The NY Post asks if the celebrity media is racist. We wonder, how can they pose a question to such an obvious fact?:

A top tabloid [says] that Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s wedding was played down by the weeklies because “African-Americans don’t sell covers.”

Of the big five celebrity glossies out midweek, only Us Weekly gave Beyoncé the top spot on the cover. Other magazines gave her second billing to the likes of Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston.

Even wedding photos make less money for black stars, says another source. “Eva Longoria can get $1 million for wedding photos, but without the expectation of cover sales, Beyoncé might have gotten as little as $250,000 if she had sold hers,” says a top editor.

We are sick of their racist bullsh*t. The fact that Beyonce and Jay-Z’s nuptials played second fiddle to that hapless stank heffah Britney Spears is ridiculous, but to get secong billing to that “Witch Hagar” looking washed up has-been Jennifer Aniston is just offensive.

We advise Jay-Z and Bey not sell one wedding pic to any of those racist-ass trash trailing mags unless it’s for top dollar – maybe they shouldn’t even sell them at all. Discuss

Jay-Z and Beyonce are married? WHAT? WHEN? LOL

  • justme

OMG get this dating site bull ish outa here!!!!^^^^

if they do choose to sell they should only cell to a good Magazine like People, since they were the first to announce the wedding license stuff

  • dubya

This should be filed under “who cares” because meanwhile, education disparity is at an all-time high and we are getting ready to graduate a group of african american high school seniors where low SATs and GPAs and skills are at an all time high.

  • http://www.myspace.com/msmeka2cute Mz_Magnificent1

Oh Jigga is already all over the racist media…I was actually reading his last interview with XXL and he touched on the topic of racism in the media.

I hope they sell their photos to Essence mag…that would be a goodlook.

  • He’s Presidential

Yeah BRITNEY did make the comment about Beyonce not being able to sing.. But newhoo I say stay away from those non black mags anywayyy.

  • iluvprada

It’s nobody’s business, but theirs! So I say…don’t share a damn thing! They got they own loot!

  • He’s Presidential

not necessarily about black people but just beyaki

  • http://@yahoo demita

i think they should make a small book picture book of their so called wedding and sell it to the people for 50.00. 100.00 for autographs 105.00 to add a pack of bubble gum. house of dereon gum

  • lil latte

what does it mean when some one writes *dead* in their comment?

  • donovan

Please! If black celebs don’t sell then they don’t sell. That’s not racist that’s just good business. When’s the last time you bought something because Beyonce was on the cover… I’ll wait. Beyonce doesn’t garner any interest into her personal life because she is a press bot, very beauty queen in her approach to the media, not a real person we care about and want to know every detail about. Britney Spears on the other hand let’s it all hang out people are addicted to her private life, so yes she does sell covers, and no beyonce does not.

  • bree

you donkeys..Jay & B’s wedding photos will not be sold to any outlet..the only way we will see it is if some1 leaks it

  • Donald R. King, posting as Bones Jordan

@ Chawawa in gravatar, lmao or very funny, like when a comedian kills his audience, you get it?

  • Donald R. King, posting as Bones Jordan

    @ Donovan, VERY GOOD POINT.

@ bree, doubtful, they want that cake just like you and me baby.

  • justme

    @ donovan

    Interesting thoughts, that makes sense

  • Don’t mind me

lol you lot are so easy to whined up. They didn’t want anyone up in their buisness

Besides they are boring Jay Z is interesting Bey has been the same since 8 years ago. Nothing new to report there

    Peope are getting bored

  • Kompton’s Kutie

Who don’t care about Black folks News?! The media hypes everything up in the first place, so when they do follow Black folks that’s when people will care.

*But at the same time I’m glad they don’t follow Black celebs every single moment, because this way all the White people will continue to look bad.

They don’t realize it but it’s keeping the White people down. And when they mess up for every little thing people lose respect.

Look at Paris, Brittany, Hillary, etc.

  • Lady Architect

    donovan,

I agree with you. IF you think about it how long has Jay and Bee been together..6years. The mainstream media can care less about their marriage because they basically lived as if they were married for years and honestly Bey is very overexposed. Not that I agree with Britt being on the cover, but it sells and mags are gonna put out what readers buy so they can make money. Besides that, if they put out the same covers about Bey that they do about Britt than black ppl would be mad saying that they use us for negativity. I say let them make the fools of their own, it doesn’t bother me. These black celebrities need to sell to mags like S2S, jet, essence, ebony, black enterprise, today’s black women, etc. to uplift our own instead of shooting for people because they put in the highest bid just to be on pg 15.

  • He’s Presidential

At Southern Belle they were on the cover of US Weekly. Normally white stars are on the cover of all them.. When something big happens. But I dont want to see bey or jay either I rather read about it online because in mags when Bey was on the cover in all the mags she always says the samething.. I’d rather read about Alicia, Jurnee and Halle etc

  • jogger

Isn’t Eva Longoria Mexican and her husband black? Didn’t they have a big castle wedding that they had talked about in interviews months prior and invited other celebs to… Didn’t Jay and B do some undercover small ‘don’t ask don’t tell wedding’?

  • Don’t mind me

Exactly theres only show much of that gurl you can see before you have seen it all before and lets face it she doesn’t interest you with her mentality or points of view because she doesn’t pocess such things.

Make her drop on her face though and that will be on the news lol

  • Kompton’s Kutie

    @jogger

True. But even when “the Others” do private, hush hush ceremonies, the media stalk them to try to get a pic.

  • Don’t mind me

If you put someone on the cover you have to atleast fill two pages of something interesting about them

I don’t enjoy the sound that comes out of rhi or beys mouths and thats my opinion.

  • http://@yahoo demita

jay-bey may have put it all an video cam to keep for the chilluns when they come

  • http://www.tajwashington.com Taj

DONOVAN makes a very good point. People want to feel as if they can empathize with celebrities who are going through things. Beyonce’s personality comes across as somewhat “mechanical”, and not necessarily genuine.

IF they choose to never show their wedding photos, good for them. You have to have something sacred and private in your life that is your very own.

  • Shavon Denise

I have been saying that about magazines and Hollywood in general forever. Look at the landscape of America though, they’re going to cater to the majority and to who they feel are the most important. Thats why you dont hear about Raven Simone, who is worth $300 mil, but you hear about that talentLESS Hanna Montana. TRAGIC

  • TROPICAL BREEZE

    @ TAJ AND DONOVAN

    GOOD POINT

  • pm

They are not hard up for money if they have an ego problem do like Oprah and make your own mag and put your face all over it.

  • Don’t mind me

    @ torpical breeze- pleasant name

    I agree

  • valenne

    again,

there are only 12 % of black people in this country. 36 millions of black and more than 170 Millions of White, why the media should focus on Black! We are a minority, if they ever have to put a black person on the cover, they are also going to put a white person. Just like Lebron james and Gisele.

Woman like Eva longoria or Jlo or even Beyonce in a way have been adopted by White America because they could pass for white woman! But you would not see Mary J blige on a cover of a white magazine!

  • http://urbanworldonline.com/ Think About It

The world does have racist people in it…but I don’t think that the price your pics sell for is racist. I think that J Lo or Angelina Jolie on a cover will sell more than Beyonce. Beyonce looks better than both…but statistically in the USA…there are less black people to buy the magazine that white people. With people like J lo…spanish people are very loyal and will buy the magazine because of that. I don’t see many black people reading things like People Magazine. We read Essence and Black Enterprise.

  • Don’t mind me

Lets face it Jay is not photogentic. It’s hard to see that close up and no expression he pulls helps.

  • valenne

In the case of beyonce wedding, i really don’t think that the media were trying to cover it because we had pictures of invitees, flowers, etc… so it is not like they did not care AT ALL!

Plus i see Beyonce on a cover of People magazine i think yesterday so i am not sure all this debate should include Beyonce!

  • intenzemocha

This was posted to spark a racial debate-nothing to debate blacks already know that we are considered second-class citizens what else is new? the only time we matter is when we are making someone else rich-

  • http://@yahoo demita

i need a f’kin good ass blunt and my man’s big fat hard ass d’ck

  • valenne

i mean, the media was trying to cover this event cause they were talking about it on TV too during the news!!!

  • STEFANY

WHY SHOULD THEY GET ANY DAMN PRESS WHEN THEY WON’T EVEN ADMIT THAT THEY’RE MARRIED…I THINK ALL MAGAZINES SHOULD JUST IGNORE THE HELL OUT OF THESE TWO.

  • Don’t mind me

Angelina is beautiful even when pregnant, without make up it’s her bone structure! Her height her poise Oh and even travelling around the world with kids saving other kids she looks good.

    I beg to differ

  • Don’t mind me

Yeeeeah ignore them. Ha ha that would freak them out lol

  • Lauren

Who cares? Racism will never end black people, its hidden and its obvious and we know it, stop crying about it and move on….. NEXT!

  • http://www.hiphopucit.com HIPHOPUCITdotcom

That is beyond ridiculous, I would suggest that they didnt sell them at all and Give them to some black publications which support them!

  • TROPICAL BREEZE

    @ Don’t mind me

    awe! thank you

    i agree with you

    love angelina 2

  • Darth Paul

Don’t buy those magazines, then. Easy as that.

  • Don’t mind me

Look @ what she is doing- others should be ashamed of themselves. She is out their in Africa in the heat making a difference. Give credit where credit is due.

