Whoopi Goldberg discusses her make-up regime in Jet magazine:
“It takes six minutes for makeup. It really does. The best thing about me is I don’t have to look like anything. I don’t have to do the makeup, the eyelashes, and the hair. I am not the glam queen. So if I have a little weight on my backside, it’s OK, because it’s just Whoopi.”
We actually commend Whoopi for never getting caught up in all the Hollyweird knifed-up superficial-isms. Good for her.

she’s been the black womens image in america the first day she stepped upon the comedy circuit. the darkskinned pickanny. her story prolific, captivating, is she what grandmothers are suppose to be like? my grandmother can’t stand her, but me i’m sympathetic to those who come off the pipe and fix, well not fix but make better their appearence. peep ol bugs in the wire. he came up whoopi she needs to get outta the funk, i feel she still in the funk. that show is so bugged. black women are nothing like them two. it be sad.

Whoopi is not the prettiest, but I admire what she does. It’s about her career as an actress and host. She could care less about all the makeup and stuff. I don’t think that means she rather portray herself as being ugly than glam. I think she’s just being herself. She never looks “non presentable” she’s just not glammed up.
Whoopi may not be the most beuatifulest thing in this world, but you gotta give it up to her. She’s realer than most!!

She could get it good, if I was into that.

Whoopi gets MUCHO respect from me. If you are stuck on her looks then you are SHALLOW. I salute her. Although she does not have that “typical hollywood beauty” she has still managed to carve out a very successful path for herself.

I think Whoopi looks just fine. I wish I felt comfortable in my own skin. but no, I put on the makeup and lipstick every morning. The guys say I don’t need it, but I like it.
Vanessa Williams’ photo on Ebony is has had a bit of digital editing. Her skin is too smooth, but she’s still looks good.
Whoopi has remained a strong, driving force in her field and needs no one’s validation to know who she is. She made it okay to have locs, black lips, (she’s smokes. Yeah, the green too.) and a not sexy at all persona and is still able to land gigs. Living proof that sex isn’t the only thing that sells. Talents still has a place somewhere. A true Manhattan girl to the core. Luv you Whoopi.
PS- Maybe I’m crazy, but I do think that Whoopi is very sexy. In a ‘head-held-high’ kinda way.

Speaking of real, Ms. Williams looks nothing like this in real life. I’ve seen that face and skin…not so smooth and flawless. Photoshop does wonders, doesn’t it?

I saw her speak a few weeks ago about how Hollywood told her she was unattractive, but it didn’t really phase her b/c she always knew that she had a man back at home & that she was receiving attention back at home from men. She’s right- everyone is different. Everyone’s relationship does not have to be on front street. At the end of the day, if you & your significant other think you’re beautiful (sometimes you may have to even ignore your significant other’s opinion), who cares what everyone else thinks? I’m not saying that I agree with everything Whoopi says/does, but on the rare chance I get to catch “The View”, I love her commentary. I have a better appreciation for her after hearing her opinions on the show. Whoopi and Vanessa are both good in their own ways.
If you ever have the chance to see her in person, you will be surprised at the beauty of this woman. The most perfect skin I’ve ever seen, and her spirit is one of the most beautiful – you can tell this after just saying hello to her on the street. Don’t hate on her!

Vanessa is the shizz, a little Botox or not, can’t knock her talent. I still remember wathching her win Miss America. I believe I shed a tear when she won and when they took her crown away, I shed another tear. Now that she’s back on top and STILL in the business 20+ years later…she is making it rain on them hoes.
We’re so used to seeing Whoopi natural that I think she’d probably look weird all glammed up. Vanessa’s pic is drastically airbrushed because all of her crows feet/wrinkles have been erased and she looks like a 25yr old, when in reality, in untouched pics, she looks middle-aged.
I agree. Whoopi and Vanessa are old as hell, but they can still run over these wanna youngsters any day of the week. It’s called class and sophistication, ladies and gentlemen. Vanessa is one of my idols because she stood strong when anyone else would have broke down. Whoopi has never compromised herself and people love her for that.

I see NOTHING UGLY about whoopi. She may not fit into your idea of beauty, but she surely isn’t ugly. And for someone that wears no makeup, she has great skin and she looks good without makeup.
If Black people set the standards for beauty, then it would be different.

#1.. Take advantage of the education and any grants that we are entitled to receive.. More than half of black males drop out of high school.. THAT ISN’T the fault of racism, but OURS..
I agree race plays a role in the justice system. But many black males shouldn’t even be in that position if they would stop selling drugs and running around with fucking guns.

Whoopi is just Whoopi. I guess people haven’t checked out the View but she can hold her own on that show of limit minded twits. Whoopi is black, nappy,intelligent, wity and real. Hate her or love her, but she is who she is and no one can change that.

It is refreshing to read so many posts supporting Whoopi’s natural look. Usually are seeing comments about how so and so needs to step up her make up game or put some on. When did we adopt the traditional white mind set that a woman was put together unless she was painted? Black women used to only where make up on special occassions and let the natural beauty flow at all other times. Who decided that we have to roll outta bed fully made with the mascara laying right next to the snooze button?

Whoopi Goldberg found success in Hollywood even though she did not fit the typical Hollywood mode for women. In Hollywood where beautiful women are a dime a dozen, and many times movie directors etc. are not checking for black actresses of any type, Whoopi manange to land movie roles across a broad spectrum, not just sterotypes. She was the second black woman to win an Oscar, for her supporting role in the movie “Ghost”. She is the only woman who has host the the Academy Awards, and I think she also won a Tony on broadway too. Whoopi is smart, intelligent and she can get ghetto on you too!! Whoopi is all that and more!
Whoopi also has won an Emmy, a Grammy a Daytime Emmy, 2 Golden Globes and 2 Saturn Awards. Go Whoopi!!

There is nothing ugly about Whoopi, she just has a phenotype not associated with being beautiful in the United States. Her features are broad and her skin is dark, but she’s still and has always been beautiful both in and out.
