  • iluvprada

    Good job Alicia.

    I second that!

  • Raven

    Umm, why do these philanthropically-prone celebs continue to ask us Americans (which IS a country) to donate to or know more about Africa (which is NOT a country)?

    Just sayin’…

  • LB

    yall a little late, its already up to view and download in full for FREE at http://www.AliciaInAfrica.com

  • Don’t mind me

    She is beautiful and real and very talent and rare

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E3oIbO0AWE awake

    @Raven

    I think it’s because Africa is a continent and the cradle of Civilization….

    Also, aren’t we all related as children of the Creator and a part of the human race?

    The parts of the Idol special I caught showed people suffering in New Orleans, the Appalachian (did I spell that right?) Mountains, and different countries in Africa. I think we have a moral obligation as human beings to help those who are suffering on this planet – just my two cents.

  • da darkness

    man the dirt roads of america is some places that need help. Africa got mega cribs with helicopter pads on the roofs, america don’t get it effed up. theres alot of cream in Africa it’s not all bush and shanty towns. trust. the national geographic, cnn, etc.. ain’t giving the whole story.

  • bree

    @ Lauren

    thank you!..we have beautiful weather in NY today..is Philly sunny?

  • JAD

    I would like to see this. I have always liked Alicia!

  • bree

    @ Raven..

    Americans are not a country, they are people who are a part of a country.

    Just sayin’..

  • ms meca

    i love alicia no homo

  • Lauren

    awake

    @Lauren

    I caught bits and pieces of it. I did, however, see the whole Alicia Keys part and it brought tears to my eyes.

    ____________________________________________________

    Totally, a lot of it was like that, my daughter kept looking at me saying MOM, U CRYING>!?!!?! I’m like no no mommy is just happy….lol But yea the performances were awesome too, Mariah did her Thang!

  • valenne

    alicia is going to make me a stan for the firsttime in my life if she contimues like that! What a beautiful heart!

  • valenne

    the occidental companies are killing th buschman in South Africa because they lived in the wide lands full of diamonds!

    They are controlling most african countries because we have everything they need : oil, diamond, goals, food etc… They have deported our brothers and sisters and enslaved us and they still control us! They owe use all their wealth!

  • rena

    OMG!!!!! I saw some of her photos, of course not naked, on a tall dating site Tallkiss.com, where many tall models, tall sportsmen and tall admirers flirting.

  • Southern Belle 225

    @Lauren…girl i dvr’d it so i will have to watch….

    Love me some A-Keys. I heard on the radio this morning that she and the Krucial Keys guy is engaged.

  • Lauren

    @ Ms. Belle, yea the show was long but it was really good

  • valenne

    So Alicia is engaged! Damn she knows how to keep a secret! Good for her!

  • Raven

    @bree LOL, that’s what I meant. :D

  • Raven

    @valenne

    Umm, I’m not ignorant.

    I’d actually like to know which country IN African Alicia was in rather than know about Africa as if it’s all one goddamn country with the same overall language, customs, ethnic/racial make-up, religion, etc.

    Especially since the entire continent does NOT suffer the same pandemic levels of AIDS, poverty, or malnutrition.

  • Raven

    @Raven

    “…in *Africa*…”

    @awake @valenne

    Oh, and I guess I should’ve put a disclaimer: “sarcasm.”

    But thanks for letting me know that Africa is my motherland and the “cradle of civilization”!!!!!

    xoxo

  • bree

    @ Lauren

    unfortunately , it will be short lived..we have a rainy forecast for the weekend…womp*womp*..i dont know what is up with this spring, it has been so bleek.

  • valenne

    lol

    ah oki

    Yes i don;t know where she was but i would find out!

    But, all africa is devatated by HIV some more than others but all, just like in AMerica, black people have the highest rate of HIV too! I think we are not that blessed actually!

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E3oIbO0AWE awake

    @Raven

    My apologies… didn’t know you were being sarcastic.

  • bree

    @ Raven..

    LOL..i’m glad you were able to laugh, some people catch feelings quick

  • Raven

    @valenne

    LOL, are you disagreeing with me? Because:

    This: “Especially since the entire continent does NOT suffer the same pandemic levels of AIDS, poverty, or malnutrition.”

    Essentially =

    This: “But, all africa is devatated by HIV some more than others but all, just like in AMerica, black people have the highest rate of HIV too! I think we are not that blessed actually!”

    Anyway, I agree: Africa is devastated by HIV and AIDS in some countries more than others.

  • Raven

    @bree

    Well, I couldn’t help but laugh. My point does not come off as it should’ve because of my mistake. So, thanks for clarifying for me.

    @da darkness

    ITA. It’s easy for the media to draw up a simple picture of this “dark continent” as if it’s overflowing with tar-black babies with swollen bellies, stick-thin legs, and HIV running through their veins. Why doesn’t the media talk about WHY these children are suffering?

