common in the black community

    ———————–

I’ll be honest, I’ve never heard of it.

What I AM aware of is people ‘trading’ out social security numbers so that folks can claim kids on their tax returns. Anecdote follows: I know of a young woman who was never married to the father of her children, but she and the man’s mother had an arrangement where the grandmother would claim one of the children sometimes if she needed to get more money off of her tax return.

But a kinship caregive credit? Maybe lots of folks here have. Does H&R block and the other rapid refund places explain that credit to those who come in? (This young woman usually has her taxes prepared at those places.)

How many people have taken advantage of it? or know someone who has? what paperwork is necessary to take advantage of it?

  • minty fresh

“In the case of SCHIP, I think the net gain would be reduced by the number of kids who lost their Medicaid insurance due to Welfare “Reform”.”

    @Tpol

    Prove it.

Oh and cut, paste, rinse, repeat. I could just as easily digg up all of the votes that Obama voted “present” for in the Illinois state house. The laws you listed that he actually passed don’t really affect the lives of black people much. That laundry list also doesn’t negate the ecconomic gains of blacks during the Bill’s reign. In 1978 (before Bill became Gov. of Arkansas)Jimmy Carter appointed Hillary head of Legal Services corp., the organization that dispenses legal aid to those who can’t afford it. What was Obama doing in 1978? Who knows. he was like, 16. She also passed the Adoption and safe families act when first lady too. She ran a clinic in Arkansas taking foster care cases. Many of her clients were black. She’s done more for black people than he has.

  • TnTpol

    @ Yuki

Those small state will “matter” in the general due to the Electoral College. You can’t win the presidency based on CA and NY. If that was case Dems would win everytime!

And yes, Obama could pull plenty of those states in the general because a large number republicans and independents favor him over McCain!

Now with Hillary, they will certainly go red and McCain will slide comfortably into the White House.

“Despite longstanding efforts to reduce the number of uninsured people in the United

States, between 1995 and 1996 the number of children and parents who had health insurance

through the Medicaid program fell by about 700,000″

Found that in a google search. I’ll put the link a seperate comment because it will have to be approved by moderation.

Surely you can be serious about the 1978 comment? Obama was 16?! Clinton is about 15 years older than him. I’m gonna dismiss that one as grasping for straws.

Well, Clinton wasn’t around for the vote on FISA. You know, the recent vote that gave immunity to Telecommunication Companies on helping the Bush Administration spy on American citizens? Both Obama and McCain flew back to Washington to vote on it.

Bottom line, whether it’s copy + pasted its still oppressive that Barack has written, passed, and co-sponsored so many bills in such a short time.

  • Yuki

Ummm, every President has extramarital affairs. Bill Clinton just got caught because Monica Lewinsky was a dumb young girl who went and bragged to a big mouthed old lady named Linda Trip. What has Bill Clinton done for black people? Two words, Affirmative Action, which gives a Black person a job even if a more qualified White person deserves it. What did Bill Clinton do in Harlem before he left office in 2000? Do more research. By the way, I bet Bill Clinton has banged more women (Black and White) with his white dick than Obama will in his lifetime. Interns are easy access. Also, he was born in 1946. Monica was born in like 1975! I bet anybody on here would not be able to pull a girl that much younger than them if their life depended on it. Keep hating. Bill Clinton created twenty-one million new jobs as President. I am a Republican and I admire that. Bush has only created five million. If Obama were to get elected, I doubt he could create one million.

How does he have more Legislative experience when he votes ‘present’? Have fun supporting a guy who has barely been a Senator for three years. @Yuki wrote, “It does not matter how much Bill Clinton did for the Black community especially in Harlem or that Hillary Clinton was on the Black Panthers legal defense team back in the day.”

    1) What did Bill Clinton do for Harlem? I thought the reasons why he had his office in Harlem instead of where he really wanted to be and ORIGINALLY was planning to be… were well known. Harlem (like the black vote, so many assume) was cheap. Cheaper.

Besides, here’s a blast from the past over at Huffington Post:

Harlem Office “Appears To Have Backfired”…

    The Independent

    Nicholas Wapshott

    July 23, 2006 11:25 AM

“Bill Clinton’s decision to site his office in the largely black Manhattan neighbourhood of Harlem, as a gesture of solidarity with African-Americans, appears to have backfired.

Dozens of angry blacks demonstrated last week outside the building that houses the former president’s staff, claiming that his move had led to the gentrification of the area and increased the price of homes beyond their reach.”

Nita back. Here’s more, courtesy of Rocky Mountain News:

    —————–

Harlem not Clinton’s first choice for office

    Barbara Haddad Ryan, Denver

    Monday, March 3, 2008

The Rocky Mountain News carried an interesting article on Feb. 2 about Bill Clinton’s relationship with Harlem (“Uneasy neighbors”).

