Another Jail-Bound Former Athlete

Posted by Bossip Staff

Apparently, he can steal more than just the ball. Former NBA star Isaiah “J.R.” Rider was arrested on Saturday for allegedly driving a stolen car:

“Police say the 37-year-old ex-Laker was seen failing to stop at a limit line around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. When officers pulled over the car, they found it had been reported stolen from South Los Angeles. Rider was booked for investigation of driving a car without the owner’s consent. He’s jailed on $25,000 bail.

Rider played at UNLV before starting his pro career in 1993. He played with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Portland Trail Blazers, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets before ending his career in 2001. But Rider had a string of arrests both during and after his career for drug use, assault and other crimes. Last year, he pleaded guilty in Marin County to several charges, including felony cocaine possession, battery and evading a police officer.”

This is a real deal “Thug Fo Life” right here. If that NBA salary couldn’t keep that ass in line, then that just about says it all.

and this is why if I ever have a son, I dont care how talented he is in basketball, he is finishing college and getting a proper education!

  6. victory is mine

damn they need to start taking advantage of those college scholarships…..for all future nba players take your ***** to cl***** and learn something so you won’t be caught out there when ballin is over…

  7. Donald R. King, posting as Bones Jordan

Not news, read this bull***** on Wikipedia the other day, when I was lookin at the 93 NBA draft and how it WAS TRULY A DOOMED CL*****. All of them *****s is *****ed up, injured, doin bad or something stupid like this idiot. I like Bossip for once, if them big checks can’t make you behave, nothing will.

Dead in five years. For real. I don’t wish it upon him but J.R. is a stone cold knucklehead. Just a waste of flesh….. he’ll never do right. Ever. and it’s sad. HAve a good day yall. Bossip aint’ talkin bout *****.

  8. Negrodamus Believes.......

Negrodamus believes the one cl***** Isiah Rider took at UNLV was “lust for the white girls touch” instead of “business management”.

Negrodamus also believes buying 5 cars and 5 houses at 25 isn’t smart financially. Considering your playing career is too 33 on average and the expectancy of life give or take is 65-70!

  9. JAD

    What a loser.

  15. Southern Belle 225

SMH at his *****ery….:( If he’s driving a stolen car, I will go ahead and *****ume that he is broke or damn near. What I want to know is, when you are making NBA change and you retire or whatever, how in the hell do you wind up broke? How is paying for a house and a couple of vehicles in full not the VERY first thing you do when you get that kind of change? Unless you or M.J. or somebody great, you know your time is limited so I would think that stacking your change and getting ***** in order is the first thing you would do. ***** heads!

  16. I'm Just Me

Ihave no idea who he is nor do i care. It is being shown he is not above the law so oh well.

  17. Brooklyn, Stand UP!

“Black people”. Please help each other!!

    _____________________________________________________

we use to tell dude he needed to shake the spot back in the day

  21. Ugly in Los Angeles

Damn! Fam was a nice baller in college and early in his NBA years. If he didn’t have the distractions, he could have had a great career. Hope it works out for him.

  22. Kym G

Dog fighting FOR Money… Buying over 3-10 large Guns & sh*t….Selling *****E. being a PiMP. I mean once again it goes to the fact that Entertianeers in general can’t seem to find anything better to do than get in trouble… Don’t you have enough money already.. let’s make a job tryiny to maintain that

  23. Detroiter4Life

This is truly a sad case! Like a wise black man once told me you can be poor and have self respect but if you have no self respect than even with money you’re just a ninja with money.

  24. Let's Be Honest

    The ignorance continues…

  25. memchee

    damn shame……

I remember his moms came onto the court during an NBA game to make him leave the court after he was ejected from the game, cuz he was refusing to get off the court.

He was a very talented player, but always caused trouble.

  26. He is my favour. That’s so wonderful.he has my whole-hearted support.I love him .I saw him always dating some sexy play girls in millonaire dating site”W e a l t h y L o v i n g . c o m”.I am wondering whether he has searched his true love in this site ?Dose he really has a new baby with a young sexy girl?

  27. lmao damn shame do they all invest in drugs. they either sell them or use them smh

  28. Ghost

Well if black folk would stop WHORING their kids to be basketball or football players no matter what and letting them get away with whatever.

We might not have this issue. Guys like him wouldn’t do this mess if people would get in their faces and tell them to cut that crap out.

And speaking out doesn’t start when he’s in the NBA, it’s STARTS at home before they play any sport.

  29. 94612 - Oakland, CA

This dude is so game goofy….Alameda’s Finest.

  30. Bossip Bully

    @brooklyn stand up

Why is the whole Race needing help have anything to do with the actions of just one dumb ***** *****head. ***** J.R. Rider he was a bum in real life and on the video games so he got in a car that looked like his car and tried to get away from the cops when they got behind him i guess hes broke and needs three hots and a cot..
