Former Footballer Must Pay Baby Mama

Ex-NFL star Clinton Portis’ baby mama scored a $40,000 victory in her legal battle over a judgment she won against him before he filed for bankruptcy.

A federal court judge has ruled that the athlete must pay the woman as part of his Chapter 7 case, BOSSIP has learned.

Back in December, Portis filed for bankruptcy, saying he owed $5 million to various creditors but had $13 million in assets – and $10 million of that chunk wasn’t guaranteed and was listed as potential money from two companies he is currently suing. Portis filed for bankruptcy despite pulling in more than $43 million during his nine seasons in the NFL.

The former Denver Broncos running back listed his debt breakdown: $500,000 to his mother, $500,000 to a former football reporter, over $1 million to a mortgage company, nearly $400,000 to the IRS, more than $287,000 to MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and various other creditors.

Portis also said he currently owes $412,000 in back domestic support to four different women, but only has $150 in his checking account.

Portis’ current monthly income is only $7,500, but he has expenses totaling almost $13,000 per month.

However, he is currently involved in 2 nasty legal battles with Pro Sports Financial for $8 million over a failed casino investment, along with $2 million case against Jade Private Wealth Management.

The Borgata Hotel & Casino also sued him for $170,000 for fraud by taking out a line of credit at the casino despite him knowing he was broke. They demanded the debt not be cleared in his bankruptcy and he still be on the hook for the $170,000. Portis shot back at the casino denying he ever committed fraud and said the suit should be thrown out of court.

After he filed for bankruptcy, his baby mama, Lashundra Jones, filed docs demanding he pay up on more than $40,000 she won in a separate legal battle with Portis. She explained that she sued Portis for paternity in Florida Court back in 2008. The case has been going on for years with both sides blasting the other in court.

The judge presiding over the case ordered the NFL star to her a total of $40,542.50 in attorney fees back in November. However, she claimed that he didn’t pay a dime on the judgement prior to him filing for bankruptcy.

Jones demanded that the judge lift the automatic bankruptcy stay (which prevents creditors from continuing to go after a debtor for debt during a bankruptcy) and allow her to start going after Portis for the debt he owes her from the paternity case.

Then on October 7th … the bankruptcy judge came back and sided with the baby mama by awarding her the full $40,542.50, and ordering the debt will not be wiped clean in his case,

and Portis is now on the hook for domestic support he was ordered to pay his baby mama.
