I just want to say that this is not a Philly pool — this happened in HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA — this area is predominantly white suburb — this kind of ish wounldn’t have happen in a Philly Pool

just wanted to set the record straight

These people need to kick rocks. All the sudden the media is giving them the full court press on the issue, now they want to invite the kids back. The damage is done, and they can now proudly wear their bigot badges. They ought to be ashamed of themselves–ruining summer for a bunch of Black and Latino kids. The sad part is that these adults are where the white kids who use the pool will learn their racism from.

The media has put this place on blast…Calling for resignations of the people that head it up will only leave room for the even more pissed off racist to fill those positions…

This place has received the perverbial “black eye” (no pun intended)…let it sit and stew in its own brew and become the eyesore of the community. It will eventually become a place of shame for the members and they will one-by-one drop membership. Then the building will sit vacant for a few years, and some non-profit group (like the daycare) can purchase it for it’s backtaxes…(oops) that’s what would happen in the real world…

i hope they sue the hell out of the pool.

The racism here is obvious especially given the INITIAL comment from the pool manager about how the ‘complexion’ tone would be changed with these kids…then they want to clean it up with a comment about the pool being overcrowded? Come on people!

So the pool got to save face by saying they will let the black kids in, but they won’t actually have any black kids swimming there. Sounds like it worked out perfect for them.

Thank goodness the day-care center didn’t cave. The kids would not have been welcome anyway in spite of what the club said. They only invited them back to get the heat off from national exposure.

What can you expect from a club that was established in 1955? This was just Jim Crow business as usual for the club. I bet the only minorities at the club work there.

Uncle Ruckus, co-sign on that. This should be a wake-up call to Mayor Nutter and the city that some budgets just can’t be cut. No local pools + no rec centers = future jailbirds. And why aren’t there any black folks in the protest lines?? We don’t have much to complain about when we let other folks do the complaiing for us.

If I was the attorney for the pool owners, I would counter charge racism based on their being no white children attending the camp.

The question is does the camp discriminate against white children and affluent children?

If this camp did not discriminate against white children and affluent children, those kids would have enjoyed a day in the pool.

Lets be real, the kids from the camp appear ghetto. If they were affluent, middle class even, they would have enjoyed a day in the pool.

My people are such hypocrits. Talking all Al Sharpton like, but you would have locked the door and turned out the lights had 25 project kids showed up on your doorstep to swim in your pool.

This segragation on both parts:

White children and affluent children don’t have the privilege to attend an inner city black camp and ghetto kids don’t have the privilege to attend a private white swimming pool.

I once had a white guy I dated ask me why black people can’t swim. He said he was asking because when he was in the military the brothers would always sink to the bottom the minute they jumped in the pool. I had to explain to him that for the most part we don’t have swimming pools in our schools and so few parks in our neighborhoods that when summer rolls around and the pools are open there are so many people in it you can’t f*cking move, let alone swim. He seemed shocked by what I was telling him but at least he walked away with a better understanding of our situation.

However he never could give me a good reason for why white people can’t dance for sh*t (and there’s a disco/club on every corner!).

I can swim my black tail off, but one time i went to a community pool and this white woman was in it when she came up out of the water she had big red rashy bumps on her legs and some look like they had scabs,,, that was it for me and since then i vowed i would never swim with qhite folks and i never have, let them think i cant swim .. good they will never know the truth i dont want to be in there with them!

Wow how interseting! I don’t think “white affluent” children really have to worry about an “inner city black camp” i am sure there”white affluient” parents stress every time their applications are denied!lol r u serious? Like I’ve been saying haven’t a damn thing change only the way they the white people go about it. Like on my job only the white people get promoted. I’ve been in my job title starting in 1995. A white janitor with a GED starting in 1998 became a manager in less than three years and I haven’t went up a grade. This is at the university of Chicago. Haven’t nothing changed.

I’m back! We need to get our country back to where it was before the blacks screwed it up! They are an immoral bunch who have influenced our children in a bad way! This has to stop!