However, we need to correct the record on the following: “When the former president was looking for a foundation office, he chose a nondescript office building here on 125th Street, across from a soul food joint and not far from the fabled Apollo Theater. It symbolized the Clintons’ longtime connection to the greater black community – its causes, its leaders, its everyday people. And yes, its dreams, too.”

This rings a bit hollow when one recalls that Clinton’s first choice for the location of his office was a high-rise in midtown Manhattan. He had his eye on a super-expensive suite in the most super-expensive location in the country.

Since it’s the taxpayers who pay for post-presidential digs, there was an immediate uproar over Clinton’s extravagant taste. Only then did he have second thoughts, which led him to make the politically smart gesture of putting his office in Harlem.”

    —————–

Looking up information on Google, his original choice of digs were going to set taxpayers back (because he sure wasn’t going to dig into his own pockets, eh?) $800,000 — but the harlem office only cost $354,000.

How’s that for some black love. Except it ain’t.

Bill Clinton didn’t buy a house in Harlem. He does not live in Harlem. It was all about publicity.

Obama, meanwhile, lived on the Southside of Chicago. Obama has organized on the Southside. Obama goes to church on the Southside. Michelle is a native of the Southside of Chicago. They are not carpetbaggers. They are not gentrifiers for the Southside. Obama gets his haircut on the Southside.

    2) As I explained several posts above, in spite of what that email smear says about Hillary Clinton being a member of the Black Panthers’ legal defense team during Bobby Seale’s trial — she was just a law student at Yale (and a middling one at that), who, nonetheless, organized her fellow students to work with the American Civil Liberties Union to ensure that the Panthers civil rights were not violated during the trial. She had not earned her law degree at that time, and had nothing further to do with their legal counsel. Again, look it up on snopes.

There seems to be some strong views on illegal immigration amongst some Sen.Obama & HC supporters. I think you guys are supporting the wrong people… Romney seems more your taste.

  • Yuki

I feel the same way about illegal immigration. It is messed up that taxpayers are spending 338 billion a year to keep these people here and I I hate that they do not want to learn English and that most employers cater to people who speak Spanish. I have the same problem here sometimes getting a job. I am bilingual (English and Italian- which does not do me any good because there are not too many Italian speaking people around), but I do not speak Spanish (although I understand it pretty good), so they do not want me. Also, they sometimes look for Polish speaking people here in Chicago too. So, not only do I have Mexicans, but Easter Europeans that do not want to speak English too where I live. English really needs to become the ‘official’ language. Having stuff in Spanish is also not fair to other immigrants who do not have the courtesy to have stuff in their language, but instead have to learn how to speak English. Spanish is everywhere even when you call up the telephone company. It is sick. I think they should build a wall or a fence and tighten security, but an electronic one would be a bad idea because it would harm the wild life and children whose parents are crossing illegally could get hurt.

  • Yuki

However, it is unfair to just talk about them like they are trash. Illegal or not, they are still humans and children of God.

  • VicKaLiCiouS

    @Yuki

If the parents knew the fence was electric maybe they would stop trying to cross.

oh please, you couldn’t have said it better. Black people are voting for Obama because he’s black. Period. As I said before, it’s good to know that people are taking a step back and really looking at what’s behind this “hope and change” fairytale message…which is nothing. Hope is not a strategy. And as people bash Mexicans on this site for carrying Clinton through in Texas, it is no different than black people carrying Obama through in any of the states he’s won. It’s called hypocrasy.

  • tj

    Jose

Is it “hypocrasy”? “Hypocrasy” you say!

Well someone calling other people ignorant when they can’t spell is the only hypocrisy i see on this board.

As for the mexican vote. I think black people should be angry. Obama is stronger on their issues than Hillary. Mexicans didn’t vote for Barack because he is black. But whatever it’s not going to work. Hillary’s “momentum” will be over Saturday when Wyoming votes and it will be back to Barack on Tuesday when he wins Mississippi by a landslide.

You are a stereotypical chittlin eating slave for insinuating black voters are uninformed supporters of Barack. College educated voters prefer Barack 65%-35% Hillary’s argument that Barack has no policy is a lie considering he has his policies right up on his website. The painting of Barack as an empty candidate is ploy to play upon the assumption of inferior African American intellect and it only works with poor, uneducated, uninformed idiots like yourself. It’s even worst in your case because you’re black.

Stay in school kids! Stay in school.

