Is Marc Jacobs Appropriating Black Culture For Runway Show

We realize you don’t have to be black to appreciate dreadlocks. And we understand fashion designers like to “get creative” with their hair and makeup choices, but when we saw these photos of Karlie Kloss on her way to the Marc Jacobs NYFW runway show we definitely had a “Hmmmmmmm?” moment.

Here’s a video the Marc Jacobs team posted of the show on their Instagram. Looking at social media from the show it doesn’t look like they used more than a few black models. So we just gotta ask — is it okay that our hairstyle made the cut but not our models? We’ve been looking for diversity on runways for DECADES now and we agree that Adriana Lima, Bella and Gigi Hadid, Irina Shayk and Kendall Jenner are cute but… Where Jourdan Dunn at? How about Joan Smalls? Naomi Campbell?

Is this blatant out and out appropriation? Or are you feeling the Marc Jacobs show hairstyles (on predominantly European featured models)?

Hit the flip for more from the show.