  • Lauren

    @ Southern Belle-

However, I do think that they down play black

celebs. But we also don’t buy as many of those mags as our white counter parts so of course they are going to put white folks on the cover. They are trying to make money. DUH! Black people buy the majority of black mags so they mostly put black celebs on the cover. DUH!

    —————————————————-

Thank you ma! thats excatly what I’m sayin, like aren’t they selling to the COLOR of the majority of the people who buy those mags….I mean I might pick one up in the library but I’m NOT going to PURCHASE it! lol….

  • justme

    @Shavon Denise

u make a good point lol at the hanna montana joke

    and

@Valene u said it, i could never see MJB on the cover of Us weekly, its just the truth a shame buth still the truth

  • Reality

yall r missing the point…its not about bey and jay its about how alot of things go on in the black commmunity but the media mags who are supposed to report on any race celebrity is not giving black celebrities the time of day…but they will give other minorities such as mexican or hispanics the time of day…some ppl just cant realize mainstream society will always treat blacks like second class citizens…we dont get paid as much as they do even if we work the same job for the same company…and blacks should boycott mainstream mags

  • Lauren

    WHAT ABOUT

ESSENCE OR EBONY OR JET….SELL YOUR STUFF TO THEM! DON’T GIVE IT TO MONEY HUNGRY US WEEKLY OR TRASHY AS OK MAG…!

  • DH

They shouldn’t even worry about it…They should keep making their money, gaining power to make changes, & living their lives. Then they should make the necessary changes to prevent much of this segregation from happening. We also need to reach a day where you don’t have to cross over to certain media outlets to be considered mainstream.

  • Lauren

Black people need to support black people, I mean Diddy ass was crying because the white mags didn’t put his twins on their cover but ESSENCE had a whole 4 page spread of them, and they don’t get any recognition….SMDH!!

  • lil latte

You can’t beat racism by be a racist yourself…

  • Annie

    *Get your mind right.

  • http://Myspace.com/sybilblaize Sybil Blaize

Yup mos def racism. Beyonce is a mega star! iif this was some other black couple hm forget iit they wouldnt of even got mention in the mags! Sad but true

    (

  • Lady Architect

    valenne,

I agree about you saying that Beyonce, Eva, and Jlo get on those covers because they are close to white looking at times. If you ever notice when Jlo had that dark black hair she didn’t much media attention until she lighten that hair up and was wearing blonde. Beyonce you will never catch her on a cover with dark hair and the same with Eva or even Tyra. All of these stars of course look better with their natural darker hair IMO but they adopt the Eurpoean straight blonde hair so must really wanna be in these white mags. Either way they are not doing much sales and People will notice that with this new cover and they will probably premier a new cover immediately.

  • miss j

i think white people are just doing there thing! i mean its not like we have them all up in jet, essense, gospel today, sister2sister,…… the list goes on and on! they can’t have Ivory, or white interprise, or white people magazine, cuz that would raise hell! their just quietly doing what we are doing selling magazines to their own kind! its just that simple

  • keliss

Jay and Bee are not on the cover because they are not giving out any info. Their inner circle of family and friends aren’t revealing either. (Note to self, choosing your inner circle is very important.) Only bits and pieces have been allowed to leak. I’m sure they choose them theirselves. Trust if they wanted too, the could have any mag they want writing about their wedding. They choose not too. Beyonce has graced the cover of almost every white magazine possible. So, she is definitely accepted by mainstream media. Beyonce and Jay don’t frequent tabloids because the are hardworking, successful, rich, black folks that are not doing crazy things like Britney! Let Britney keep the tabloids. Jay and Bee are too distinguished.

  • Annie

    Jogger,

I co-sign what you said. Eva Longoria was talking about getting engaged, the marriage, and everything for a while. That built up interest. They flew out to France. They were not together for SIX years. There is no comparison. Beyonce and Jay-Z refuse to confirm that they are married. They had tight security. When they were about to get married EVERY media outlet was reporting on it. Did you forget that PEREZ HILTON was the first to scoop the marriage? People magazine covered the details up until Friday. However, NO ONE has any photos or enough info to make a full (and interesting) story out it. If there are no photos, I don’t care about it.

  • Lauren

Dijimon WAS Amistad, Russell Simmons DOES wear BLOOD DIAMONDS Jay-Z DOES look like Joe Camel…

There IS truth to all of that.

  • Lady Architect

I think black people should stop caring about people mag, ok mag, star, etc and subscribe to black enterprise, today’s black women, etc. so we can lift ourselves up instead of looking for the quickest gossip news.

  • I’m Just Me

    @ Laruen…True….True!!!

I HOPE THEY DON’T SELL THERE PICS….IT WASN’T A BIG DEAL BECAUSE THEY KEPT IT UNDER WRAPS..WHATEVER!!

  • Lovely One

Yall, some black entertainers have transcended and are not only accepted by EVERYONE, including whites. I find it very hard to believe that white people would not want to know about Beyonce’s wedding. I think the cover would sell. What’s next, is Halle gonna be offered $250K for her baby pic? I think NOT!

  • Lovely One

CORRECTED VERSION: Yall, some black entertainers have transcended and are accepted by EVERYONE, including whites

  • Just Sit and Be Pretty

TGIF! How is everyone on this beautiful and blessed morning??? My manager has already agreed to close the office a 2:00 est today so I will be off in a matter of hours. This is the best job ever! Puerto Rico here I come!!!!

  • He’s Presidential

Nothing about Beyonce and Jay Z are distinguished.. Beyonce is a robot she has no personality her only personality is Sasha when she is on stage. Besides that I have never heard her speak like Alicia, Rhianna, Jennifer H and even Kelly or Michelle.. I mean I have never heard her opinion about anything in all of her years on being in the public eye. She seems to give simple answers whenever she does magazine interviews. I mean besides being worth 54 million dollars who is this woman. Besides a go getter of money.

  • Lovely One

I dont know if its racist or not. Perhaps since Tameka & Usher couldnt get broke off for thier baby pics. But I still think Halle & Bey would sell.

  • He’s Presidential

JSABP I need your job are they a hiring??

  • Just Sit and Be Pretty

And the news here is what?!?! We all know that Hollyweird and the entertainment industry, including media, isn’t a level playing field.

@imposter…wow, did you get a memo that I apparently missed? I wish I was off in a couple of hours…and Puerto Rico is next weekend, since I know you’ll join me in counting down the days!!

  • Just Sit and Be Pretty

  • serene

    i agree w/ donovan

they been walking around like king n queen for years, plus they not eveb interesting. Bey is overexposed, and lacks personality to me.

anyways, bey wishes she was born latina…..so whateva

  • He’s Presidential

It was Hello.. But I’d rather see it in Essence or Ebony. Do a Michael go straight to the black mags.. I only read those mags when I’m about to check out I make sure I go to a long line and read that ish for free99

  • He’s Presidential

Oh is that the same girl who is from France or something. Who is like a college student.

  • Just Sit and Be Pretty

I HOPE THEY DON’T SELL THERE PICS….IT WASN’T A BIG DEAL BECAUSE THEY KEPT IT UNDER WRAPS..WHATEVER!!

    _________________________________________________

Exactly! They don’t want anyone seeing pics so why does it matter, I hate when people dig up dumb stuff for NO REASON whatsoever, I mean did Bey TRY to sell her wedding pics NO! So whats the fuss about?

  • Jojo

Were there not paparazzi camped out in front of Jay Z’s pad all day and night? Did Jay and B not do everything they could to make sure that the paps did NOT get a shot of them? It’s true, black covers don’t sell as well…but I think it’s because there are more white people than black people actually buying those mags!

Is Ebony going to put Britney Spears on their cover?? NO!! And would it sell? HELL NO.

  • valenne

i think we still need nea magazine!

It s just a question of representation. We don’t have the same needs in term of hair, skin care, we don’t have the same taste in term of foods etc..,

we don’t have the same issues so i don’t see the big deal. I can sometimes buy a “white magazine” but it s more for FASHION!

  • Tonia Johnson

Why is everyone so worried what Jay and Bee would have gotten for wedding pics, when there not even admitting to being married.. And why is it such a big deal?? They don’t want you to know, so why would you want to know?? but bet they want you to buy ther music and watch there movies though.. so over the both of them.. don’t want to hear anything else about this mystery wedding, upcoming records, or movies… move on with life, without those two… Camel face and horse breath… take that take that :-)

  • valenne

    *we need more magazines!

  • keliss

Everything about Beyonce is distinguished. She has dined with Presidents, Kings, Queens, and Princes. She has collaborated with legends like Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Bono, Tina Turner, to name a few. She has traveled the world over and have done things that few have done. She covered Sports Illustrated, Harpers Bazaar, Glamour, Better Homes and Garden, Vanity Fair, Elle, Seventeen,GQ, Spin, Ebony, Essence, Jet, Giant,Marie Claire, FHM, Maxim, Blender, Rollingstone, Self to name a few.

  • He’s Presidential

But I do like the way Ashlee Simpson and Pete Weinz announced their engagement to their fans.. I mean some people just say eff it tell him. They’ll shut up about rather than speculate.

  • http://Afo.net ella

Who are the most racist people on earth toward one another?

  • valenne

How hispanics are passing black people?!!

  • Sweet & Sassy

I can agree on that because I see those same sorry magazines at the checkout in stores and I refuse to thumb through them only because I’m so very tired of seeing skanky a$$ trailer park trash Britney Spears and her Jerry Springer issues on some of these covers….however I feel that if they would perhaps put more classy individuals on their covers they’d sell better….

