Dave Chappelle’s New Netflix Comedy Special Deal Is Worth $60 Million
Yesterday we rejoiced as news broke that Dave Chappelle would be taking his talents to Netflix in 2017 for three new stand-up comedy specials.
Today, PageSix brings us more details about the deal, specifically, how much money is gonna be in comedian’s pocket as a result of this new business arrangement.
Dave Chappelle is the proud new owner of $60 million.
One insider said: “Dave was offered $20 million a special. Netflix basically has a war chest for this kind of content. Whether it’s a loss or not, Dave Chappelle’s specials will get a lot of press and bring in new subscribers.”
Gotta love seeing black folks get compensated, even overcompensated, for their talents and influence. Despite whatever misgivings he had with Comedy Central that caused him to forgo the infamous $50 million they offered for Chappelle’s Show back in 2005, Dave wasn’t about to miss that boat a second time.
Considering all we’ll have to endure in 2017 with Donald’s presidency, this is exactly the type of self-care escapism that we’ll need to keep our sanity.
