How did this quote get to be a generalization of all black women blaming black men for their problems. I know plenty of different types of black women, Its6amHogetOut,Black, yet very well educated,Nat Turna, and Swirl King? I did read where a black woman quoted anything stereotypical of black men. However, since you brought it up let me just say I’m sure loads of black women would be happy to hand over the reigns as head of household as soon as some of your counterparts (see how I didn’t blame all black men for the transgressions of a few) would get on their “grown man” and start taking care of their children, find jobs in other fields besides all aspiring to be rappers and selling drugs (oh and I don’t want to hear the white man brings it in the country, it’s still a choice you make as an individual to sell it. If you are that good at math and cooking drugs, ever though about a career in accounting maybe pharmacy?), and start treating us like you want to be treated. Some of our black men forget they aren’t the only ones that are considered second cl***** citizens. We go through it with you. A vast majority of the time we have to carry you weak *****es through it. It was the black women of olde that were considered bedwarmers, had to not only breast feed their children but their white slave owners children too. Black females of today have endured just as much injustice (i.e Tarika Wilson and child), but it seems the only time some black men choose to be with a black woman is when he is down and out and need to be carried, let him get up on his luck, you think the spoils are shared with us, Nope. You find someone of a different race to take care of forgetting who took care of you when you were less than nothing. So for this reason,black women have had to do what they needed to do. First of all let me correct some of the typos that I thought I had corrected: 1.I did read where a black woman quoted anything stereotypical of black men. This should be I DIDN’T.
2. That shouldn’t have been a question mark after the names.
3. I did not generalize all black men, I made examples of some situations I’ve heard of.
4. I don’t nor have I ever thought about the idea of entertaining an aspiring rapper or drug dealer.
5. My comment was just like yours, to express my malcontent with the way SOME black men act towards black women. The only difference is I didn’t say ALL.
6. My comment was to give black women a voice in all the disdain shown for them on a daily basis on this site, on television, and in everyday life. Black women have had to be strong, loud, and aggressive because too many of our men cower behind us insted of standing up for us. I’m a very positive person. I’m also very outspoken and will not stand to see all black women generalized. It’s gone to far. We aren’t just hoes, w*****s, *****es, baby mamas. Oh and here is some food for thought, if black women are unmarriable and aren’t the ones getting married, who’s to blame for the high divorce rate in this country? ( I know that was completely off the subject, but I just thought I’d throw it out there.) Secondly i would like to say that i recognize the historical and social importance of black women in our society. but like some one said before, young black girls are being taught that being a “strong” black women means that you have to have a nasty attituted and become a difficult person to get along with. which is why i said before 70% of black women are single(if you dont believe me look it up). young girls learn this because most of them grew up in single parent homes with bitter mothers who did not teach them what kind of brotha they should choose for themselves.

If you go back a reread my post, you will notice that I used the word some, not all. I also said these are situations I’ve heard of. Speaking an opinion is in no way bitter. If that was the case, the same point could be made of your post. Please don’t take it personally. The people that I quoted in my post was because their points stood out to me. I was not raised by a single parent. My father was married to my mother before I was born and they were married for over 25 years (before he went through midlife crisis and wanted to date younger women and bought a new sports car, now he begs her back every day. She say’s no, but still cooks him Fat free, sugar free Sunday dinner and makes sure he has his diabetes medicine. Go figure, too much history and strong lover for the father of her children she says. Everyone makes mistakes, and this is his cross to bear. Nothing wrong with being cordial and kind to oneanother she says. He doesn’t like her new beau.)I learned to love, forgive, respect, and honor the relationship between a man and woman of any race. There was a old white couple that had been married for 56 years across the street from us, and would watch us after school when my parents were at work and take very good care of us. I noticed nothing different in their relationship than I did in my parents because when people love it doesn’t matter the race or age. So trust me when I say I’m not bitter by a long shot.

And I don’t think we should make fun of athletes. A lot of cats do get degrees and if they don’t get degrees, they have access to money and start their own businesses. The problem is, too many of these athletes don’t have good guidance in life. And I don’t mean business wise, cause they have managers and etc. helping and guiding. I must apologize for starting the aspiring rapper drug dealer comment. I reread my comment and it did sound condescending to rappers. There are some very good rappers who aren’t past dope boys or criminals. I was wrong to make that generalization especially when I’m on here trying to speak against generalizing. What I meant to say is I don’t entertain drug dealers and those aspiring to be rappers who won’t do any other type of work beside selling drugs or robbing until they make it rapping. I did not intend to offend anyone aspiring to rap if they are going about it the right way and have an actual p*****ion for the craft. I understand that not everyone can rap and it is an artistry. You better know that I’m in graduate school working on my MBA at UGA and that the ONLY reason that I hold him down is because I’m going to get what’s coming to me regardless. All I’m saying is that when he becomes a doctor, I will be one along side him. I can with confidence say that his azz ain’t going nowhere cause I get down. I’m in the gym, getting it. If he leaves, it won’t be because I’m a lazy blk broad that don’t want anything and have a million kids cause I not and I don’t. You see, in addition to making sure my boo is cool, he takes care of me as well. I would NEVER bank on marrying rich and that is exactly why work 50 hr weeks, schooling, entrepreneur(train 3 clients a week) and keep myself up because whyte broads know what to do. I will give them that. I don’t see my people in the gym during lunch breaks. I see them. All of my clients are them. I don’t see my people in that night cl*****, I see them. Lastly, when I occasionally travel with my fiancee when he is touring the different med schools, I don’t see my people, I see Indians and them. No disrespect to my people but I don’t see us when it relates to the environments that I’ve mentioned above.

