Oh well. If he would have paid his child support, he wouldn’t have gone to jail and subsequently flipped out needing to be restrained. He was probably experiencing withdrawal from drugs.

I hope they get to the bottom of this. It does sound kinda suspect that he suddenly died after being in restraints.

It sounds more like he was going through some kind of withdrawal. Why would be hallucinating and need restraints? Before you can assume the restraints has something to do with his death you have to find out what was going on with him to need restraining. He was on drug and they were coming out of his body.

Worked in a prison many years and sh*t do happen but in this case from the time he was brought in the jail, no matter what they had to do with him (because he was a high profile person) I see them doing it in compliance hopefully there was is a tape of what took place while this was happening.This sounds more like his body couldnt go anymore and the panic attack was too much. bet his autopsy come back with some enlarged heart sh*t, hardened arteries, traces of ..

we all know when you are of color that you have to dot all your i’s and cross all your t’s to avoid any interaction with the police that could possibly escalate to them using physical force.

paying his child support, could have help to prevent this-I’m certain that he received warnings that this would happen if he didn’t meet his financial obligation. I’m not justifying what happened to him, but it’s no secret that the police will use any infraction on our part as an excuse to commence to whoopin our a$$

I go above and beyond to be a law-abiding citizen-insurance correct, license correct, etc because if and when the time comes that something happens to me, I’ll have a clean record.

I was MIA for a while and did not even hear about this. This is a lot for the family. I wish the the best and I hope no foul play was involved.

Sounds like the law beat another brother to death. You know, I have to say this. So much of the time you see brothers devoting all of their energies into putting Black women down and holding other women up. It’s seems like having the ability to date and marry white women is the only achievment of the Civil Rights struggle that they are grateful for. That’t cool if that’s your thing, I’ve enjoyed the swirl a few times myself. But they have ignored a lot of issues that continue to plague and threaten their own lives. The police beat and kill as many black folks today as they did a hundred years ago. I believe if Black men would stand up for themselves and demand true and lasting protection and equality instead of constantly blaming and putting black women down, they would not only experience true freedom, but they would really learn that manhood is not about how many different kinds of ladies you can lay up with, but about how well you value, protect, and promote yourselves and your own.

My heart really goes out to the Levert family. Blessed with musical talent but cursed with the death of two sons in a year…. Damn!

Many people are assuming he didn’t pay child support — we just don’t know. If the person paying child support has a change in income, the case goes back into court to change the amount to be paid in child support. Hopefully, the lawyer and the courts have done the paperwork so that the police don’t get the warrants to pick the person up. Child support is a court order. If it is before the courts, there is a period where the support may be held up. Yes, there are many men who don’t pay child support and I ain’t hardly defending them. But don’t jump to conclusions, there are many screw ups with the courts and municipalities. Also, some men will pay “off the books” and don’t understand that all monies must go through the court! This is a tragic situation. My heart goes out to the family.
