I read the GQ article and it is one of the most thoughtful, unbiased article I have read on MJ since his death. Great journalism on the writers behalf. I agree the title leaves a bit to be desired but I tell you the content of the actual article is great. There are alot of little things in the article about MJs work the many people have never been exposed to before. I encourage people to at least read the article online before dismissing it. GQ did make a mistake with the title though.

Michal Jackson is worthy of our respect. In the end, he beat the music industry at their own game. He owned the Beatles catalog, as well as other artists music (including Elvis) and he called the shots. As a matter of fact, his troubles did not start until he surpassed Elvis, which white folks could not take. Whatever you might think of him he was a serious businessman when it came to making money. This is why his family is set for life right now. He knew how to play the game. Name another artist out there that even comes close to his fame and notoriety, not to mention his music. The man was a genius. He purposely did oddball things and changed his appearance and it kept the public interested in him for just that reason. We were never bored with Michael, he kept our curiosity about him going for years. That’s quite a feat. Also Michael was never broke, as the media claims, and never could be as long as he owned the Beatle catalogs. Sony has been trying to destroy his career because of this, but he would not break. He was a very smart man in all that he did and a very giving person who shared his wealth with the less fortunate – Oprah has nothing on Michael Jackson in this area, and he did not boast about it, unlike Oprah which is why you just found out. The man had a big heart. Elvis does not even come close to Michael Jackson. He is and will always be the King of Pop and so much more to so many. Believe the lies of the media about him if you want, but you need to do your research in order to get the full picture of who this man really was. This was greatness that you won’t see any time soon in this lifetime.

Speaking of haters, Michael was not a child molester. He was found not guilty across the board, and no parnet in their right mind settles for $22,000,000 when their child was molested; no amount of money deal with the scars from abuse, and I speak as a survivor of sexual abuse. One of the parents was connected to welfare fraud.
As far as Michael’s skin bleaching, he did that to even his skin out because he suffered from vitiligo. I have friends who suffer from the same disease. The face and hands lose pigmentation, but they do not have the same scrunity Michael did; always having to be this for the fans.
Michael was the commsumate performer, but an even better humanitarian, and greedy people took advantage of his big heart, especially Dr. Conrad Murray. He’s the victim, still.

Elvis was number one to White America; Michael was number one to Black America, White America, and even the world. Michael gave out more of his own substance to help poor kids, but cowards like Lil Wayne hasn’t done a thing for those less fortunate, yet he can call Michael a fag…
when Michael died, a big chunk of real music and real humanness went with him, and he will forever be mourned…and the participants who killed him…they will have to answer….
