Kanye is being sued by Dayna Staggs, A.K.A. DMystro, for copyright infringement:
“Staggs says that West ‘didn’t obtain a license to use ‘Volume of Good Life’ for his tune [The Good Life]. D’Mystro is also peeved because Kanye’s song “contains vulgar and offensive” images and “harms the reputation” of his much cleaner song. He wants 85% of all world sales of the proceeds from the music that uses his work, though he doesn’t explain how he came up with that number.”
Watch your back Kanye, this dude is trying to dig deep in your pockets.

The song used a sample of “PYT” in the actual beat but the hook was taken from the dude whos suing him. To Kanye’s defense he doesnt use as many samples as he used to, or should I say as much of a sample. Look back at College Drop Out and he had whole songs, i.e: “Through the Wire (Fire)” by Chaka, he just sped the beat up and added *****. Now he uses subtle samples like most producers. Dont get it twisted like dude cant make original beats because of samples because “Diamonds Are Forever”, “Cant Tell Me Nothing” and “Stronger” were 3 of the best beats EVER and they just used old vocals from someone else, not actual riffs. No matter how you slice it you have to compensate the person that created what you are using, because that is called stealing yet the numbers that this guy is asking for is re*****.

I happen to LOVE Kanye but he needs to stop taking music without permission. It is very interesting to see artist like Kanye who demand respect but fail to give respect to people who make it possible to create their music. If he truly loves music he needs to follow the industry ethics.

I’m not sure if 85% is a lot, but when you take anyone’s stuff without permission, no amount is really too much, i mean, you used there stuff. I heard before that he used Evil Kenevil’s (sp) image on one of his videos and he was gonna sue Kanye.
Cant anybody be original anymore? thats why i dont even bother going to concerts or buying their music cause its never the artist thats really talented.