BTW I don’t see anyone calling the large group of college students who vote for barack overwhelmingly ignorant or uninformed. I don’t see people telling white women they are only voting for Hillary because she is a white woman (which is true in many cases)

  • tj

Also these are Hillary plants because the numbers don’t lie. Blacks prefer Obama 90-10 so I can’t take 4 out of 10 of the posts in this thread being pro-Hillary very seriously. More shady tactics. (sigh)

    @tj

I thought the Obama campaign was so positive and subtle, more “feminized” than Hillary’s. Isn’t that what everyone’s saying? Now you wanna use strong arm tactics to twist arms to get super delegates to vote your way, even though they’re supposed to be independent? Now, that’s not very nice. And as for Tubbs, do you propose going up to Mass. and telling Teddy Kennedy and John Kerry to endorse Obama, because you know, Hillary won Massachusetts by a landslide? No one seems to be up in arms about their pledged support for Obama, even though the popular vote their favors Hillary.

Do you call every person who doesn’t think Obama is the greatest thing since sliced a “Plant”? That sounds pretty desperate to me.

I’m black and college educated. I don’t prefer Obama. I’ve given several reasons why.

And saying that the black electorate is subscribing to identity politics is not false, and you know that. Even if you look at this board, there are only a select few that actually debate the issues. The rest are just saying dumb nonsense, “kill mexicans” “we can’t let this evil woman win”. Very few actually give detailed reasons why they support Obama. Most of the liberal blogs like HuffPo and Daily Kos, where the debate is going on, are being blogged on by majority non-blacks, and it isn’t because fewer of us have computers.

Hill and Bill have done lots for black people actually. So what you’re trying to assert is just flat out wrong. When Hillary answers that call at 3 am to protect the american people the response will be to send your love ones to war again…. that should scare you.

To Texas…all of your immigrants can start packing if (bonnie and Clyde) Hillary becomes a nominee. Ohio and Rhode Island should get just what they voted for… more money out the pocket with a revised healthplan that flopped back in ’93 and recreated itself as mandatory.

The middle east(they won’t even talk to Condi) should be laughing until they choke at the possibility of a Woman that cries and whines at the drop of hat ,or because she didn’t get a pillow at a debate, to be elected by the “amercian people” men, and women to run the country… what a joke!!!! she’ll support the people alright the wealthy ones.. she just need the poor and middle class votes to make that happen.

If Hillary makes nominee i say the Obama voters should vote Independent just for the hell of it …and let her super delegates fix that. If the super delegates don’t vote according to the people I’d rethink electing them also.

  • JaliliMaster

I actually support Obama. That said, I want all the sistas on this board to read the following post I saw somewhere and try to reflect on it. It makes a whole lot of sense:

I did it! I don’t get my results until May, but just finishing the NY Bar Exam itself feels like a huge load off of my shoulders. I returned to a ton of work at the office, but at least I have a bit of breathing room, and a bit of time to devote to the blog!

In any case, like most Americans, much of my non-Bar related attention has been focused recently on the presidential race, and more specifically, on the Democratic primaries. I should state from the outset that I don’t consider myself a Democrat or a fan of either Senator Clinton or Senator Obama; but the contest between them has fascinated me for a reason I’m sure many of you could guess (though, of course, it has been rarely addressed in the mainstream media): the echoes of earlier conflicts between black men and white women, and the complete invisibility of black women as a part of the political discourse on the issue.

As we know, much of the white suffragist leadership after the Civil War actively opposed the grant of the vote to the black freedmen under the 15th Amendment to the Constitution in crudely racist terms, appealing to white men’s sense of race loyalty and white supremacy in an effort to win the vote for themselves instead of the recently freed black man. As Susan B. Anthony wrote about the issue:

While the dominant party have with one hand lifted up TWO MILLION BLACK MEN and crowned them with the honor and dignity of citizenship with the other they have

dethroned FIFTEEN MILLION WHITE WOMEN – their own mothers and sisters, their own wives and daughters – and cast them under the heel of the lowest orders of

    manhood.

Elizabeth Cady Stanton warned white men that giving black men the vote instead of “their own mothers and sisters, wives and daughters,” would “culminate in fearful outrages on [white] womanhood, especially in the southern states.”

Though both Anthony and Stanton had been ardent abolitionists, their opposition to slavery had less to do with a belief in the equality of the races than in the idea that the inhumanity of slavery was not only cruel to blacks, but debasing to otherwise superior whites (just as many “liberal” whites today support affirmative action only to the degree which it provides “diverse” experiences for white students and workers–the primary wrong redressed must always be the threat imposed to the interests of whites). While they did not believe blacks should be slaves, though also did not believe that blacks should have the same rights and social status as whites–which is why, unlike black feminists like Frances Ellen Harper, they did not advocate suffrage for all (including all male and female citizens), but rather, suffrage for white women instead of black men.

    @pct 638 Houston TX

She is a GOP like dem, that has proven she will sacrifice her own integrity to win. Her dirty tactics are completely selfish and are destroying the democrats chances to beat Mc Cain. At this point Mc Cain looks clean as a whistle compared to Hillary.