  • Just Sit and Be Pretty

@10:16, you are not a master maniupulator, neither are you a spin doctor, so give it a rest. You are corney. What is it this time, oh, wait, you’re going to TRY to convince folks that it’s me playing this silly game with myself?!?! Whew, you don’t give up do you, guess you get an A for effort and an F for orginality. I think you tried this spin before…*wishing this rabid, foaming at the mouth stalker would get a life of their own*

  • valenne

i don’t really agree with we are hater that much!

White media make fun of Paris Hilton, britney spears and all their stars every time and we don’t call them racist!

White peopla have been causing allt he biggest war in this world against themselves!!!! So they are the biggest HATER in this world!

  • beautiful

LOL, this is funny. They are not on the covers because they are not sharing! Every mag would kill to be the one with their wedding pics. It is quite obvious that they have no intention of selling them. Do you all have any ideal how much Bee commands for birthday parties and private parties? Anyway, I would love for them to sit down with Ebony and invite them into their home for an interview one day in the future.

  • just saying

SORRY WHITE MAN I AM WORK RIGHT AS WE SPEAK AND I HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY AND DON’T BE SO THREATEN OK , IT COULD CAUSE YOU HEART PROMBLEM LIVING WITH SO MUCH HATE, ANYWAY YOU WILL NOT UPSET US ON HERE OUR BLACK BLOG SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL GIVE IT UP BY THE WAY LOVE YA!

  • valenne

white people don’t like each other. Spanish (from spain) don’t like french who don’t like italians, and who can stand germans!! should i go on?!!!

  • HOTSTUFF

I wouldn’t sell them at all!!! Keep them for my own keepsakes…

  • Chaka

They probably already made a deal with a publication. That’s why Solange and no one else is talking about it. Or they don’t want the publicity.

  • He’s Presidential

Okay but lyrically dont go there with Beyonce because her lyrics mean nothing but to shake her booty swing her lace front wig and go down low with it. She has yes shared a stage with Tina Turner, Sung w Luther on his song. And showed her scantily clad body on some of those magazines and what. All the interviews are still the same. I mean I jam BDay when its time to cut up a rug. But I do in no way look up to her as a someone with class. I like the Alicia Keys the Fantasias who can go to Africa and give their time. I like the entertainers who are selfless. Like Bono, Janet, Angelina, Oprah even Rhianna has a foundation.

  • Lisa

White people generally buy these types of magazines. It’s business. The editors will put celebs on the cover that appeal to the buyer. It’s not racist. How many White actresses appear on the cover of Essence yearly? Exactly.

  • He’s Presidential

    Ella?? Black People right!!

  • valenne

we black people were not that divided before white people come inject his tareism in us by segregating us if you remember LYNCH!

  • And…

Maybe when they actually confirm being married somebody will show genuine interest in the photos.

There’s not even a scandal around it. They got married on a roof w/15 people there. Come on.

I’m sure Bee looked how she looks when she performs or on the red carpet & Jay looks just as he does when he hosts parties.

*Do we really need to see pics? I vote no and who cares.

  • Marcia

This post isn’t true. I was at the store yesterday and Beyonce/Jay-Z’s wedding was on the cover of People, In Touch, and some other magazines. They would have been on more if they confirmed the marriage and the media had pictures of the wedding especially of beyonce in her wedding dress. The Post said that Beyonce wouldn’t get as much money as Eva Longoria because of her race, but the last time I checked Tony Parker was black.

  • miss j

    actually WHITE MAN is

right ……Isnt that the way we greet each other

and then complain when someone else beside black greet us that way …..

    he got a point

  • valenne

the only fact that we consider us as a race and only a race and that we feel that we should support any buffonery just because they are black is wrong! And white people don’t have problem not supporting something that is not right. But us black people think that because we black we all should feel the same, think the same and act the same! I am sorry, but by doing this, we will stick at the bottom of the barrel!

  • Lily

I’ll agree that the media is racist, but I bet if Beyonce/Jay-Z made their wedding known and they had pics, it would have gotten more press. I don’t agree that all black celebrities would get paid very little in comparison to whites. If Oprah got married, every single magazine would put her on the cover and she would get paid big $$$. When I was in Asia last year, her magazine was in every store that I went to and in the front.

  • you know

Everything you just said is something I’ve heard others say and i still don’t understand where you get it from. I’ve heard her, not read in a mag, give her opinion lots of times. She must like Janet Jackson come alive on stage and are more reserved and quiet in person. I don’t see anything wrong with that. Just because she isn’t loud and crazy like everyone else in her personal life and chooses to keep her private like PRIVATE doesnt’ mean she doesn’t have a personality. Perhaps you just don’t like her personality, which is fine.

  • Don’t mind me

    @Valenne- thats right.

  • Just_Wanna_Know

On one hand I believe this is true but then again, maybe Bey and Jay sabotage their own cover. Meaning, they won’t even acknowledge a wedding took place. How are you supposed to promote a magazine featuring someones wedding and the damn bride and groom deny it ever happend?

  • Don’t mind me

    OH and @ He’s Presidential

    So true.

  • valenne

however, i do think that we always have to defend our race when we are with other races. But within us, we need to be more self conscious!

  • you know

    NEWSFLASH…

Beyonce and Jay-Z have NEVER DENIED they are married and they have not CONFIRMED they are married. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck IT’S A DAMN DUCK. Why do they have to make an announcement about it? Common sense people.

  • Don’t mind me

    Ignorance!

Alot od black people think they have the right to be racist and don’t label it as so when it is what it is!

  • kwa

its true, white celebs sell a lot more.

If it were Britney Spears getting married there would have been a helicopter hovering the place and a miles worth of paparazzi just waiting for her to make one step out the door.

But really yall, do black celebs WANT the media watching their every move just waiting for them to slip up? We see how they be talkin bout Naomi Campbell on the news, imagine if they captured everything she did on a day to day basis! Let’s take this as a blessing that black people have to do something major in order to get worldwide scrutiny for it

  • valenne

but when a white girl say that she is sick of Paris Hilton, it is an opinion, but if a black person say that he is sick of Delishious, is Hate!!

  • Nesh Nesh

There could possibly be some validity to this because we are STILL living in a racist world. But if Bey/Jay are more concerned about who’ll get the highest bid for their pics, then the marriage it self than that speaks volume about their relationship. If I was a celebrity/had money in the bank already/married the man of my dreams; I would be concerned with how much I get for my wedding pics because it’s sentimental anyway. Peace everyone!!!

  • you know

    Don’t mind me

    Ignorance!

Alot od black people think they have the right to be racist and don’t label it as so when it is what it is!

Exactly^^^^^ and white ppl have been letting this ish pass. When was the last time a rapper was on CNN explaining why he used the N-word. But dogg had to. We use the N-word in a negative way to each other and a postive way but no one asks why and we are not expected to justify its use. WHY!?!??!

  • KD

    @ He’s Presidential

Ummm…Beyonce does have a foundation. It’s called the Survivor Foundation and was established after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. She and Kelly Rowland have a youth recreation center in Houston and last year, they had a 4 million dollar apartment complex built for the Hurricane victims. Plus, Beyonce plans on giving a portion of her proceeds she will make from “Cadillac Records” to the foundation in support of drug addicts.

But you have a good point. I would like to see her get involved in more AIDS causes.

  • KD

^^And I’m sure there is much more. It just doesn’t make headlines.

  • valenne

    lol you re right!!

    @ me myself and I,

Eva longoria is mexican just like salma ayek and she is not white!

As for JLO i don’t really know but i know puertorican, dominican etc discriminate the darkers one! the lighter you are and the better you are! but she is not white, she has strong features before the surgery of course!

Thank you! Jay and Bee invited 30 folks to the ceremony. That’s it. It was a serious private affair. It was intimate between husband and wife.

  • MANDDY

I have just seen PEOPLE MAGAZINE’s latest cover and beyonce is on it plus US WEEKLY. ISN’T PEOPLE THE ”WHITEST MAG IN AMERICA”. This has nothing to do with racism. There were NO PICTURES OF THE WEDDING. NOBODY LANDED THE EXCLUSIVE. How then would the other mags have made it a cover story if there were no pictures of the event to back it up. For their cover, PEOPLE scooped up an old picture of beyonce and so did US.

  • http://myspace.com/afiya00 Afiya

    I totally agree @ DJ

    They got what they wanted…PRIVACY.

    I don’t see a problem with that.

  • http://www.theblackactor.com/ Baby Please

Well, for one thing they are being so unnecessarily “secretive” about it. As I understand it, even up to this point, they still have not announced that they were even wed. I think no photos were released and the mags were not tipped off about the upcoming nuptuals… if they even took place. So, I think it’s not the same.

  • Racer X

How can they be called racist when they went to “Mission Impossible” extremes to hide the fact that they were or werent getting married. Even now, they don’t wear rings to symbolize their marriage, if there ever was one. I don’t get these two, they act as if they are the Taliban and don’t want anyone to know there status. Its crazy, they really need to get over themselves.

  • dee

How do you expect magazines to put a couple who have barely even admitted they’re together, let alone that they got married on the cover??? I’m sure B and J never even sat down to discuss selling their wedding photos…if they even got married. I’m still half believing cuz personally, I think its dumb as hell to get married in the middle of a tour. Only way they would have been on the cover was in some damn stock photo from whenever, and with the same info every other blog has, so what would have been the point of that?

