College Star’s NFL Dreams Dashed Because Pregnant Girlfriend Wanted “Attention”
A Florida International University football star had his NFL dreams cut short after his pregnant girlfriend Al Green’ed him (sans grits) during an argument.
According to the police report Jonnu Smith was arguing with his girlfriend Mary Gaspar, who is 5 months pregnant, for most of the day over the lack of attention he was showing her in the relationship and she became upset and left.
Gaspar later returned to Smith’s dorm room on campus, where she began to boil a pot of water and proceeded to throw it on him.
Telling police she was feeling “emotional and stressed,” Gaspar then said she hit him when Smith didn’t react strongly enough, according to the report. She was charged with aggravated battery and released on a pre-trial release order.
Smith has officially been ruled out for the rest of the season and will likely never play football again. He was considered one of the top tight ends in college football this season, Smith was projected to be selected in the late rounds of April’s NFL Draft.