    And you better believe it’s PARTLY because those dictators are trying to keep up with the Joneses (Europeans, Americans) and have completely abandoned their people.

    Just look at New Orleans…

  • valenne

    i dont’ disagree with U. I agree with you . What i am saying is even if some countries suffer less than others, the average rate is still higher than in others continents! And we have to take the global picture! that’s it!

  • *starlight*

    Ilove her she is so beautiful u dont see any other black female going to africa to try and save these kids and we aint talking about OPRAH!!

  • I’m Just Me

    It is excellent what she is doing!!!

  • DA TRUFF HURTZ!!!

    OK I LOVE ALICA KEYS!

    BUT, I HAVE A $ERIOU$ QUE$TION…,

    I$ IT WRONG, $EEING THAT $HE WENT THERE TO HELP $TOP HIV/AIDS AND PROMOTE $AFE $EX… THAT THE FIR$T THING I THINK OF WHEN I $EE HER I$ $LIDING UP IT THAT RAW FOR A GOOD 45-50 MINS???

    I AM CLEAN & CLEAR BY THE WAY!

    JU$T WANT HER TO BE MY BABY MAMA!!!

  • that one girl

    I love alicia and charity work is charity work. But why do celebrities only go to south africa? south africa is one of the well off countries in africa.

  • rhodesgal

    the HIV rate in South Africa alone is quite shocking, especially in KZN, and i’m speaking as a person who comes from a family where half the people there are infected. this virus really is killing our nation, and its cool 2 see ppl like A Keys educating folks about it, coz i think that is definately 1 of the main reasons that this virus is spread along more black ppl, coz of lack of education among ppl in the rural areas of Africa.

  • Jani

    Any who Alicia Keys was in South Africa, speaking as an African from Zambia/Zimbabwe , no it is not taken by white, actually you find that its the dame presidents that have no knowledge of democracy, IE Mugabe from Zimbabwe even though the people have spoke he still wants to hang onto power. Ministers help themselves to the people’s money by paying for their wives to shop in the UK, America and everywhere else while the people suffer, they pay for the children to be educated in rich countries, while the people suffer, take holidays on the people money forgetting they are in that position to speak for us and represent us but some how forget because power gets to their heads and do nothing to change and make things better.

    Flip sake where in the world have you heard inflation at 100,000% while the world watches Mugabe is single handily bringing Zimbabwe to its knees, a beautiful county 2nd to South African now means nothing, while people suffer he still stand there hanging on wanting to still be president when frankly the people don’t want him.

  • Jani

    oh the Medication is there but its far to expensive for the people to afford or the clincs are far away for the people to get to. We in the first world take it for granted because we can take a cab, get a bus, train or a car and get to where we need without really worrying, In Africa things are really different. Thab Mbeki isn’t doing enough to allow the poor to get the meds they so desperately need, it is a shame

  • rhodesgal

    @ Jani

    the situation in Zim is quite devistating. have friends from there and the funny/sad thing is that even some of the more wealthier ppl r also suffering with things like water and power outages. wen they cut the water supply 4 weeks, u cant flush down ur crap, u cant shower or bath etc its very sad.

  • Yes.We.Can.2008!!!

    Alicia Keys is classy. The epitome of such.

    Black Queen.

  • Jani

    @ Rhodesgal, i have family in Zim and have been following the news every second and finally applaud Zambia who has stood up and said they are holding a summit to force the results to come out, There is no one untouched person rich or poor because there is no food in the shops, no oil nothing my aunty have to go the Botswana or South Africa for food shopping and my cousin came back from Zambia and got from my aunt 10,000,000 Zim dollar NOTE what a freaking joke.

    and yet some people on here want to talk about i’m forst to post, what the news and post things of substance. Sorry

  • Jani

    And please they are so many people that do such great work for HIV/AID just becasue A.keys is a celebrity she is the empitome of a black queen. Great on her but i do not agree that she some great, so many people no names give far much more of their lives and time daily to this cause.

  • LB

    Uh… This is hardly the only thing Alicia is involved in. She’s also involved in Frum Tha Ground Up and Teens In Motions. $1 from every ticket sold on her tours goes to T.I.M. They’re just not as publicized as Keep A Child Alive. So please with that, she does nothing HERE sh*t.

  • zozo

    I HATE IT WHEN THEY DONT STATE WHAT PART OF AFRICA. AFRICA IS NOT A COUNTRY …

  • Dina

    Does anyone remember Alicia referring to Africa as a Country?

  • Dina

    LOL, I know! How amazing that people don’t know their geography to that extent!

  • Zina {The original princess}

    She is so unselfish. A beautiful kind-hearted person. God Bless her.