  • you know

How many different organizations and foundations are you all who are criticising Beyonce for involved with. Not to say she shouldn’t but everybody should be giving back if you have been blessed.

    just saying

@you know when congratulated on the nupitals JAY-Z SAID HE DIDN’T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT THAT SOUNDS LIKE A DENIAL TO ME.

You are right. I just went and looked up the definition of denial and one of them was:

refusal to recognize or acknowledge. I was taking denial more as like they were denying it ever happened which they have not they just have not publicly confirmed that it did. But like my post earlier why should they have to? That’s their business. People get married everyday, rich or poor, celebriy or ordinary people. It’s a ceremony between those joining and God first and then their closest family and friends. I’m glad they kept it a secret and I hope they NEVER TELL. Even after the kids, lol.

  • Sanity

Of course white celebrities are going to sell more of anything than blacks. America is predominately white you idiots. I’m not black, so why would I wanna see some blacks on the cover of a magazine. All blacks do is cry all day about how unfairly they are treated. How often do you hear other ethnic groups complain? Not often. They just go about their business and leave the whining to the blacks. Its time for all the blacks to put up, shut up and get it the same way everyone else did. Though thats probably not going to happen is it. Ebonics isn’t a language. English is. Hahahaha

  • Don’t mind me

Whose going to fall for this? Whose going to let the above opinion trigger of their ignorance?

  • rlf

Beyonce is on the cover of People and US Weekly the two biggest magazines (just noticed something its only beyonce by her self on the covers no jayz no thugs on the cover lol) anyway i dont think it was a racist thing is just that the smaller magazines the ones that but beys story in the corner of the cover their not making as much money like people mag or us weekly so they have to go with what they no is gonna sell to make their money and not take any risk because lets face whens the last time youve seen a black female on a tabloid cover. But when they see how good her two covers are gonna sell they will come running believe it.

  • fat boy

who cares! let these white people and spanish people have their little mags. Black celebs should stop doing their mags anyway and just do black mags.

its f-ucked how we always report on j-lo on black sites..the white media loves spanish celebs! keep it black.

  • you know

^^^^Not me. I figured I let her/him come to the realization that they are on a black site and feel stupid about contradicting themselves.

  • dubya

I think many of the previous posters have said it better than I could ever had said it. So, I won’t re-invent the wheel. I will say this though:

Race baiting and complaining over non-crucial issues such as this is getting really, really OLD. We need to realize that white guilt and those that felt it are not going to be around that much longer and our complaints are going to start falling on deaf ears.

The white person of today does not have the patience to hear our complaints because unlike the white people of the blantant racist era, the landscape has changed. The white person of today has more likely than not sat in many classrooms with blacks. We now work together, live in the same neighborhoods, shop at the same places, watch the same shows. So I (being white) made it and you (being black) have not then you only have yourself to blame.

Also, the world is changing, the whole stuck in slavery mind-set is outdated. It’s no longer black and white. It’s asian too. And boy are asians a force to be reckoned with.

We now have people coming over to America from impoverished third world countries who have had it 10 million times worse than we ever have had it come here and make a productive lives for themselves–running rings around us as african americans.

So, we can continue to harp on these minute issues while the world moves on without and despite us.

  • valenne

    @ fat boi

i agree. Black people love JLO because she has Ass lol, like we black woman don’t have Ass. All those post about KIM k,Coco, but in the same time, we never have a post of Eva longoria who is married to a black man! So maybe Tony P is not american that why they don’t care???

Anyway, if you have a black blog, is to promote the black culture right?!!

  • dubya

correction. I am black, I’m just saying that this is how the white person of today views us. If i’m white and I sat in the same classroom as a black student and he can’t make it then he has no one else to blam but himself.

  • cns

I agree, but with all of these wonderful experiences in her life she still has nothing interesting to say. She is a bore.

  • marla williams

IF they do sell to a mag I HOPE a BLACK MAG gets the “only pictures”…… or they can put together a Wedding day Photo album for there fans and sell it for $59.99 and make all the money to keep for themselves and fix all the MEDIA!!….

  • valenne

if they ever have to sell to a magazine, you would see thay they would NOT sell it to a balck magazine because a white magazine would give them more money!

But they would never been called sell out because they are doing that for money!

If they decide to go to a black magazine regardless of how much millions Vogue or whatever magazine would give them, then you would know that they care about being black but honeslty, I don’t think they do!

  • valenne

for that reason, iwould never worship any celeb and i would never wait for them to represent me!

No mags carried the story about B and Jay cause there is no story. If they did get married, “so f*ckin’ what and who cares?” and if they didn’t get married, “so f*ckin’ what and who cares?”

Right. Ain’t no mainstrean magazines gonna put the wedding of a Rapper on it’s cover and I don’t care if it was Beyonce’s wedding. OF COURSE there is a subliminal racism going on.Here’s the thing:I DON’T CARE.I don’t find White Celebrities any more compelling just because there’s a larger “machine” out there that wants to cover them.I DON’T find White celebs to be any more attractive…or interesting…or intelligent.I’m so over this “media matrix” that covers…glorifies…and DEIFIES White’s.I don’t think a story about a Black celeb in a publication that covers mostly White celebs is a “STAMP OF LEGITIMACY” for that Black celeb.THEY WERE ALREADY THERE.It’s ALL BACKGROUND NOISE to me.

I think the question becomes one of since there are now PLENTY of media outlets that cover Black celebrities/culture…which of these entities will STEP-UP & write the FAT CHECK for an exclusive?

There are plenty of ppl who had to do all those things you just listed and still got their work done. Yeah it was much harder than that white child who didn’t have as many responsiblities but it’s not impossible. Not to mention there are just as many white kids growing up in socially unfit homes. Stop trying to make it seem like all white kids got it made. They don’t. I also think you missed dubya’s point when she ( i think) said there are ppl coming to American from third world countries running circles around us. You are right about one thing… it’s not that simple. Some people want more and so they do better. Others want more but also think they deserve it and so someone else should just give it to them.

  • dubya

    valenne:

you are 100% correct. You and I both know it is not that simple, but the fact of the matter is that a white person of today is not going to look at it like that.

If Michelle Obama can pick herself out of the south side of chicago and make herself into the woman she is today, why can’t they all do that.

The white person of today has no tolerance for excuses.

  • Negrodamus Believes

Negrodamus believes a magazine showing real white

people is needed. Not these ultra left wing nuts in Hollywood..So “I Know White People” is officially in publication.

    1. Sports

If you’ve been in a white person’s apartment or home you might have noticed a ball that looks like a cross between an egg and a football. It is a Rugby ball and it is an important sport for white people.

    2.St Patrick’s Day

This very special white holiday recognizes Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland who helped to bring Catholicism to the Emerald Isle. His ascetic life is celebrated every year by white people drinking large amounts of Irish-themed alcohol and listening to Ska Music. Normally if someone were to wake up at 7:00 in the morning, take the day off work, and get drunk at a bar before 10:00 a.m., they would be called an alcoholic, and not in the artistic, edgy way that white people are so fond of.

    3.Having Gay Friends

If white people could draft friends the way that the NFL drafts prospects it would go like this: black friends, gay friends, and then all other minorities would be drafted based on need and rarity to the region.

    4.The Idea of Soccer

Many white people will tell you that they are very into soccer. But be careful, it’s a trap.

If you then attempt to engage them about your favorite soccer team or talk about famous moments in soccer history, you are likely to be met with blank stares. This is because white people don’t actually enjoy watching soccer, they just like telling their friends that they are into it.

In fact, the main reason white people like soccer is so they can buy a new scarf. As you may or may not know, many soccer teams issue special scarves, and white people cannot get enough of them!

i know but is harder when you are not coming from a perfect family

That’s the whole point. NO ONE COMES FROM A PERFECT FAMILY. It doesn’t exist. Everybody has challenges to overcome and everyone’s limit is different. Some breakdown and throw fits when they don’t get everything they want while others are in highschool taking care of their little siblings and cooking and cleaning while trying to make it.

  • Ms. T.

Jogger, you are absolutely right. Eva Longoria is Mexican and Tony Parker is Black all day long and twice on Sunday. They got a lot of media attention, because they were a very public couple and included the public in all of their wedding plans. There was hype. Jay Z and Bey on the other hand kept everything hush hush and finally people just stopped caring what they were up to.

And as for Jennifer Lopez, she’s Puerto Rican. Black, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Cuban, Panamanian….it’s all the same. Don’t let anybody tell you different.

  • beauluv

i know y they aren’t getting the same publicity and its because jay z is not as big a star as he was his songs dont sale like they used to. bey needs a real star to be with if she wants big publicity cause if this was will and jada they definitly would have gotten more publicity jay z is a behind the scene mogul he is not as important as bey or will smith, denzel or even forest whitaker

  • Negrodamus Believes

    5.Threatening to Move to Canada

Often times, white people get frustrated with the state of their country. They do not like the President, or Congress, or the health care system, or the illegal status of Marijuana. Whenever they are presented with a situation that seems unreasonable to them, their first instinct is to threaten to move to Canada.

For example, if you are watching TV with white people and there is a piece on the news about that they do not agree with, they are likely to declare “ok, that’s it, I’m moving to Canada.”

