White Republican Congressman Shouts “You Lie” During Obama Healthcare Speech

During a nationally televised speech on healthcare last night, Republican congressman Joe Wilson from South Carolina shouted “You Lie” at President Barack Obama. Some members of Congress gave him “boos” or a cleaned up “Ho Sit Down.”

Some white folks were giving Obama heat last week because the President wanted to encourage school kids to be more responsible via a short video that was to be shown in schools across the country. We at Bossip must ask, for real-for real, is Obama given the “normal” Presidential treatment? With the economy improving, what do these fu*ks want?

I think you know the answer to that. No one ever did that when Bush, Clinton or anyone before him was speaking. That is a daxn shame and that man needs to be taken out of his position. Like he was just so overwhelmed with anger! Please! That man should have looked at the blackberry or held up bills like they alldo when they are not feeling what is being said. I am so disgusted with this. I really am. But it just shows you they respect the person and not the position. @Tony, I agree that we should all critically think and be intellectually independent, but the issue is whether the response was proper for the forum. In fact it wasn’t, based on the rules of the Congress which prohibit such outbursts during speeches by the President. Additionally, the congressman was proven to be the “liar” because the bills circulating DO NOT” call for coverage of illegal aliens.

He’s doing what he can to improve the country. When you’re Mr. Pres, ya gonna get some haters. So far, the economy is going up, the stock market has improved (i believe) 60%, which is better than it was last year and so forth. Its gonna be tough for him because of his ethnicity. But in the end, when the job is done, he’ll be among the white “heroes” of America to improve the quality of life for everyone in the US.

yes I do have health insurance I work for one of the biggest insurance companies there is. Yes my insurance is adequate but its not cheap and I work for the company.

The problem is, and I think you mentioned it in an earlier post, that people don’t want to take responsibility for their own health, and they undervalue/devalue themselves.

The congressmans’s outburst was certainly disrespectful and uncalled for. Even conservatives are saying that. I’m sure he’ll be reprimanded somehow, but he won’t be removed from office.
Regarding the school speech issue. I think people had a right to be concerned at the beginning(especially if they don’t believe in Obama’s politics). The end result of the speech (after revisions were made) was harmless and encouraging so I don’t know why anyone would still have a problem with it.
And is Obama being given the “normal” presidential treatment? I think he is. He’s under scruitiny, for sure. But I don’t believe it’s any more scruitiny than a president taking over in an unstable economic climate has had. Only one party can win the election. That means they’ll be at least one party that’s not happy with the outcome. That’s nothing new. All the president can do is his best and what he believes is right for the country and time will tell how the story ends.

Actually man the military isn’t for everyone. It just doesn’t take anybody off the street. Some branches don’t have as strict of guidelines as others but it does take a certain amount of competency to do the many jobs there are in the military. They aren’t just going let some kid off the street be responsible for a $5 million dollar aircraft or be responsible for the lives of 10,000 people. It takes training and experience. Furthermore it’s not that people join the military because they are lacking something but maybe the have something that others don’t have. It isn’t for everyone and I’m not advocating for it but you can’t cl*****ify over 300,000 people as being barbaric neanderthals. I hope you know in order to be an officer in the military you at least need a college degree along with your military training. There are new guidelines now for the enlisted force to have degrees in order to get promoted to senior ranks. I’ll end my soapbox moment with this. I can honestly say that this is the one of the most recession proof jobs there is in the world. I’m getting paid right now to BLOG with you. It not that bad.

I know you didnt ask me but in my opinion, staying healthy is simple. Eat as much raw and organic as you can and stay away from meat. Raw as in raw vegetables. Any vegetables cooked are dead and serve you very little nutrients. If the body is ACIDIC you are suseptible to dis-ease. If the body is alkaline and balanced, you will never get sick. I have health care, and I don’t see a point in moving to a public healthcare system in my case. We have preventative coverage, and the premiums are pretty reasonable. Therefore, I haven’t taken a great interest in this whole healthcare debate. However, I do believe that people w/o healthcare should be able to receive adequate medical treatment, just like me, so I do believe a universal healthcare plan would benefit a lot of people. What is the “meat” of this healthcare plan?

