Alabama Math Teacher Placed On Leave For Outrageous Assignment

Is this racist or just plain stupid?

According to Fox 10 News reports a Burns Middle School teacher in her last year before retirement has been placed on administrative leave after giving her Mobile, Alabama 8th grade math class a test that included a series of disturbing word problems involving criminal activity and using character names such as Ramon, Leroy, Pedro and Tyrone.

Question 1 on the quiz asks: “How many drive-by shootings can Ramon attempt before he has to steal enough ammunition and reload?”

Question 2 reads: “Leroy has 2 ounces of cocaine. If he sells an 8 ball to Antonio for $320 and 2 grams to Juan for $85 per gram, what is the street value of the rest of his hold?”

Question 8 reads: “Tyrone knocked up 4 girls in the gang. There are 20 girls in his gang. What is the exact percentage of girls Tyrone knocked up?”

As you can probably imagine, shocked parents came to the school demanding answers.

The test was not written by the math teacher, and has circulated online for decades creating similar outrage. The teacher will remain suspended pending an investigation, Fox 10 reported.

What would you do if it was your kid?
