I think Obama did not comment about MJ because the republicans were waititng to turn his words against him. Music always brings people together but politics is divisive.

For the record, we the black community may have as you say cussed him out for what we assume trying to physically be white, but when it came time to ride for MJJ, he supported him, no questions asked. MJJ knew he was loved by his people. Besides, MJJ could look and listen to the young artists that came after him that jocked his style. Usher, Ginuwine, Neo, etc. So, he knew we hade love and respect for him. We didn’t understand his actions, but we loved him.

I, seriously doubt that Obama thougt he was on the same level as MJJ. MJJ has been apart of so many lives as far as entertainment for 45 years, and his talent was unmatched. Obama knows that ain’t nobody trying to cry and pass out just for him like that. Not to sound rude, but he knows he’s liked, but MJj was LOVED!

Mike was loved by his children unconditionally, that’s all that matters in the end. I guess I’m projecting my mom’s life and death on to this tragedy. My mom only had her childrens love as far as people are concerned, never felt love from her family, she called herself the blacksheep, and because of the trauma and pain they put her through, even as an adult, she never got over it. She forgave them, and loved them just the same, but like MJJ, she never released that pain, and died from progessive brain cancer. So, when a person faces tragedy,steming from childhood to adulthood, their mental health is healed, but their physical health is totally destroyed. So, I can mourn for MJJ, because like my mother he never dealt with his mental pain, which manifested itself into the phsyical. And that hurts. To see another human being suffer like that.

wow, way to put it into perspective. You know I wondered why Obama didn’t say anything sooner, but I was thinking he’s busy doing presidential stuff. But why the wincing when he finally did say something? Yea, maybe he’s loves the spotlight too…shakin’ my head. And HE DID SHOW HIMSELF at that interview! I was trying to give Jermaine the benefit of the doubt, but all the while thought he was loving the new-found media attention- which was confirmed later at the memorial..mic hog! But I;m feeling like God took him before something tragic happened on stage, rendering him a “tragedy” forever. Folks sure turned their backs on him when he needed them most…damn Mike…True fans have been truly ill-stricken with grief since June 25… We miss you Mike…R.I.P.