Mc Cain would eat her alive. Barack is the only one who could beat McCain. For further evidence look at how the media rallied yesterday to swindle the Texas Primary. The media has always proven to be GOP pushers. Well they are endorsing Hillary to keep the democrats fighting and to allow Hillary to create so much Obama fear and tarnish her name so badly that McCain will have a cake walk to the the White house.

All that REZCO non sense on the day of the primary. Barack has gathered 10′s of Millions of dollars from candidates and the most scandalous thing you can come up with is 10,000 taken from REZCO and given to charity once the source was identified. This man looks more of a saint than ever.

Well white water was quite real, further proof of Hillary’s immorality. Some people want to win so badly that there willing to destroy the country to do so. Unethical in the race will lead to unethical in the white house. Already she cheated in Michigan, used race as a means of fear, used Barack’s last name in the same way, brought in pictures used to sway the idiot swing voters. What competitive advantage does Hillary offer anyone.

I was a fan of Bill but this woman is not at all Bill. She is showing her republican roots. The fact that Barack is biracial and has the most diverse following of any candidate, shows her black candidate rhetoric is designed to convey an overall racist perspective. She is more accurately the women’s candidate. Yet black people vote for her. Hispanics will see also if she is playing on the fact his last name is O’bama what would she do if his last name is Gomez. Shes painting the picture that foreign names can’t be American yet you vote for her.

Any one who buys into this style of mudslinging in my eyes is a racist and deserves to have Mc Cain as a president. The nation is being destroyed by unethical activity, Weapons of MD, Iraq, Big Oil, stolen Elections, Katrina, etc. yet we would look to vote for someone who proves to be just as unethical in campaigning.

In the end it doesn’t matter Barack is very much in the lead. Hillary just got a life line. She has so much money invested she has to do anything to win. What will happen is to have a fighting chance the dems will organize the remaining super delegates in Barack’s favor. At this point Hillary is a mud wrestling liability that no longer has any appeal to supporters of change.

Barack will be president and those that didn’t vote for him will realize how they almost caused another Bush Jr like mistake.

    Barack 2008!!!

Today, Gloria Steinam complains of a similar perceived relative advantaging of black men at the expense of white women as reflected in the Clinton vs. Obama race, asserting in a recent New York Times op-ed:

Black men were given the vote a half-century before women of any race were

allowed to mark a ballot, and generally have ascended to positions of power,

from the military to the boardroom, before any women (with the possible

exception of obedient family members in the latter).

minty fresh, I my whol epost did not come up, thats why u did not get the whole point of the jist.

Basically what I was saying is that both white women and black men are comfortable with black women being an invisible entity, until of course, they need our vote. The suffragist movement was all about giving white women the same standing as white men. the ‘racial’ civil rights movement was all about giving black men the same rights as white men. Not anywhere in these two ‘movements’ did black womens need take priority.

Even when black women wanted to get their own ‘womens rights’ along with the civil rights movement, they were told by the civil rights leaders (who were bm), that we should support them first, then when black people 9read black men), get racial equality, bm would help us get gender equality. No black woman in this board can tell me that it has happened. Still waiting ‘brothers’, still waiting!

The report delves deeply into economics, noting that black women are more likely than white or Hispanic women to be running a household and raising children on their own. According to Malveaux, black women hold more jobs nationwide than black men, yet — despite their breadwinner roles — earn less on average, $566 a week compared to $629 for black men.

  • JaliliMaster

On an upbeat note, former Labor Secretary Alexis Herman notes in her essay that black women are making huge strides as entrepreneurs. The number of businesses owned by them increased by 147% between 1997 and 2006, compared to an overall business growth rate of 24%, she wrote.

Well guess what: I am a black woman. I believe in equality for all, but I unapologetically advocate for the interests of myself and my sisters first and foremost: I don’t “owe” black men or white women my support. I want to see more black women in the professions, in higher education, in positions of political power and business influence. I am concerned about our physical and mental health, and about the special challenges we face as mothers. I am outraged by our exclusion from public visibility, from the political theater to the beauty industry. And nobody gets my support for free. Wherever you fall on the political spectrum sisters, make sure that your support comes with a price. We must properly value ourselves before we expect the same from others–even our supposed “natural allies.”

  • JaliliMaster

What the two groups share (black men & white women, as always, is their comfort with the invisibility of black women as anything other than as props or as silent, mulish support for their interests. We are not presumed to have interests of our own, separate and distinct from either group’s, and our proper role appears to be simply laboring silently on behalf of the “struggles” of whoever chooses to claim us when convenient. If either Hilary or Barack has considered crafting a special message to appeal to black women in order to win our votes, I have yet to hear it–both seem to assume that we “belong” to them, and are only roused from their black woman-induced slumber if it appears there is a revolt in the ranks–in which case they are properly outraged by our “betrayal.”