A lot of stuff that doctors do, other trained professionals can be trained to do also.

Dr Funk, I was want to give you props for using this forum to actually state an intelligent opinion but healthcare. I do however disagree with you…I do believe it will lower cost over the long term,by way of simple market competition. Having a low cost public option will force to either adjust their prices in order to compete, or increase the quality of care they provide.
As far as illegal aliens are concerned, the bill does not need to require a provider to ask a person’s citizenship status, because patients are screened for things like that by the insurance companies when they apply for insurance and by the hospital administrative staff before they ever lay eyes on a provider. The only time a patient would byp***** hospital screening is if they enter the E.R, in which case a provider would have to ensure that they are not in any type of life threatening condition.The healthcare system we have now requires the exact same thing in regards to illegal aliens.
Now, as far as how much it cost..I do know from working for both a hospital and an insurance company that their is tons of wasteful spending…which is why the healthcare and insurance agencies are some of the most lucrative industries. If that spending is curbed to to finance the public option and the consumers premiums are used for additional funding. It quite possibly could diminish the cost incurred by the U.S. citizens. I can’t say that for sure because I am not an economist, but if we do incure some cost as a public, I personally am fine with that…people need health care and that is more important to me than the few dollars that might come out of my pocket each year.

They had no insurance but the hospital served them and now this hospital(name withheld) is over $100 million in the red because those patients received services without paying a dime. Our government has a poor Medicaid system, social security is flawed, so why would you want big government coming in to take over your healthcare. Imagine having a m***** in your chest and the government tells you to wait 8 months for your appt. Our government does nothing in a timely fashion.

I used to work as a financial counselor at a hospital, and I wanted to add that this is probably not the only reason why your hospital is in the red. A lot of times the physicians themselves can drive up health care costs by ordering unnecessary services, tests, exams, and procedures that the insurance companies fail to pay for due to medical necessity. Your friends are correct, the time is always now for investing in your future. Which is what you would be doing.
First off, YOU have to decide how much you can afford, how long you intend to stay there, etc.
Once you have decided on that YOU need to pull your own credit report. It doesn’t have to be perfect but it may (will) require you to put some money down.
There are sooooo many grants out there. They mostly favor single mothers and the poor (which is defined diffferently depending on the state). A good realtor will direct you to some 1st time Homeowner’s cl*****es because this can help to qualify you for a loan.

HUD and most banks have great pamphlets on first-time home ownership including tips on financing options(basically, FHA or conventional i.e. banks). FHA has the best rates, however, there are some restriction.Conventional gives you more flexibility. Also, it’s a good time to buy b/c of the first-time buyer credit of $8,000. In terms of grants, simply Google “first-time home buyer grants” and you should get some info. Lastly, but not least, go the MSN’s Money page and follow the links until you reach the homeownership/financing section. It is excellent.

HUD and most banks have great pamphlets on first-time home ownership including tips on financing options(basically, FHA or conventional i.e. banks). FHA has the best rates, however, there are some restriction.Conventional gives you more flexibility. Also, it’s a good time to buy b/c of the first-time buyer credit of $8,000. In terms of grants, simply Google “first-time home buyer grants” and you should get some info. Lastly, but not least, go the MSN’s Money page and follow the links until you reach the homeownership/financing section. It is excellent.

The only thing bad about it, is the wait time for appointments and to get attention. Surgeries are an even longer delay. My grandad had eye surgery, cost him zero. Just made n appointment and wait some months. If its a rare or extreme difficult surgery then they tend to charge. America has some of the best doctors and equipment so none of that should be a problem either. Want some facts.
I had asthma in NY. Cost me $2000 US because i had no insurance. Was only in NY for like a month so far. A plane ticket to trinidad is $700 US and can even be $300 depending on the month. The asthma spray that i neededed in trinidad (the mask to the tank thing)……its fckn free. I would have $1400US to burn if i just took my ***** back home. Instead he gave me fluid and 3 chest X-rays when i diagnosed myself. I had it since i was a kid, i know wtf i need.