Though they will never actually move to Canada, the act of declaring that they are willing to undertake the journey is very symbolic in white culture. It shows that their dedication to their lifestyle and beliefs are so strong, that they would consider packing up their entire lives and moving to a country that is only slightly different to the one they live in now.

    6.Gentrification

White people like to live in these neighborhoods because they get credibility and respect from other white people for living in a more “authentic” neighborhood where they are exposed to “true culture” every day. So whenever their friends mention their home in the suburbs or richer urban area, these people can say “oh, it’s so boring out there, so fake. In our neighborhood, things are just more real.” This superiority is important as white people jockey for position in their circle of friends.

They are like a modern day Lewis and Clark, except instead of searching for the ocean, they are searching for old properties to renovate.

    7.Dogs

A lot of cultures love dogs – be it for entertainment, labor, or other. But white people love dogs on an entirely different level.

It should be understood that in white culture, dogs are considered training for having children. That is to say that any white couple must get a dog before they have kids. This will prepare them for responsibility by having another creature to feed, supervise it’s bathroom activities, and to love. Because of this, white people generally assume that their dog is their favorite child unless otherwise stated.

When actual children are born, the dog is not displaced but rather remains as the most important member of the household. This is because of the fact that white children will eventually hate their parents, but dogs will love anyone who feeds them.

White people generally believe that dogs have human emotions and that they are capable of loving certain TV shows, films, and music. “Buster just loves watching Six Feet Under!” Even though most dogs would enjoy watching Hitler if he were getting attention every time it came on the TV.

  • ThatTX Dude

I think they should just sell the pics to Essence Magazine if the other gossip rags want to act like that. Essence is considered a classy magazine, and they are considered, by most people, a classy couple. They would also probably get the front cover, and that issue would be picked up in stores by alot of people of all races because both of them have fans across the spectrum. Finally, Essence is already the leading black oriented title as far as ad revenue. It would be a win-win for everybody.

“something is wrong in a society when you don’t believe that a degree wil get you a job because your black and that is somethin i have heard lots of people said here” That’s called ignorance and laziness. It’s much easier to rap or shake your ass than to have the dedication, perserverance, and fortitude to get up and go to school to obtain an education. Human beings by nature want to take the easiest route. The problem is the easiest routes don’t yield the best benefits. We have to realize that and know that I may have to be without now to have more later. Not to mention a child may have a better chance of becoming a doctor if their father is one but the majority of ppl who are doctors did not grow up with a doctor parent.

  • cns

If you want to piss them off and actually admit that they are married, 1st completely ignore them, then only refer to them as boyfriend and girlfriend of 6 years. Then Papa Knowles will come out ranting and raving about his daughter’s marriage not being respected by the press. They are playing the game all wrong. The last thing a celebrity wants is for the press to ignore them. Once this happens they won’t be able to shut up about their wedding.

  • Spaniard Gurrllly

@ Ms. T I dont normally post on here but reading your comment I noticed u saying that Cuban, Rican, Mexican etc are the same as black BUT we’re not! I’m a Cuban of full Spaniard decent (meaning that I am of European ancestory aka white) and while the majority of Cubans are of mixed Amerindian and White/Spanish desent there are actually very few Black. Same with Mexican (who are mostly Mezito). Ricans have slightly more Black lineage but most are mixed Amerindian and White/Spanish. I love all colors of people but it really annoys me when people discount my Spanish heritege by saying that all Hispanics are Brown/Black when infact a large number of us are White but are classed as not being so because we speak Spanish. Some Hispanics do indeed have African ancestors but NOT all so please dont make a blanket term like that.

Annie is wrong, and hilarious to tell a Cuban about what THEIR heirtage. Look at Sports Journalist Dan Le Batard. He is Cuban and he looks as black as Justin Timberlake. NOT ALL CUBANS HAVE AFRICAN BLOOD. Don’t be a dumbass

  • Annie

    Spaniard Gurrllly,

FYI, African Americans also have Spanish and French (check Creole identity), Native American, and Anglo-Saxon (remember Sally Hemings) heritage. At the end of the day, they are perceived as black. At the end of day, as a cubana, you are perceived as a half-black or a spick. You are not from Spain. If you go to Spain, Spanairds have no problem letting you know that.

  • Pretty Latina

    @ Spaniard Gurrllly

She’s absolutley right. It’s not a self-hate thing. There are in fact many Latinos that are strictly White. Their ancestors have never mixed with the other cultures. Gisele Bundchen’s parents come direct from Germany. No Black, Indian, blood running through her veins.

  • nico

Umm they arent being racist..they are selling magazines. If the masses arent going to buy it, why produce it? This is basic economics people. Geez. This is not a time to play the race card.

  • ethang

Like I’m supposed to care that Bey and Jay didn’t get on the cover of a magazine when these two can sleep in for a week and still rake in the dough. Feel sorry for the rest of us that have to get up early in the morning and work a full day, five days a week.

  • Annie

Common Sense: I’m cubana. You are a dumbass for stepping in when you don’t know much about Latin identity. Most Cubans have African heritage, and we all have African cultural ties. Having black or white skin means nothing. My family is multi-colored, going from Dita Von Teese’s skin color to Beenie Man’s color. We all have Spanish, African, and Indian blood running through our veins. There is no need to discount the African part when it is so obviously a part of out culture and identity. That is called self-hate. Have you eaten Cuban food and compared it to African food? Have you compared Cuban music to African music? Cubans have been able to retain more African cultural practices than African-Americans. There are hundreds of anthropolgical and sociological research of this phenomenon. Read about it. Then comment.

  • Annie

If you actually go to Cuba, you will see brown skin, not white skin. Cubans in Miami think that they are white, and often raise their children to hate black skin and bad hair. Fortunately, I was not raised to be a self-hater. Cubans are not white, and they never will be white.

  • @ Annie

How do african american’s have Native American Descent?

  • Common Sense

    @Annie,

Just because African culture is part of Cubano Culture as a whole doesn’t mean that every Cuban should be “embracing their african identity.”

Black culture is part of American culture as a whole, but that doesn’t mean Carrie Underwood should embrace her blackness.

I have been to Cuba sweetie, I know the difference. Explain to me why a white (spanish) cuban should think of themselves as african if they in fact have no african blook? By your reasoning, black americans (who, like thier white Cuban counterparts are a minority) should embrace their Europeaness because American Culture is overwhelmingly Euro-centric and because MOST black Americans have European blood.

So, do you advocate that all the brothers and sisters on here should get down with their whiteness?

Spanish people were controlling by the Maures in the 18 century and Maures where black! Histiry! Actually, that is why italians and Spanish are so dark!

  • valenne

    History!

  • valenne

    sorry, let me try again

spanish people were controlled by the maures. Their influence were going from Spain to Egypt! Lots of spanish, italians are so dark because they are actually mixed with black but of course, they will never admit that!

  • Wanjiru

…gimmie a break with this…they wanted to keep it private…they’ve been trying to hide their entire relationship…so if that’s what they wanted..then THEY GOT IT…

I have learned that yesterday, Black people were controlling this world!!!!!

  • NuAgenda

Yea, it’s too bad she’s not with a white guy celebrity because Beyonce would get front covers left and right on those white celebrity magazines.

Her and Jay Z aren’t married anyway so they’re lucky they got whatever coverage they did anyway.

  • valenne

From Egypt, to Ethiopia, and the Maures, they were extremely powerful!

  • cc

    @ Valenne

Blacks controlled the world at some point? Never heard that one LOL….I guess that didnt last very long then hu!!!

  • valenne

    it last centuries

Have you ever heard of Pharaons

poor black people, they never teach us our patrimony!

We have invented mathematics, we have been the first people tho develop the concept of astrology etc…

  • TROPICAL BREEZE

    blab blab blab blab

yawn … this story is getting old

    its a bit worn out,

  • Linda

I don’t think this has anything to do with race, how about no one really cares if these two tied the knot. Blacks or whites.

  • valenne

    have you heard of MAURES.

They have been controlling half of Europe form 711 to 1492. Maures were actually muslims and were from the norht of Africa and from mauritania (Black)!

Damn, what are they teatching you to school here??

I think all black should go to black school cuase you guys don’t know your history!

  • valenne

I would like to see them sell to the highest bidder and donate ALL THE MONEY to “Make It Right”. New Orleans still needs to be repaired. Those are some of her people down there – I’m sure they could use the money. Brad and Angie shouldn’t be the only celebs who care enough about what’s really going on down there.

  • Common Sense

Valenne is only partly correct. The MOORS are a people now refered to as Berbers in Morroco and Tunisia (I’ve been there). They are an amalgamation of sub-saharran African (dark black skin) and northern african (See Morrocan, Libiyan, Tunisian and Egyption). So while they are dark skinned, they are not necessarily the same as africans like Nelson Mandela for instance.

Also, they were prevelant during the dark ages and early medeival times. Thus, while they certainly integrated themselvs into spanish and some italian cultural and ethnicity, they by no means were fully integrated, nor do all (more like few Spaniards or Italians) have any more African blood than your average German or French person (I mean, we’re ALL from africa). I can certainly provide links if you require.

  • Aoki Lee

That’s what they get for acting all ‘cloak & dagger’ about their relationship in the first place!

  • read a book

Hate to break it to you people but Valenne is right. Pick up a book sometimes. It does a mind good.

Valenne was correct in her word usage — she was using the French translation.