I’ve heard stories just this morning from friends about their horrible experiences with the caucus process. Well with my experience, the line for voters was suppose to be cut off at 7:00 pm, but at my location they continuously allowed people to get line. So voting was done around 8:45 pm, and we started the caucus at 9 pm. Our precinct judge was not even present. They didn’t have enough sign-in sheets, so they had to substitute with these other sheets. They had 2 tables for 200 people to sign-up at. Then when everyone finally signed in, they told us we had to stay for our vote to be counted when they read off all the names. If you left after you signed up, your vote did not count. Then as they called the names, they told us, whoever we were voting for go to separate sides of the rooms. Then we had to stick around through the process of this formula to determine delegates. This is when I finally left and it was 10:30 pm, and they still were not completely done. This was a horrible experience, that I and others should report. If these processes in different precincts were so unorganized, who’s to say that some people’s votes were unfairly not counted.

@ antiprocrastination wrote, “Don’t get discourage or led astray by the media and Clinton spin on what happened yesterday. He did win 12 straight contests. That doesn’t happen to loosers.”

You got that right. Still, perception is reality. Losers don’t do what Obama has done, at all. He should be at Huckabee numbers (and Huckabee was doing very well for the Republicans) — but he has completely exceeded expectations above and beyond what has ever been done before. This game has been Clintons to lose…. but she’s received help in spinning her disastrous, mismanaged campaign as an underdog campaign!

I’m not going to buy the spin, and haven’t. I firmly believe Obama knows what he’s doing. The fact that he hasn’t done the same thing to Clinton as the Clintons have done to him raises him in my esteem. He has class and dignity out the ass. The Clintons just are asses.

@Ella Vaughn wrote, “And she’s a lesbian now, why because she wears pants suits? Is bill her beard?”

    – The lesbian rumors are about Human Abedin, the half Indian, Half Pakistani lady who shadows Hillary like Scientologists shadow Katie Holmes.

If you see photos of Hillary, she’s in about 90% of them, she’s ALWAYS at Hillary’s side, but she’s not a bodyguard. She’s around Hillary more than Bill is. According to Wiki, she became an intern in 1996 and hasn’t left Hillary’s side since. It’s up to you whether the ‘lesbian’ charge is more damaging than the ‘Huma is a muslim with ties to the bin Laden family/Al Queda’ smear that also went around. Apparently, ‘lesbian’ is the more titillating rumor, but who knows.

At one point, there was a rumor around that Bill Clinton himself aided the ‘my wife is a lesbian’ rumors, but I can’t find more information on that. So I guess that gets a pass.

  • Kenny

    WOW!

@ oh well wrote, “Well, I thought Obama would have put the nails in Hillary’s casket too, but I guess she’s still in it. She really needed to win Texas and Ohio and she did.”

Actually (to misquote a certain philanderer), it depends on what the definition of ‘win’ is.

Hillary always needed to win by at least 65% in all remaining states after Super Tuesday to catch up to Obama’s delegate lead. As folks who know a lot more than me have stated, ‘winning’ the popular vote is for publicity purposes only. The real wins are in Delegates.

That’s why those in the know rolled their eyes when Hillary claimed to have won New Hampshire (where she and obama both got the same number of delegates) and then claimed to have won Nevada (where Obama actually beat her in the delegate count because even though she won large ass Las Vegas, he destroyed her in the rest of the state, so they awarded the extra delegate to him). The fact she claims the unseatable Michigan and Florida delegates just makes everybody except Hillary supporters shake their heads.

But Hillary is STILL BEHIND Obama in the delegate count. For all the drama of yesterday, she has a net gain of +2 to +10 (depending on whom you ask) on Obama. That’s not enough. The math is not there for Hillary, unless she manages to seat Michigan and Florida as-is (which would rend the Democratic Party) and takes super delegates with her.

So Hillary gets the spin this morning, but she hasn’t actually ‘won’. Still a lot more states in play.

Folks are talking about how strange it is that Puerto Rico and its delegates are going to matter this year.

  • obama sucks

    yes she can

  • OakCliffChick

@getitgood……We are individual people that back a candidate for some or all of what they represent. Meaning, just b/c Barack has sat back when he should’ve been lighting Hillary’s ass up on a lot what she does, does not mean we should sit back and be the way he’s being. With that same logic shouldn’t you be crying right now, or going through a manic-depressive episode b/c Obama is still leading with delegates and the popular vote?

  • http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2006/07/23/bill-clintons-harlem-off_n_25630.html Nita is Puzzled

    JaliliMaster,

it’s the gay of color conundrum, as well… saw it on full display during the McClurkin brouhaha. The nastiness continues.

and Hillary is still not getting my vote. all things being equal, Obama has held himself with dignity and has made sure that he has not really disparaged Hillary in any way. THAT matters to me in a candidate.