Price to get in repaid in US…About $1000US
Price in TT…about $1500 for a cheap job and about $2000 to $2500TT…how much is that in US? About $400-$420.

Actually yes. In Louisiana a pretty decent house is from $80K -$150k. If you get into the $250K range your house is either really new and decent size or really really big.

Out here, you can pretty much name your price. The market is pretty bad, but the thing is you buy an undervalued property, collect your payments plus deposits, and along with your tax credits, your payment for a mortgage (if you don’t buy the bldg outright, the mortgage should only be 25% of what you bring in from rental payments). NEVER have a mortgage where you owe all the rental income to the mortgage company. I always leave room, so I can use forextra cash flow, if needed.
For instance, if a commercial property went for $60K, with equity already in it. You would get some business tax credits , along with tax credits and grants to fix up property. You wpuld make your money back in 2-5 years, max. ONly if you buy property BELOW appraised or current value. It has got to be a win on all the taxes, credits, grants before you commit to anything, out here you can pretty much name your pric, it;s damn near a ghost town out here…I;m not mad though, one thing about real estate, it always comes back…

You’re right about that one. In California,(especially) Los Angeles and surrounding cities, most mortgage lenders are demanding 20 to 30 (and sometimes) 40% down. Those are both good questions. I can’t speak for anybody else, but I haven’t forgotten at all. One version of the bill (I believe there are 4?) was up on line–the 1,000 page one to which you refer. But it was not very well publicized to the population at large.
Since this is an issue that matters to me (I’m a future doctor), I dedicated a weekend to reading it. lol it’s long. And there were parts that were very ambiguous or that I flat-out disagreed with. There were also things (tort reform) that I wanted to see, but didn’t.
I’m not an Obama “Kool-Aid Drinker,” but I did support his candidacy and continue to support his presidency. I think health care reform is long overdue, and what better time than now to address the issue.
You’re right though, a lot of peons do refer to “free” health care, which *****es me off. I’ve traveled to many countries, and I feel that this “something for nothing” mentality is uniquely American. lol God bless us

This doesn’t surprise me at all. Both Republican and Democratic pundits are saying that this level of disrespect during a presidential address is unheard of. I find it galling that this “congressman” could have thought his outburst was appropriate. The look on Pelosi’s face said it all — if looks could kill, he would already be six feet under.
Last night’s abysmally poor display was emblematic of a much troubling issue, IMHO. The tenor of opposition to President Obama’s policies/proposals has taken on an uglier, angrier face that many believe has little to do with policy, or even politics, for that matter. Some of the recent town hall meetings resembled lynching parties, and the accusations lobbed at Obama – such as the comparison of him to Hitler – are beyond appalling and offensive. I don’t know where we’re headed, but we’re becoming increasingly polarized.
And if any violence is taken against a certain individual, the aftermath will make Nat Turner’s rebellion look like a schoolyard fight.

WELL, It depends on where you live, Donte…FOR EXAMPLE:
Louisiana uses a millage system based on 10% of the *****essed value of the home. The millage values are different by parish.
So let’s see, in Bossier I *think* the millage is 83. So that means that roughly 10% of 200K is 20K. There’s a $7,500 homestead exemption so that is 12,500. A millage amount is 1/1000 times the millage value. So take 12,500*83/1000 = $1037.50 <== That's your property tax for the YEAR.
I think I paid like 1500 for the year last year, though…

Some call Joe Wilson a great statesman, and are even proud of his “Shout Out”, so lets see, he says, he was told by the Republican leadership to apologize (he did not realize the magnitude of his mistake), he then gives his weak “not for reals” apology, but then goes on to those “Commentator Talk Shows” and basically says he real was not wrong and plays the victim card and calls for people to send in for money to support him for re-election. Had he kept quiet after his apology, that might have been the end of it but now that people know he lied about the apology the story will continue, until he is out of a job and the funny thing is, he does not see it coming. This summer has been rough for his beleaguered political party. At least he did not end up on the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: *****emblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC).
