MJB Design Group Says Chris & Adrienne Bosh Owe $2 Million

An interior design firm says that NBA baller Chris Bosh and his wife Adrienne tried to weasel out of paying for nearly $2 million in decorating work because the player’s poor health means they are running out of money.

MJB Design Group said Chris and Adrienne tried to get out of paying for the firm’s interior decorating services on their rural Texas mansion because Chris’ recurrent blood clots mean it’s not clear if he’ll ever get back to work.

MJB Design said it expected to make $1.6 million for decorating the Boshes new home on 47 acres in Prosper, Tx, outside Dallas. Instead, the company claimed as Chris’ health continued to fail, which forced him to sit out for most of the last two basketball seasons, and when a homebuilder announced it was constructing thousands of homes nearby, the Boshes stopped paying.

“Upon information and belief, the Boshes refusal to pay to MJB the amounts due by the Boshes to MJB is based upon, among other things, C. Bosh’s health, C. Bosh’s professional uncertainty (and) the Boshes refusal to invest funds necessary to complete construction of the project…” MJB Design’s suit reads.

The firm – which specializes in decorating high-end homes – sued the Boshes last week for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, fraud and negligent representation in U.S. Federal Court in Fort Lauderdale, according to documents obtained by BOSSIP.

The design company said the Boshes made a deal with them to design their soon to be built mansion, guesthouse, barn and tennis court on their 47-acre Texas pile.

According to the deal’s terms, the house was supposed to be completed by May 2016, and the Boshes would work exclusively with MJB.

But the ‘ish hit the fan during a meeting with Chris, Adrienne, Windrush Custom Homes – their home construction company – and MJB Design, where Windrush said the Boshes hadn’t paid them in a year and a half and the couple had run out of money for the project.

Bosh – who signed an $118 million five year contract in 2014 – eventually pulled out of the deal all together, according to case docs. MJB Design said it’s asked for payment over and over, but last month, the Boshes told them that they wouldn’t get a dime more.

The firm said the Boshes stuck the knife in further when they began working with another interior designer and Adrienne gloated about it on Instagram.

MJB Design wants its money, plus interest and lawyer’s fees. The Boshes haven’t yet responded to the lawsuit.