Hillary supporters took his ‘you’re likeable enough’ comment WAY out of proportion. Obama didn’t bow before Miss Daisy’s pedastal low enough to kiss her (and therefore their) pinky toes, therefore Obama is dead meat to them.

I believe it goes beyond ‘if Hillary were black’ — if hillary were a Republican or a third party candidate, all the people running their mouth about ‘finally a woman president’ would ignore her. I daresay even the women lots of progressives like to put out as being electable and ‘righter’ than Hillary wouldn’t enjoy the success of Hillary when it comes to playing the ‘finally a woman president’ card. Hillary was only in front because of name recognition, and she only had name recognition because of whom her husband was. Hillary gets to be a figurehead; Bill gets the assumption of doing the actual heavy lifting. Some feminism.

As for Obama and black leaders — Obama never had the black leaders on his side in the first place, so can’t go there, you know? Obama only started to get blacks on his side after the shock and awe that was Iowa. There was no support, and there would have been no support, if not for Iowa. Iowa gave permission. There’s still a struggle for support right now, as it is, in spite of the Clintonistas trying to portray blacks as having always voted racially for Obama from Day One, so write off the black vote until the General Election when blacks will vote for Hillary anyway (according to that Ickes character), so why bother courting them.

And as for black women and the Democrat party, black women need to be careful.

  • OakCliffChick

AS PPL KEEP SAYING OBAMA SUPPORTERS NEED TO CALM DOWN, HE HAS NOT LOST. YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT THE STATES LEFT IN PRIMARY, SHE HAS TO OVERWHELMINGLY WIN, IN ORDER TO WIN THE NOD. THAT IS NOT LIKELY TO HAPPEN. THE BEST SHE CAN DO IS STAY IN THIS RACE AND CONVINCE THE SUPER DELEGATES THAT SHE CAN TAKE THE PRESIDENCY IN NOVEMBER. BUT YOU ALSO HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT SHE HAD BIG LEAD WITH SUPER DELEGATES, AND SINCE THAT TIME HER SUPER DELEGATES HAVE DROPPED AND OBAMA’S HAVE INCREASED.

IF OBAMA’S VOTERS ARE REALLY IN THE FIGHT FOR HIM SUPPORT HIM ALL THE WAY. DON’T LEAVE WHEN IT LOOKS A LITTLE HARD. HAVE THAT HOPE THAT HE IS ALWAYS SPEAKING ABOUT, AND HE WILL BE THE PRESIDENT.

  • Kenny

I Dont trust the Shady Clinton’s, they are racist like the rest of them.

Just because it seems they are on the black side means nothing. I feel Obama represents change, hope, and life unlike Billary. Billary just wants to shake up the boys club but to me she is another boy. The Clinton’s have been mocking Obama supporters and even reppin McCain, and he wants us to stay in war.

    Obamanation!

  • truself

    NAACP sold out like usually.

Won’t even help a color personadvance witin this white american system!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Houston cutie

    BILLARY 2015!!!

  • pct 638 houston tx

WELL SINCE IM GONNA BE A DELEGATE REPRESENTING OBAMA AT MY COUNTY CONVENTION IM NOT POSTING ANYMORE AND TAKING MY ARGUMENT TO THE MAIN STAGE

  • Kenny

McCain will run this country into the ground with his war nonsense. I see the world respecting Obama more than Billary and McCain put together, this dude is real and I think he really wants change unlike the other two candidates. Why do people feel comfortable when whites are in charge?

  • oh well

    @Nita

Wow Nita, you’re really looking childish and despereate right now. You’ve reached a new low, and your credibility is suffering with it. Huma Abedin is Hillary’s closest campaign aid. I read her profile in Vogue. I thought you were one of the more level headed ones, but no, you’re just adding to the rumor mill. Let someone try to perpetuate false rumors about Barack being a Muslim and you’d jump down their throats, but it’s ok to spread false rumors about racism and lesbianism about your opponant. Tisk, tisk,Obama supporters are really mooning us today. Their true colors are coming out (whoops, was that racist?) Between the race baiting (implications of being coons, house negroes, sell-outs and every other name under the sun for blacks who don’t support Obama and Latino slurs), the rumor mongering (Hillary’s a lesbian), and the pettiness (Well she really didn’t win, yesterday), you’re not looking too saintly today.

  • oh well

If you read this thread, most of the nastiness isn’t coming from Hillary supporters or even McCain supporters. It’s coming from Obama supporters. Way to Go! You all should be so proud.

