Black Celebrity Scholarships
The media spends too much time on negativity and what celebrities are doing wrong. But what about what they’re doing right? That’s why we decided to highlight 20 Black celebrities who are offering scholarships. They need and deserve shine, too. So let’s give it to them.
Alicia Keys – Open Doors Scholars Program – Four $5,000 scholarships for students in Jacksonville, New Orleans, Atlanta, and Harlem. In return students have to represent the organization at speaking events.
Jay Z – Shawn Carter Foundation Scholarship – He gives various scholarships of $1,500 to $2,500 depending on merit and GPA.
Will.i.am – “I Am” Scholarship – He gives four full scholarships to students.
Cedric “The Entertainer” Scholarship – This is for students looking to attend public or private colleges in the St. Louis area. Students must have community service experience and leadership qualities.
Oprah – Oprah Winfrey Endowed Scholarship Fund – It’s a scholarship for men attending Morehouse who are in financial need.
Michael And Juanita Jordan – Michael and Juanita Jordan Scholarship – They partnered with UNCF to grant $5,000 scholarships to Chicago-area students with 3.0 GPA or higher.

Tiger Woods – The Earl Woods Scholarship – This scholarship provides counseling, support, financial support and more for first-generation college students.
Michael Jackson – Michael Jackson and Rhythm Nation Scholarships – Provides scholarships for undergraduate or graduate students who are majoring in Art, Communications, Drama, English, Fine Arts, Mass Communications, Music, Performing Arts, Theater, Vocal Performance, or Visual Arts.
Flip Wilson – Flip Wilson Memorial Scholarships – The scholarship is for African-American students to get full scholarships in the Communications department at Rutgers University.
Jimi Hendrix – Jimi Hendrix Scholarship Fund – It’s a scholarship for talented guitar players in need with a 2.5 GPA.
Ossie Davis – Ossie Davis Endowment Scholarship – This scholarship managed by the UNCF is for $6,800 and for students pursuing a degree in African American Studies, Communications, Fine Arts, Humanities, Performing Arts, Political Science, Social Sciences, or Theater Arts/Drama.
Derek Jeter – The Derek Jeter/Kalamazoo Community Foundation Scholarship – This scholarship is for students in Kalamazoo County, Michigan to attend four-year universities full-time.
LeBron James – The Lebron James Family Foundation Scholarship – He’s pledged to pay four years of tuition for 2,000 students at University of Akron.
Nas – The Nas Scholarship Fund – The scholarship is program that gives exceptional college graduates job training and placement. This way people can land on their feet after graduation.
AJ Calloway – Building The Bridge Foundation – This is a scholarship for Howard students.
Magic Johnson – Magic Johnson Scholarship – $2,000-5,000 scholarships for 30 scholars annually for up to five years.
Chris Brown – Chris Brown Doubles Symphonic Love Scholarship – He paid for 11 students to train six days a week at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy.
Nelly – Black And White Ball Scholarship Program – The program gave two full college scholarships at Lindenwood University.
