I feel like a chick that isn’t rich herself shouldn’t necessarily be trying to land a rich man just so she can live it up off his hard work. I do agree that LisaRaye came across as petty (since I personnally could NOT go into a store with $13000 and come out with just ONE purse and ONE pair of shoes-I just wasn’t raised that way). BUT…I’ve been in the type of relationship that you described-a caring, loyal, protective, and morally grounded man…and I WAITED and tried to help him step up and take control of his finances and bills…and although everything else was going fine, we ended up arguing and bickering about MONEY, so, finances are an important part of a relationship, more than just icing…truth be told what woman (or man for that matter) wants someone that can’t be able to provide…at least HELP provide. He bought some seedy hotels, where the pimps and prostitutes did business, and was later murdered by his much-younger girlfriend because she wanted his money. Well,it is true that he worked at a gas station when we got together.I was in college for social work at the time also.When I told my friends I wanted to be with him, some even laughed in my face telling me I could do alot better. Well I’ve never been the type to listen to other people anyway.The thing is ,I knew he wasn’t lazy and that he was ambitious.In the beginning of our marriage we did struggle,but we both had a plan in place.We decided that for 5 years we would sacrifice our wants and just concentrate on saving and focusing on needs.Besides,with children,you have to plan things.The struggles paid off-my husband and I own African markets and we’re also landlords.We have been able to send 5 of our children to colleges of their choice and have 3 more to send. Men with money did come to my parents house saying they wanted to marry me but money doesn’t move me like that.I gotta want the man for real.I’m not jumping through hoops for no one just because of money-only prostitutes let money motivate them.The sad thing is those same friends that laughed at me are now in their early and late 40′s still talking about men ain’t s&it and going to clubs looking for something they will never have-just burnt out living in the past.

Well having been married for a long time, I agree that if she has money and is used to having money it doesn’t make her a gold digger, ho, or prostitute to want her mate to have money.
First of all it will make the marriage less stressful. Example: He is making 30K a year and you making 230K a year, the man is the head of the family and therefore should be the dominant one. You should see how quick divorce comes when the man doesn’t feel like a man because you are making more than him. Not every man but a lot of men so like I said it is less stressful.
Second Lisa Raye is not in her 20′s so the man that she marries will most likely be her age should already be stable in his career.
Since she didn’t say that this is the only thing she looks for then you can’t call her materialistic or shallow because that was just one of the qualities but a really important one to her.
