Hollywood Moms Halle Berry, Kim Kardashian West And Charlize Theron Speak On Police Shootings

With all that’s been going on in the news lately even the stars aren’t above reacting. Halle Berry took to her Instagram with an impassioned post pleading for the public to do something to create peaceful change:

What will my brown son’s future be? What will your brown son’s future be? The uncertainty is real. I beg you not to be a bystander in this life, but to go out and find ways to make peaceful change. Our boys need us so rather than launching into deep sentiment here on this platform, I promise to find ways to get involved and help. Please do the same. You can start by reaching out to your local politicians, legislators & government officials NOW. Let us be heard.

God bless all the victims and families of these senseless CRIMES.

Kudos to her for speaking up.

Meanwhile, Charlize Theron who has a young African-American son and daughter took time during an interview with HipHollywood while promoting the animated film Kubo and The Two Strings, to respond to questions about the violence saying:

“I want to be proactive in some way and its not enough to sit and complain,” said Theron emotionally. “It’s really frightening when you have little kids, I have two African American kids, and the world has to get rid of it’s racism, and we have to turn the page, it’s been a long long time, we have to turn the page.”

That’s real.

Hit the flip for Kim’s take on recent current events.

In a post on her website and app Kim addresses the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile:

#STRAIGHTUP
#BLACKLIVESMATTER
This week we watched Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, two innocent black men, get senselessly murdered by police officers. Like a lot of you guys, I watched the videos, and was appalled and completely heartbroken. I was left speechless, angry and numb.

I want my children to grow up knowing that their lives matter. I do not ever want to have to teach my son to be scared of the police, or tell him that he has to watch his back because the people we are told to trust—the people who “protect and serve”—may not be protecting and serving him because of the color of his skin.

The last thing we need is to fuel anger with more hate or violence, especially toward the many incredible police officers who risk their lives every single day to protect our families and communities. We must peacefully use the power of our voices and the strength of our numbers to demand changes in the judicial system so that brutality doesn’t ever go unpunished.

It is our responsibility as Americans and as parents to create a safe future for our children. We must do something NOW. We must speak up until we are heard and real, effective changes are made.

Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland, Sean Bell … and unfortunately so many more.

Hashtags are not enough. This must end now.
