What’s wrong with Obama “apologizing” if he felt he said the wrong thing without ALL the FACTS. To me, he still comes out on top. Most males wouldn’t-couldn’t because of their EGO. Here you have the PRESIDENT doing it because he’s a MAN.

Bush didn’t apologize for anything or ever admit he was wrong. But that wasn’t a good thing. I do worry that Obama is a little too wishy washy, but at least he has a little retrospect. The only way that a person can improve is to admit mistakes

This isn’t Officer Crowley that arrested Dr. Gates. It’s reported that this is Sgt. Dennis O’Connor, president of the Cambridge Police Superior Officers Association. And, this photo was supposedly taken by a Harvard student at a deli in Cambridge after O’Connor tried to convince the public that Gates’ arrest wasn’t racially motivated. This is what the student had to say:

‘I’m not nearly as disturbed by the illegal parking job as I am by the utter crudeness of the plates, especially in the aftermath of the Gates debacle.’

Wow…just goes to show you that people make assumptions without knowing the facts.This car belongs to my brother.He got that name MANY years ago because he was the only “white” kid in his group “black” friends.They gave that name to him.He is one of the most beloved officers on the CPD by blacks,whites,hispanics etc. just to let you know!!!!!

This is not Sgt.Dennis O’Connor and he has the plates because that’s what EVERYONE calls him!!!

Yeah, they start trouble, but, judging from the comments, some actually believed it.

This is my cousin. A great guy, a great cop,and a great father. NOT in any way racist. Anyone who knows anyone in cambridge knows this man and will tell you the same. He is also not the arresting officer in the Gates issue. Get your facts straight and leave other people out of your crap!!!!

Would you feel better if officer “why-tee’s” BLACK family members responded to this? He has a few.

The sad thing here is that Media and Gossip have merged for the purpose of sensationalism and not journalism in any form!!! Thus without ANY apparent effort to truly investigate, an image that seeems controversial and racist can be posted and subsequently encourage ignorance rather than discussion.

We need to be able to have an intelligent conversation about RACE RELATIONS and the circumstances surround the Gate’s case, and not simply perpetuate racial polarization based on soundbites, and unexplained images. This type of media reporting, only encourages mis-informed anger exhibited in comments like some listed here. Kudos to those of you who have tried to be more objective.

THE OFFICER WHO OWNS THAT CAR has had the nickname since he was a kid. What you see there is a phonetic spelling of his nickname. He grew up in a predominately minority (significantly black) neighborhood, hanging out, playing basketball, becoming a reliable and respected friend for many, etc. And I (A BLACK MAN, WHO GREW UP IN THE AREA) who knows him personally, has seen him as an adult, yelled his nickname out to him WHEN HE IS IN UNIFORM (much to the confusion of onlookers), and had him walk over, give me a pound (the greeting for you fools who might want to make another type of corruption joke), and caught up on up on life and family. This guy, and the folks I know on the Cambridge Police are good men and women. (Many of whom grew up in Cambridge, attended the ONLY Public High School in Cambridge together, and for most grew up in racially and ethnically diverse neighborhoods, playing and getting along with all different kind of people!!!)

DON’T TRY TO LABEL HIM OR ANYONE ELSE AS RACIST WITHOUT FACTS! WE DO NOT NEED THIS TYPE OF MEDIA FOOLISHNESS ADDING TO THE PROBLEM.

As for the related case, I don’t know what happened at Dr. Gate’s home and media soundbites is not enough to comment. I DO BELIEVE RACIAL PROFILING OCCURS IN AMERICA (see comments later), and I won’t say it can’t happen in Cambridge (I don’t know all the officers.)

What I am commenting on, is the attempt to portray ALL Police, whether in Cambridge or elsewhere as oppressors, and if White then as most likely Racist. I have had my undue problems with police (pulled over for 66mph in a 65 zone, and then delayed with questions about my business in the area (DWB); embarrassing street-side lineup for a crime I logistically couldn’t have committed across town (again DWB, and “fitting” (Black Male) the description; etc.)(Neither of which occurred in Cambridge.) But I don’t go around blaming ALL Police.

Engage in some due diligence, and stop fueling sensationalist “journalism” and the BS people.

Oh and Officer Whitee, or whatever you call yourself-we will be sure to send your post to other news outlets. you can’t even control your emotions-what’s up with threatening people in your dialogue? This proves you could do anything to hurt someone while out on ‘the job’. What kind of cop are you? A dirty, low-life, racist, ignorant cracker as you have already displayed? Thought so!

If Gates had of been white, and the officer black… Would the story have made national headlines?

Of coarse not! I am not saying race is not a factor in many issues, and yes people are descriminated against, but the race card is played way too often!

People like Jesse Jackson and Rev Sharpton love to see it happen! It gets the hate mongers riled up! If you want to find either of them, just find a t.v. camera and a microphone and they are either there already or on the next plane to get there!

They are like ambulance chasing lawyers, just waiting for someone to cry racist. This puts them in the spotlite, where they love to be!

People who consistantly play the race card can be much worse than the racist themselves! Just because you happen to be white or any other skin color for that matter, does not automatically make you racist.

By the same token, being a person of color does not automatically make you victum!

But regardless of your skin color, sex, national origin etc… You can always be a whiner!