  • Jani

    @ Singular, I totally agree that a celebrity will bring awareness i do not disagree with you on that, i just think its a bit much to say she is the empitome of a black queen purely because she is a celebrity like i said they are people that go unthanked for their tireless work, only when it comes to world Aids day or some day, comic relief, sport relief are they really recognised for their work yet in comes in a celebrity and they are lifted far above, i do not agree. I’m not saying she has no done anything good far from it, i just think people need to open their eyes a bit more.

    I also fail to understand why people half read posts and miss chunks out when responding accordingly, LB didn’t i say its good on her so why the comment on “she does nothing here SH**t” again you fail to either read or understand my post

    And yes ZOZO i to dislike that that almost everyone that talks about an African country will say in Africa as a whole as though its one country, lack of knowledge and bad habit and now its stuck,

  • LB

    @Jani

    my post was hardly directed towards you. sorry for the confusion.

  • Jani

    @ LB i do apologise

  • Lady Architect

    I’m happy with Alicia Keys. I cherish her music and performances that bring back the idea of R&B and acoustics. I like how she takes time to go over to Africa instead of just sending some money over the phone, saying she did something, but won’t touch any of them. I appreciate her for that and I agree with Jani that there are numbers of no celebrities that go over but don’t get recognized because they a re no celebs.

    Anyways Go Alicia and I can’t wait to see her next saturday!

  • da darkness

    @valenne don’t say nothing. you dumb. Africa is the worlds breadbasket. first, that is the home of the black nation, moreover their home. how does one(whites) come in and ones home and tell them when and how to eat from the pantry? question i’m sayin. stand up, taking responsibilty is the name of the game. yes people have gold, diamonds like it’s nothing, helicopter pads like whoa, it’s not all bush and trees, chic. its a big as continent, not country! US can be fit 4x. uhhh. eff, where are you?underground i know!

  • da darkness

    my thing is if celebs can’t do anything here in this tiny country, eff they can do over there? this puzzle piece here in the US is a much easier task to solve than that maze over there. im sayin

  • Lady Architect

    da darkness,

    I feel what you are saying but at the same time Oprah said it very well about how she has donated money in the US and people were not grateful for it. People in the US are too materialistic. Instead of Oprah buying food and things for babies and helping people get a good apartment they wanted her to buy them a fly car, or a mansion, fashionable clothes, etc. Over there people are very appreciative of whatever you give and will use it well.

  • valenne

    @ da drakness,

    i am sorry but you really ignorant.

    If you think that geopolitics is so easy. why you goverment is iN irak killing poor people over there! Maybe, the iraki can just ask US army to leave? Is that so simple?!!

  • valenne

    why are you black people still in the bottom of the barrel in America.

    Stand up and take responsability for your ignorance too?? Life is not that simple!

    After slavery, White people are still in our countries and they put corrupted people as president so they can control us! They have built a economical system that disadvantage us. msot african countries are independant (supposedly for 40 years). And we don’t want them, they create a war jsut like they are doing in Irak because they want our natural resources!

  • da darkness

    @valenne dem people in iraq are black and thats what whites do they kill. and kill anything nonwhite. we know this. in iraq its a holy war and in part population control. we know this. no jobs here in the states so you’ll be either in jail, or over in iraq. this US is a third world nation. but one must again stand. i have that as my only solution. stand.

    @Lady Architect

    if oprah wanted to she could help people in the s. chicago read her book club by buying the light bill. knowledge is power. she over there for politics and something i just can’t put my finger on but ima ponder on it and get back to ya k.

  • valenne

    @ da darkness,

    now we agree!

    But i believe in black people. Yesterday i have an interesting discussion with a historian and Balck people were controlling this world. egypt (black people) was an empire, Ethipia too, they were even controlling half of Europe. I think we are going to shine again soon, but you re right, it is time to WAKE UP!

  • valenne

    And seriously,

    i also think that Oprah is a generous person but she really could do much if she wanted. She don’t have kids, no husbands, no official family so i hope she plan to give money to bunch of charities!!

  • Lady Architect

    true I guess. I don’t know too much about S. Chicago never been there so you are actually giving me knowledge about that. You do have to agree though when you ask people what they would buy if they were given a million dollars what do they say here in the US…a lambo, a mansion, designer clothes and shoes, etc. without investing it or anything and be broke after 6months to a year.

  • Jani

    Least Oprah is doing something, giving these children something that will empower them EDUCATION

  • da darkness

    @valenne oh yeah no honey buns we so at the top here the US. Blacks are the everything here in this country. Do you see who the president will be. Do you see us owning franchises, sport teams, the streets. we are the grass-roots my dear. the soil. we all the nutritions, the orgin. never can be the bottom. ponder on that for the weekend. k