  • Diva08

I AM WATCHING THE CAFFERTY FILE RIGHT NOW ON CNN. AND EVERYBODY WRITING IN IS PISSED OFF THAT HILARY WON. PEOPLE KNOW HOW DANGEROUS IT IS TO HAVE TWO FAMILIES FIGHTING FOR POLITICAL CONTROL IN THE UNITED STATES( CLINTONS/BUSH). EVEN THOUGH CLINTON IS DECLARED THE WINNER IN THE PRIMARYS OBAMA WON THE CAUCUS. OBAMA ALSO WON THE MAJOR MTEROPOLITAN CITIES SO THAT IS WHY HE WON MORE DELEGATES IN TEXAS!!!! HOW CAN YOU CLINTON SUPPORTERS CALL THAT A VICTORY. AGAIN SHE ONLY WON BECAUSE THE RACIST HISPANICS WONT VOTE FOR A BLACK MAN. THE MAIN THING THAT CLINTON HAS AGAINST HER IS THAT AMERICANS BLACK OR WHITE DO NOT WANT THE POWER STRUGGLE FOR THE WHITE HOUS ETO CONTINUE BETWEEN THE BUSH AND CLINTON FAMILIES.

  • Hillary 08

Keep the change . . .and the hope too.

  • rosie

    @ Lala

Yes I was an Illinois resident too, and if you weren’t aware of Barack Obama in 2004, then you weren’t paying attention…this is especially true if you are from Chicago, since he challenged Bobby Rush for his House seat a few years ago.

    @ truself

I don’t think Hillary Clinton being female matters so much for developing countries since whoever the president is they will have to kiss his/her ass for money unless they have oil. Also, developing countries actually have a better track record for female leadership than rich countries (Nicaragua, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Philippines, etc.). Just as Gulf states have to deal with Angela Merkel (head of the world’s third largest economy) they would have to deal with Hillary Clinton.

That said, there are plenty of other reasons not to vote for Hillary Clinton. :)

  • oh well

    I agree Cara

“She only won because of the racist Hispanics . . .”

    @Diva

Why did she win so decisively in Ohio, then? Was that because of Hispanics too or was it racist whites. What about Asians? Hillary won them in California, are they racist too? What whiners! You know what, a lot of the time, people that perceive Hillary being attacked in the press blame it on sexism, but that really hasn’t been going on in the discussion here right now. It’s basically Obama supporters crying race about everything. Cause that’s the only reason why anyone wouldn’t vote for him, because of race, right? People keep talking about how Obama has the Latino’s best interest in hand and how they’re going to have to pack up and leave if she wins, but they’re not explaining why. People here keep saying that the Clintons are racist and not explaining why. There was only one attempt at an explanation upthread with “Hope” and her reason was rebutted by “Minty Fresh.” Why is it so hard to believe that Hispanics liked Hillary’s policies better and she’s been courting them longer?

    And the pettiness continues . . .

  • rosie

    Ok, let’s all take a deep breath…

I have been an Obama supporter since his 2004 senate run, but I have to admit I think the fact that he has yet to win a large state is problematic. If he didn’t win Ohio, I doubt he will win Pennsylvania. And if it goes down to the convention, the rifts in the party will be even deeper. What will democrats do if she has more of the popular vote, but Obama has slightly more delegates? And in the meantime, the Republicans can focus on healing their internal rifts now that McCain is the definitive nominee. If this drags on for another three months, will the supporters of the losing campaign rally around the democratic nominee?

I’m curious as to what other people think.

  • awake

I’m concerned as well, Rosie. I think we’ve yet to see how deep the racial/economic divide is in this country. Some white people (don’t want to offend anyone) will vote for McCain because they don’t like Hils or, because terrorism is their biggest issue. Latinos seem to be voting for Hillary as well and a number of them are Republican…and then you have white women, who want to see a white woman in office.

It’s all pretty scary, no matter who the Dem nominee is

  • oh well

    trueself,

if you don’t want to read comments on this page about Hillary’s experience before and after Bill’s Presidency then read her Wikipedia entry. Most of her resume is there.

And why are you making all these wild allegations about us being bombed if she wins. Is that supposed to scare us! Have you left the continental US, Billary is highly respected in foreign countries. They all know and respect who she is. Why am I even arguing with you, all you seem to be able to do is call blacks who don’t agree with you house niggers. aren’t you smart! And who says the Obama cult doesn’t race bait?

  • rosie

As for the whole “Hispanics being racist” bit…

I think we’re ascribing race differences to something that may really just be a class and/or age issue. Obama’s key demographics are young people, the college educated, affluent liberals, and blacks. Older Hispanic voters in Texas OVERWHELMINGLY went for Clinton, just like older voters in other states. And many Hispanics economically are working-class, a group that has consistently supported Clinton (except in Wisconsin). Two generations from now, I think more Mexican voters would have swung for Obama, but the socio-economic demographics are not in his favor right now.

Are there Hispanics who won’t vote for a black candidate? Sure, just as there are whites who won’t vote for a black candidate, or men who won’t vote for a female candidate. I’m not saying that it’s right, but let’s not pretend that this is solely a “Hispanic” problem, especially since whites are still far in the majority nationally.