Also, I believe it was Time magazine that ran a cover story years ago about origin of humans in Africa. Just found this online from a 1995 New York Times article:

“Earlier analysis of the DNA of the mitochondria, the tiny structures within each cell that generate its energy and that are transmitted only by the mother, indicated that all humans have as a common ancestor one woman who lived in Africa some 200,000 years ago — and inevitably has been stuck with the name Eve. All human mitochondrial DNA now extant, it seemed, derived from a single ancestral mitochondrial molecule from that place and time.”

  • valenne

which used the mathematics were the babylonian civilization and the egyptians!

How can magazines publish Jay z and Beyonce wedding stories/pictures when they (Jay and B) are not even ADMITTING to being married? They are going out of thier way not to wear wedding rings…so its safe to assume that they dont even want people to konw that their married…sorry no racism there.

  • Dimple Pink

That’s what they get for acting all ‘cloak & dagger’ about their relationship in the first place!

    ————====================================

Exactly what I said! I’m so over this whole thing. They obviously didn’t want people to know it was going down and then to have all their friends and family deny the whole day how can they or anyone for that matter expect to get a cover?

Valenne is SO right. ALL of academia started in KMT (egypt) and was done so by AFRICAN people. The libraries were destroyed by the homosexual war-monger Alexander (named ironically enough after the libraries location) ALEXANDRIA.. read a book indeed.

There is a difference between racism and smart business. If a magazine ain’t gonna make as much money by putting Beyonce on the cover, why should they be socially obligated to do it? No rapper has to put images of white people on their CD cover to prove they ain’t racist.

Let’s use the race card when it is reasonable…

  • Secondthatemotion

The only way black women get on the cover of US or People or OK! is when they get knocked up by white guys.

Now, by snide aside notwithstanding, I think we might be jumping the gun on a controversy that isn’t really controversial.

Do black women buy US in the same numbers that they buy Essence? I doubt it. While I’m sure plenty of African American women are up to snuff on their Jennifer Anniston goings-on, I doubt any of them really care what’s happening to her with the same vigor that the ‘becky’ crowds does.

I’m willing to be corrected on this, but something tells me I’m not all that wrong about it.

Congrats to those two kids though. Jay’s a lucky duck to be getting in that when the spirit moves him…

My point is just because a Cuban has white skin does not mean that they do not have African heritage. There is A LOT of colorism in Cuba. People disown parts of their families, and they will “pass” like they came straight from Spain. If you were in Cuba you should know that most Cubans have brown skin. That is uncontestable. Further, even with my own WHITE complexion, I have a grandmother as black as midnight. The fact that I am white-skinned does not eliminate my African identity. Many white-skinned Cubans will tell you that it does. I have heard the conversations and listened to people try to distinguish themselves from the “darkies.” At the end of the day, it is self-hate. There is no need to go on and on about how Cubans are not SO black. The only reason you would try to emphasize this fact is if you are trying to justify the whiteness is greatness myth.

Furthermore, immigrants into a nation, like Shakira and other cited in your example, clearly do not apply to my analysis. Obviously if you moved to Cuba from Lebanon, you have Lebanese heritage. So, what is the point? The vast majority of Cubans cannot trace their heritage and find not a drop of African heritage. I was raised in Cuba, lived in Miami, and consider myself to be quite versed in my culture. I recognize the good and the bad. A bad part of my culture is the self-hate and the colorism. Without a question.

  • valenne

    @ common sense,

More on the Black Pharaohs of Egpyt, and I can provide a link and list of books and other resources:

Pharaohs ruled Egypt for 3,000 years—from around 2950 B.C. until the death of Cleopatra, in 30 B.C. These all-powerful rulers, most of them indigenous Egyptians, are grouped into 30 numbered dynasties, followed by a Persian Period and finally a Greco-Roman Period, of which Cleopatra was the last sovereign.

But even during the many centuries of native Egyptian domination, a few dynasties from elsewhere held sway intermittently. The 23rd dynasty was a loose grouping of kings of Libyan origin, many of whom ruled in the Nile Delta. The 24th dynasty came to supremacy more or less simultaneously with the 23rd, at a time when parts of Egypt south of the delta were weakly controlled by Egyptians from the heartland.

Into this power vacuum came the 25th dynasty—a family group of strong kings from Nubia or Kush, south of Egypt in what is present-day Sudan. These rulers were dark skinned and bore the distinguishing facial features of sub-Saharan peoples. They swept north to the delta, reinvigorating historic forms of worship as they came, thus gaining the support of the Egyptian priests.

Modern scholars have debated the race of the ancient pharaohs as new courses of study based on Africa’s, particularly black Africa’s, contributions to Western culture and world civilization have arisen over the past three decades. But whatever the skin color of the native Egyptian pharaohs, there’s no dispute that during the 25th dynasty all of Egypt answered to black pharaohs who hailed from deep within Africa.

THE IMPORTANT PEOPLE KNOW!!!!!!!!! WHEN PEOPLE FEEL THE NEED TO GO ON BLOGS, GOSSIP SIGHTS AND INTERVIEW WITH MAGAZINES WHO ARE THEY ATTEMPTING TO GAIN APPROVAL FROM? JAY AND BEE HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO DO THAT. RESPECT IT. MOVE ON.

    Again, Valenne. Name a book.

“Read any book” Well, I have, many and as Sydney correctly stated, the kingdom of Nubia was black and that is the only evidence of truly dark skinned africans ruling Egypt. No genentic studies of Egyptian ruins have been able to link any with any certainty any other genetic connection between black africans and Egyptians. They looked then like they look now, North African.

    @Just sit and be pretty:

I’ve been to Morrocco and the food was great, but you’ve got to be careful. It was an amazing experience and it was the first time I was in a country that was predominantly Muslim in its culture and people. But Morrocco (the cities moreso) is a very western friendly country and you can go to the beach and see women swimming in Birkas and then see a pretty Morroccan girl in a bikini. Very unique experience.

Your logic is convoluted at best. Just because YOU look white and have a darked skinned grandma, doesn’t mean that my cuban friend whose family came to cuba from Spain in the late 1800′s and is entirely spanish by blood should have any connection with being Afro-Cuban. AGAIN, by YOUR LOGIC, black people should not deny their Europeaness because they are surrounded by Europeans and almost all black americans have European blood.

Does that make sense. Are we self-hating if we don’t see ourselves as white and embrace our English Heritage????

    Don’t ignore the question please.

It’s amazing because as much drinking as I supposedly do in the evenings and all the alcholic references, I might soon be in need of a 12-step program. I mean really, how much Shiraz or cosmos can I drink every night without running into problems? :-) Seriously, whoever that character(s) may be, it’s apparent they really are lonely and screaming for conversation/attention.

I saw your remarks/recommendation and am considering some options. Last time I checked, even though internet laws are evolving, cyberstalking is considered a crime. I always say that I don’t have a problem with someone coming at me sideways a million times (using their own ish) because I can more than handle myself. However, when you continually engage in unlawfully using my image to harrass, or post inappropriate/vulgar material…well to me, a line is crossed and there is a concerted effort to defame one’s character.

@you know i just feel like people need to understand that their lifestyle was chosen by them, that means no privacy, and it is their business, but with millions of fans that love you and made you rich ,what’s the harm in allowing them in on your happiness, not saying detailing the whole nine yards but i think their fans have a right to know, i think they are selfish, they want the money the fans bring to them but don’t wish to include them in just acknowleding the fact that their married, i have never been a fan of beyonce but their are millions who are, so i just think its foolish and selfish also a wedding is a joyous time to involve all star or not , the wedding was private understood, but damn let your folks share in your happiness since their the reason you can buy 60,000 dollar flowers and 700,000 in wedding material. when i got married i was happy and didn’t know who cared, they got those tats as rings, they probably been married

Understand what you’re saying and I agree b/c I am a beyonce fan and wish her nothing but happinesss but look the industry she is in. Every little thing she does is scrutinized. I can completely understand why she would want something sacred and special that not everyone gets to have. I mean really her entire life is on display. The media wants to tell every personal detail. I don’t know about you but I would not want ppl following me around constantly taking pictures and talking bad about me.

This is the craziest s**t I have ever heard. If Blacks can sell millions of albums, theater, movie, and concert tickets, how in the hell can they not sell magazines? Why don’t these publishers just say what they mean. They don’t like to put Black people on the cover of their magazines because they would rather promote anyone or anything that is White, as this maintains the status quo and ensures that Blacks continue to see themselves as less valuable than white people. We know that’s the truth, so why not just admit it?

  • get your facts straight

For the idiots talking about when was the last time Bey was on the cover of a magazine. Are you serious or just dumb? Beyonce has been on the cover of over 183 magazines already. She was even the first singer on the cover of Sports Illustrated so stop lying to yourself. Beyonce is a-list, very mainstream, and the most popular BLACK female artist in the world. Now Jay on the other hand yeah he’s not mainstream which is why it’s just Bey on the cover of PEOPLE and US WEEKLY but she is on the covers. Oh and Beyonce does have personality and she is not boring. Some of you are lying to yourselves seriously. If she is so boring and has no personality then why is she the most discussed black female artist and the most successful of this generation? I mean really you are lying to yourself if you think people dont find her interesting. She gets talked about 24/7 especially on blogs and on posts that even not about her. At least she has talent I would rather all this hoopla be about a talented singer instead of no talent robots like rihanna or cassie. But seriously this was all over the world and even CNN was talking about this wedding. So to those of you saying ‘nobody cares’ sorry but you couldnt be any further from the truth. You can say you like Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, etc better and that they do this and that but Beyonce is still doing better than them on everything. I’m just stating facts because some people on here are really in denial. Race has nothing to do with it, the second Bey and Jay release a pic or confirmation it will be on every mag cover, even though they got just about every mag cover already. I mean Beyonce is on the cover of PEOPLE AND US WEEKLY two of the biggest magazines today, so what are ya’ll taking about?