That’s exactly why i try to be patient because sometimes, just sometimes, when someone jumps me in line or a waitress forgets my fork, I try to be patient and not roll my neck and snap my fingers only because sometimes I believe they “f” to get a reaction out of us. It’s like they look at how you are going to react to them. Kill them with kindness cause they’re the ones that need help.
What Chris Rock failed to realize is that Hillary Clinton said that, “You get two for the price of one”, she did the same thing, that Cris is trying to do. And it’s ironic, and really proves a point that comedians don’t research because, Michelle Obama has made it clear that she will be first wife, and her concern would be raising her daughters. So, why would she suddenly change and be like Cris thinks she would act.
It’s 2008 and comedians are still discussing race, how original? At this point, race is so over, when people are losing their jobs, homes, health care.With the vast integration of different cultures, why making jokes about a particular race even relevant?

Well as a black woman, I don’t react in a hostile manner when a waitress forgets something, because my mother raised me to be kind and courteous at all times. 2. I was taught to act like you have sense when you go somewhere. 3. My mother raised me to be a lady, and ladies don’t act ghetto or loud. But, we really should stop labeling this as a black woman problem, because all women act like that. The only difference is that black men are the only men to publicly ridicule their women for such behavior, to justify their attraction to other women.

Hi. I don’t think its so bad that you express your displeasure with the way some black men conduct themselves but I am not feeling the way you’re doing it. You’re not doing yourself, as the indedendent black woman you claim to be or any of your independent sisters any favor by getting on here and saying F— the black man, and the black man ain’t S—. By expressing your feeling in such poor taste you are actually doing us all a disservice because it perpetuates distrust between the sexes.

Can someone tell me how this post became an attack on black women? Ladies, please ignore some of the ignorant men on this post (excluding Bear because he’s a logical voice of reason). They aren’t worth the time or energy. They obviously are the bitter ones because this post wasn’t even about black women per se. It’s funny how when people attack you and you defend yourself, they say things like, “Yeah, you prove my point” or “yeah, you seem bitter.” They have deep seated issues and they deal with it by criticizing others. Let them be, the poor things.
Bid men like this farewell and thank the Lord that you don’t have to be stuck with some screwed up man who cannot take responsibility for who he is. Most people that project negativity have some inward issues going on. They must criticize others in order to exhalt themselves. Do you want to be paired up with someone that has emotional and mental baggage? I wouldn’t so quit getting emotional behind these ignorant men who sit behind a computer screen and talk crap like they are perfect. They aren’t worth it. Every person has issues regardless of the color; some just seem to overlook either their own issues or the issues of the mate they so desire. It’s a sad reality.

Because as I said – you have to be good. While I can definitely aim a ball at a hoop – I am not good at it and I don’t pretend to be.. That still doesn’t mean that it takes any sort of intelligence to be an athlete
i am a black woman and i take offense to this statement. i play professional basketball in the WNBA and abroad. i read this board daily for entertainent purposes only. it takes a lot to be a the top and considered a part of the ELITE in this profession just as any other profession. i am a college grad. but just because we atletes dont spend our workdays in an office, its hard work an dedication none the less. countless hours on the court practicing, 4 days a week in the weight room, running and keeping in shape everyday. but lets not forget the endless film sessions…remembering 100 of my teams plays then being required to remember the oppossing teams plays. its not book smarts at this point but it is a knowledge of the game. we are very intelligent. this is my GOD given gift and i strive to perfect it everyday. we, men and women in sports didnt just wake up one day at the age of 22 and jump on a professional team and start shooting hoops. its years of hard work starting at young ages…8-10. so please do not insult my profession. and just in case u go there….i was graduated with honors from high school, had 3 college creds going in to college. and i graduated college with a B average. so i am far from the stereotypical dumb jock. and many of us are far from it….men and women who dont go pro, the majority move on to successful careers other than sports.
but on topic i am not a bitter black woman. i love my black men….i am confident and who i am. i love being a woman. i love letting my man be a man. i feel no need to overstep him, but i am neither in his shadow. he lifts me up the same as i lift him. i am his backbone, his queen and he is my king. all black men are not the same, and all black women are not the same. if other ethnicities float ur boat, then by all means do u. i dont hate, i have dated outside of my race. but i dated him not because he was white but because i was atrracted to him, and he was attracted to me. and believe when a white man is walking around with a black woman, there are just as many stares and hate coming from both races.
in my opinion everyone is too worried about the next person and not themselves. take a break and look in the mirror and see what it is about yourself that U dont like, and possibly others. fix your baggage and your mishaps. heal yourself, then the rest is a peice of cake.

My entire life I have wondered why Black men are the only men who seem to enjoy disrespecting the women of their own race. Are they that easily emasculated?
