I’m sure it’s nice to debut at number one, but Jay (like Diddy, who is pretty talentless) makes far more money off his other business ventures than from music. The industry is not set up for artists to get rich (TLC, Hammer, Toni Braxton, and insert the name any one hit wonder you’d like)and most artists make more money off touring and merchandise than they do from CD sales. They make an average of twenty cents to a dollar per CD so even though the “dance rappers” (Flo Rida, Soulja Boy, Plies and whoever else 16 year old girls listen to these days) make less than that I’m sure. Those songs may be popular but unless they make some serious business moves soon, they will be soon forgotten. True artists (Nas, Ghostface Killa, Outkast, etc) are always gonna outlive and outlast the popular kiddies ruling the charts now (Q-Tip’s last CD was excellent in my opinion, but it will never get airplay cause “Halle Berry” is on every 10 minutes…)