Marrakech is a good place to visit as well as Casablanca (Marrakech is less modern with more old mosques and an amazing old school market). I definitely would reccomend going into the mountain. I stayed there for 3 days and it was my favorite part.

Also, try Essaouira. It’s a beautiful town on the west coast where Jimi Hendrix used to stay (he wrote the song ‘castles made of sand’ there). Very pretty.

I didnt even read the comments but I know a bunch of people are agreeing that they shouldnt get top story for whatever reason they think is justifiable.

Like her or not she is one of the Top faces of Black music and so is Jay. They didnt cover anyone Black wedding at all ever really.

  • thatsbull00

And one main reason is supposedly because they were secretive about it? Well I follow those Tabloids and many celebrities dont say anything but sure nuff be on the cover in a 6 page spread on a bunch of bull and accusations

  • just saying

@you know saying that your married is not detailing your life to the world, i still think her fans that made her rich deserve to know from her, they made her rich and so did jay, they didn’t become rich by themselves, so i still feel that saying your married and in love is not telling your whole life story to the world. telling is not going to make or break the marriage, so i still feel the same way, but i also think she likes this little attention because truly the media has not been checking for her lately and this is right up her and jays alley. look at mary she bigger than beyonce, it hasn’t affected her privacy with her man we don’t know what goes on we just know they married like any other married couple. its like they really need to get over themselves cuz really noone cares like that she is the one keeping the media hungry by not saying it, cuz they no as soon as they admit they will be back on the back burner

The magazines aren’t racist but the fact could be is that Black people do NOT sell covers. The people that go to the stores and purchases these magazines are just not interested in someone thats is on the covers that happens to be black. Why should the magazine fork over millions when they know that beyonce wont sell? If knew J.lo wouldnt sale or if they knew Britney wouldn’t sell they wouldnt give them the money. In this situation the race card does not apply. Don’t blame the magazines…

Black people are the most racist to eachother. Black people are downright evil to eachother and set out any chance they get to sabotage and destroy eachother’s progress and success. When it serves them, black folks will even join forces with racist whites to detsroy another black person they envy or resent for doing something to uplift. From selling eachother to slavery to killing eachother off in Rwanda and Haiti and the black communities across the US, black people, people of African descent, are their own worst enemies and liberal whites laugh at black folks all the way their bank where they are rich off of black self-hatred dollars.

Jay is a business man. He knows the racist media. And he knows his cultural capital is more valuable in secrecy than handing over his person business for crumbs. His attitude and success speak volumes: Jay don’t sell or settle for crumbs.

When and if they do decide to share wedding photos let it be on the cover of Forbes when they both make the top earning lists AGAIN. Congrats JB, no selling out and no settling for racist crumbs.

Unfortunately, AA covers hardly ever do well in many distribution areas, especially in the south and rural mid-west markets.

I’ve been in the publishing business for over 10 years, and honestly, when a choice is made for the cover, it’s all business–what will sell the most for their particular book & market space.

I wouldn’t cast blame onto the publishing companies, as this issue isn’t a new one by any means, and perhaps is an eye opening insight into the buying habits/preferences of many American consumers.

    Negrodamus Wrote:

On top of that..we don’t even know if she’s married or not..just pure speculation. Beyonce is a private individual and a wedding on the other hand should be private as well. But we don’t know if it happened. And even if it did, it’s Beyonce’s and Jay-z’s business if they want the pictures of their wedding to be posted

  • just saying

@you know it was nice conversating with you, even though we disagree slightly, now about the back burner true she might have sold alot records just like numerous of other artists that’s not unheard of but to the stans they love quoting that, anyway, still she is not the it girl right now, i hate to say it rhianna is the it girl for the moment i agree she can’t sing but the media is tired of beyonce and they bringing up the next it girl just like history repeats itselfs their were it girls before beyonce and surely after her its a cycle but i respect your opinion and i wasn’t calling you a stan in this post i was just saying some people quote that likes she is the only one sells records

  • kiki

I can’t believe them haters would even say some mess like that! I really wanna see those pictures, but if they is gonna compare BeyJay to the likes of Britney Spears and Jeniffer Aniston, and then have the nerve to say that covers of those to caucasian women would sell more covers than my favorite couple Beyonce and Jay-Z, then no, I don’t think the mag deserves the photos. Bey and Jay should put the pics in a black magazine, like Jet, Essence or Vibe.

soooo not true…Black people in hollyweird rarely give the tabloids enough ammo to be cover material.. On the B and Camel note i dont think many weeklies wanted to take the risk of making it cover story and they are still denying it. They prolly dont even have a pic of the “bride” so can u sell a mag on a hunch. NO!! we as a county as a nation like the juicy stuff the details and this story is just laking such. I dont think even if they offered B 1,00000000 that she would sell her wedding info, becuz she has always been so private.

I don’t think its racist at all. These publications are about there paper and trust if there was a way to exploit blackies and get top dollar they would do it. Bottom line is Blacks are like 12% of the Nation and Whites are like 70% and they want to sell as many magazines as possible. If the white constituents were buying the mag in droves with Blacks on the cover then to meet and improve their bottom lines there would be a Black on the cover, the inside cover and back and so on. Its about that dollar. Whites wanna see Whites…mostly and Blacks wanna see Blacks mostly and we know Hispanics don’t care for anything thats not Hispanic. It is what it is.

These are the same people that think that white people love em.

    @ Beyonce #1 Fan

Halle Berry is light skinned and IMO way more beautiful than Beyonce and no black man would respect and honor her.

Since you wanna play particulars, lets break some things down. Mind you I am a Beyonce fan but lets be real. Beyonce may be light skinned and she is also “bald headed”, knock kneed, and inarticulate.

Nevertheless she is still beautiful and talented.

My point is not hating, but to make clear that no woman is perfect and no type of woman has a monopoly on beauty.

You have devalued and reduced the sense of worth and identity of light skinned sisters to nothing more than trophies and arm pieces.

And Beyonce who represents herself as being proud of the beauty of blackness within and outside her own family would be repulsed by your views and would for damn sure refund your supoprt for slandering her nephew’s mother and her paternal grandmother and her cousins this way.

You don’t see Beyonce with no light skinned posse and on the arm of a light skinned man. She surrounds herself with and loves all shades of blackness.

So many light skinned women are preyed upon for the wrong reasons and not valued as human beings.

All the light skinned women in our communities stuggling with children out of wedlock on their own just because racist brothers who think like you just want kids by a light skinned woman but still don’t want to father and be a husband.

Stop spreading your racist lies about black women.

We are universally beautiful women, except for those of us who speak ugly racist lies about ourselves and our sisters.

God Bless You Sister and may He heal your warped mind and soul.

Just because you make that much dont mean white people respect you! People know he use to sell drugs and do dirty things, you cant compare J to Donald because Donald have game on lock J wishes he were him.

How many white women are scared to pass a black man on the street, no matter how much money he has? Alot! so dont think just because he is worth $100mil and own half of NY that white people have forgotten that he is black and ex drug dealer. TO most whites the only thing J has going for him is Beyonce.

  • Michelle

Black people have to stop the desire for white/other people to validate us. We don’t need white validation or validation from any other group of people for that matter. The mass media reports on what they believe is important to them. Just because its not important to them doesn’t make it any less important; it just means they are not interested and that’s okay. Our culture and beauty is revered all over the world. When are we going to learn to revere ourselves and for that to be enough.

I agree, they didn’t mention much on the entertainment shows either.

  • Gossip Girl

What has Beyonce said or done on behalf of the Black Community? Nothing at all. She and her family promote her for “herself” and that is sad. It also is the reason there is very little love or genuine interest in what she does. Jayz on the other hand has sponsored, provided guidance, and mentored countless young Black artist. Bottom line is they are not a power couple, so no mag covers for their nupitals. What they are is a man that got the girl of his dreams (no crime there) and she married the bank!

  • Gossip Girl

Off subject: Anyone know why Halle is hiding baby Nahla? Me thinks the baby didnt come out as cute as Halle hoped. Im sure Ms Berry would splash all over the networks the picture of a “likeness of herself, whitened moreso by Aubry” if that were the case. I betcha a dollar the baby is a darkcomplexioned cutie pie. Its a pity Halle doesnt think dark is cute.

  • Token White Guy

    @ Kenny

    > I not saying anyone is dumb, just that the housewives in middle white america who purchase the mags may look at him a different way.

Well, yeah. If we’re talking about older white folks then you’re probably right. Hopefully, they’re the last generation of people who think like that. Now that the generation of kids who grew up on or around hip-hop is raising families, I think that a lot of the old-style racism is going to die out.

    > Just because you make that much dont mean white people respect you! People know he use to sell drugs and do dirty things, you cant compare J to Donald because Donald have game on lock J wishes he were him.

Any white person with a damned bit of sense respects J. The man went from nothing to almost everything. Everybody I know thinks Trump is just a rich asshole, so J might be better off than he thinks.

    > TO most whites the only thing J has going for him is Beyonce.