  • Kenny

IDK, Hispanics and Blacks don’t get along. Here in Cali there is a racial tension between Hispanics vs. Blacks…….Therefore, Alot of the Hispanic voters are voting for Hillary just to not vote for the black man. Many people feel like they can’t trust a black man, thats why in Hillary ads Obama seems way darker than usual and they portray him as a terrorist. If only Blacks and Hispanics would come together we would be a force to be reckoned with, but everyone wants the Juice.

  • oh well

    @awake

Based on the last election, Republicans have done a better job of reaching out to Latinos, and Hillary is very centrist, which is why she would appeal to them, as opposed to Obama who’s more liberal.

  • rosie

    @ oh well

Hispanics are NOT going Republican after the way they handled Bush’s immigration reform bill. They let the wingnuts out of the attic on that issue.

I don’t think it has anything to do with the centrist/liberal labels; Villaraigosa in LA is very liberal, and most of the Hispanic caucus in Congress is pretty lefty.

I think Hillary appeals to a lot of Hispanic voters, especially new immigrant voters, because she is familiar. Bill Clinton was one of the few American presidents to approach Mexico as a partner state, rather than simply a resource for oil and cheap labor. There is a lot of really interesting research on immigrant ethnic voting patterns, which tend to start with what and who you know at first, and then over time evolve to class, rather than group interests. And per my previous post, Hispanics (with the notable exception of Cubans, who vote Republican anyway) tend to be lower on the economic ladder, which is where Clinton’s base is.

In my above scenario, by the way, McCain’s vice presidential candidate is the true winner. For real.

@Diva08 wrote, “I AM WATCHING THE CAFFERTY FILE RIGHT NOW ON CNN. AND EVERYBODY WRITING IN IS PISSED OFF THAT HILARY WON”

That’s like asking Blacks and Whites to come together — or Blacks and Asians. Latinos are not blacks and their concerns should not be treated like blacks concerns. Black and White Democrats are making a mistake, and certain Latino leaders are helping them make that mistake for immediate political chits instead of reminding Blacks and Whites what time it really is.

As for Hillary’s ads, that’s the number one reason why blacks should not immediately and unconditionally support her. No matter how one feels pro or con about her possible presidency and her alleged co-presidency back in the 90s and her junior senatorship in New York — she has disrespected the black community with her treatment of Obama. She has disrespected the black community through her manipulation of so-called black leaders and black op-ed writers to do her dirty work for her in smearing Obama. She has disrespected muslims and then claimed not to know what the big deal was. She is disrespectful and her behavior should not be rewarded with votes.

Many are saying to preserve the democrats chances it’s likely some one like Al Gore will have to unite the remaining Superdels for Obama. They know Hillary doesn’t have a chance. All of her wolfing about victory is to build momentum. She has even got on her chicken box pretending to offer Obama a VP seat. One more glaring look into her all talk no substance platform.

If the aforementioned happens it is a automatic victory for Obama. For those who are saying Obama didn’t win a big state well what about Illinois. So what if he’s from there so is Hillary. Born raised in Park Ridge.

Please know Democrats are not having Hillary because she is sacrificing the presidency to win the Primary. The last thing Obama wants to do is start mudslinging, he has won if he sticks to his brand or as they say in politics his platform.

Every one calling for RA RA Obama is silly. Mc Cain will use it against him later on and paint him as a hypocrite, he should save that for Mc Cain and blind side him when he tries to call him soft. He is the people’s candidate and a democrat with integrity. As supporters we have to keep this to the forefront.

The media exploited any black they could find all on TV screaming that they only voted for him because he was a black candidate. It was this imagery that gave whites the okay to kick it back into racist overdrive. On paper its obvious who the best candidate is. As for the hispanics, they love their gringos. Taught to worship them from day one. (Specifically our Mexican counterparts). They fit with Hillary because just like her they divide the pie to shoot for second place.

But they will come around when they see the benefits of having a candidate that is for the people and about the people. If every on would let go of the categories they would understand that Obama is how it should be. Every race is covered in his focus it’s not being PC its about being revolutionary and future state. He could set a precedent where presidents have to campaign for America’s vote and not just some choice sub groups.

I have Obama futures for any Hillary fans who want it.

The Audacity of Hillary pretending like she has a chance. I guess she has to much money at stake to quit. Thirsty ass!!!

  • yolanda

Black people have been voting for white people for over 200 years, everybody that has any color to their skin. Should have ran to to the polls and voted for OBAMA. Put all your polictical views behind you and STAND UP for our brother.

  • C.C.

I think some shady sthings went on, because I know the turnout was very big in Texas, and most of the support appeared to be for Obama. I really hope Obama gets that Democratic nomination, because Michelle Obama will be the most beautiful first lady this country has ever had. Their daughters will also be the most beautiful first children! Obamas rock!