Well, let’s hope that that “most” is getting smaller and smaller every day. With any luck we’re going to have a black president, so the old days are getting further and further in the past.

  • as seen on t.v.

the only black person white mags are checking for is halle when she finally decides to show her kid…other than that they could care less about black folks and particularly this black couple…we don’t buy mags, at least not white mags…and they haven’t even officially stated they were married anyway…so i guess the mags are like if they won’t confirm…why would we pay them millions for pics…

i think all blacks do know what we do is wrong but the fact is alot of blacks dont want to change. there are alots of black women who i know that do respect them selfs and there are some who just dont. we gotta respect each other. first you have to respect your self yeah u right and love your self and then you respect others. you treat people the way you want to be treated. i just want blacks to think about that.

  • http://www.myspace.com/SAxlerod SAxlerod

Finally, someone the balls or lady business to tell the truth! I’ve been saying the same thing for years. The publications will give a African American a front spread if he or she kills 10 Hollyweird scarlets or some other washed up waste of time. And then they won’t call you African American. At that point, you’re “black”. Just short of really wanting to say the N-word. And you know when these mofos are at home, they aren’t calling you “African American”. This is why racism will never ever die. It can’t because what’s whitey going to do? There will never ever be equal ground. I’m still waiting for my gotdamn 40 acres and a mule. And I want it in the Hamptons! It is a serious concern because some of our young black kids who are impressionable don’t have black people as heros but look up to Hollyweird’s Horrible. Then they try drugs, DUIs thinking they will get the same “pass” as these wackos do. When they find out the true reality, we’ve lost another one. This world will always be racist and thankfully we’re not being lynched but our culture is being raped and hung in other ways. Thank you for recognizing and for the topic.

  • PIMP DADDY

BEY LOOKS LIKE SHE JUST GOT BANGED WELL.

  • lovely and amazing

Yes the media can be racist.

But in all fairness Beyonce and Jay-Z didn’t announce or admit they had a wedding. There could be lawsuits involved if the tabloids publicized a wedding and possibly they are not married.

I do think two people who are 100% fan-made should share an announcement and photo with their fans. The curiosity and intrigue is uneccesary and kind of cruel if you think about it especially knowing how their fans care.

So, guess its no big deal the weeklies didn’t put them on the cover.

  • http://www.selectappraisalonline.com Kimmie in Cleveland

Jay-Z and Beyonce have downplayed their entire relationship. Pics of them together are scarce compared to other celeb couples, because they wanted it that way.

I think that these two people have made it obvious, that they don’t want to be followed and hounded constantly, and have their privacy invaded. It destroys relationships and marriages all over Hollywood, and they have chosen to protect their relationship from the media for that very reason.

Beyonce’ and Jay were dating for years on the down-low, before they ever confirmed being a couple in public. I am not surprised that they had a small wedding, and did not make pics available to the public.

Remember Janet and her secret marriage to Rene’, for how many years??? The only reason that it lasted as long as it did, is because she kept it a secret.

I don’t think it is racist. Beyonce and Jay could have gotten married and shut all of New York down, had a huge gala at the Waldorf or any other 5 Star Hotel, had outrageous amounts of money spent on flowers, and a huge dress, with a long list of celebrities in their wedding party, and had every pap in town taking pics. Magazines would have gladly bought photos, and paid whatever the market would bear for them.

They chose not to plan it that way. It was their choice. What is so racist about that???

Maybe they just want a marriage that will last.

  • Fiyah

Gee i wonder what they should have put on the cover – a big ole question mark, a truck that might have been transporting the lovely bride, or maybe a couple of wedding guests saying wedding? what wedding? i dont know anything about a wedding o.0

  • Yes.We.Can.America.2008!

Why do some of you hate Beyonce so much? What has she done to you personally to make you hate her?

Why do some of you love Beyonce so much? What has she done to you personally to make you love her?

    I wonder who will answer.

  • http://www.viewparkonline.com Angie

I agree that they downplay big time black celebs for lesser white celebs, but it’s not as bad as its made to seem.

First, the mags did all they could with what they had. This was a very secretive meeting. If they had more material to work with, I’ll bet it would have made more covers.

Second, the wedding was all over the mainstream gossip blogs as well as black blogs and let’s face it, who else matters? No one is reading those mags anymore anyway. It’s “The Internets” (as our president calls it) that count.

  • gemstone83

This going to sound cliche, que all that matters is that they are happy. Now why should they worry about whether or not magazines that are dominated by white interest put them on the cover….We as a people need to realize that that we don’t need them, we need each other…plenty of Black magazines will put them on the cover….and supporting a Black magazine by sending it to them would be ideal anyway…but it’s up to them. They are a very private couple and probably have no intent on selling them at all.

  • Sheila

I don’t know why yall trying to make something out of nothing. Did it really have to be titled “Jim Crow…..”Black people’s photo’s don’t sell much because black people like being so private… ie., Jay-Z and Beyonce. White people like being in the spot light, as much as they try to deny it…they know it helps in the longevity of their careers. For this simple reason they get into fights with each other, date the popular celeb or lose a ridiculous amount of weight…its called creating a controversy. Who would pay for pictures that can’t fabricate stories. Think about that before you start another ones of these stupid discussions. Beyonce and Jay-Z don’t like their business out in the public and if you ask me they shouldn’t be featured at all in no one’s magazines.

  • ignant

  • All in fun

I doubt we will hear anything about them crying about this. They seem to be comfortable with who they are and their relationship. They could afford to get married any where and how they want and they choose a low key intimate affair. Please leave them.

  • lucky

They admittied they were dating like someone said what you want a pic of a damm white truck? they always downplayed everything about themselves so what’s the big problem

  • lovely and amazing

Black folks have too much sense to be paparazzi. Jumping in front of cars and hanging out of planes for a picture just doesn’t seem to be our thing.

There isn’t a black tabloid magazine yet or a market for black paparazzi yet.

So black celebs get press but not tabloid status. Only cross over stars (ie. Halle) get serious paparazzi action and market value.

BTW- “Inside Beyonce’s Wedding” is on the cover of US weekly. Truth be told, she looks very white on the cover. Remember, narrow minded society and media still associate marriage with white people.

  • TheDen

I think it’s been said in this thread, but I had to stop in & agree with 1 thing. It’s asinine to blame the media for being racist, over something like this!?!? It’s the most retarded mentality a person could have in this case. It’s that same “We Shall Overcome”, “Wade in the Water”, “Da White Man Be Holdin the Po Black Man Down” mentality. Get over it, man, this doesn’t have anything to do with that situation!

Are we forgetting that this is Jay-Z (my homie) & Beyonce’s (my homegirl’s) fault? Yes, their fault! THEY’RE the ones who chose to keep the wedding/marriage a secret. THEY’RE the ones refusing to confirm that they’re even married. THEY’RE the ones choosing not to wear any rings in public. But yet, it’s mainstream media’s responsibility to put it on the main cover of the magazines, or else it’s racist!!??? Please, drop that “Roots” mentality, please.

If the 2 parties involved are refusing to be public about something like this, then stop blaming print media for not making it the focus. That’s not racism, that’s just common frickin’ sense!

You’re going to call print media racist, yet, didn’t a Latina get front-cover coverage for her wedding to a minority basketball player. Didn’t another Latina get repeated front-page coverage over her relationships, finally getting married again to another Latin minority singer, her repeated tries to get pregnant, and her getting pregnant finally??? The answer is yes. All those things were on the cover of US Weekly, People, and every other mainstream gossip mag on the planet. And haven’t we seen black-ass Oprah on front covers like those many times along the way? The answer is “yes” again. And haven’t we seen BEYONCE HERSELF on those same covers many times throughout her career???? Yes again. And now, we’ve got Rihanna on those covers all the time too, these days, ALONG WITH those white celebs.

Yet, AFTER ALL THAT, some of us still have the balls to say it’s racist because Beyonce & Jay’s wedding wasn’t the front cover??? I love the selective memory that comes with that “We Shall Overcome” mentality. Bottom line is, if you go out of your way to keep something secret in this case, then go out publicly denying anything ever happened, don’t be shocked if it’s not going to quite make top story on the front cover. There’s no color in that. Get over it. Thanks, just my opinion.

Of all the things to be calling racist…..

WHO THE F#($* CARES ABOUT CELEB GOSSIP MAGAZINES?????

COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are Jay Z and Beyonce really so important to the black community? God, I wish I was born in the 40s. Then I would be alive in the 60s when REAL progress was taking place. And the celebrities black people looked up to were Malcolm, Martin, Patrice, Kwame, Julius Nyerere, Che, Angela Davis..

and now our heros are people who cater to white audiences, singing about being “bootylicious” and hustling….

    Lord help us.

Is it racist media or is it racist consumers that the media is selling to? Why would a business market something that sells less than something else…I think the consumers the ones who set the trends. Effed up as it may be reality is just that…reality.

I am just not so sure what the relevance of this particular insert is about. I mean I can understand the media not paying blacks equally for their personal photos and stories…HELLO THIS COUNTRY WAS BUILT ON RACISM AND IT WILL ALWAYS BE PRESENT AND RELEVANT.

However…I though Beyonce and Jay Z did not want to share their news with the world. So what do they care if their stories don’t make 1st page or whatever. I mean come on. Are you that hard up for cash and attention that you need to be payed more money than is necassary or plausible??

    Paleeaaassseeee.

  • Stomp Like an Elephant…
