According to a teacher in Baltimore who got the beatdown on this video, students deebo teachers on the regular. The principal of the school said the teacher never should have “provoked” the student by saying she would defend herself. SMH.

I was an English Ed major too. I taught high school for 2 years and that was enough for me. Not only are kids off the chain, but so are the parents. And unfortunately, I can see a lot of prin*****ls saying the same thing just to cover there own *****es.
cops in cl*****rooms. Let a cop break a student down in cl***** and they will fall in line. Just have the parent’s sign waivers or keep your bad a$$ kids at home.

This is just a by-product of ridding the public school system of its’ right to exercise corporal punishment (Swatting that ***** when it got out of line) + allowing teens to breed.
I’m a Baltimore Native, I have worked as a teacher in Baltimore city school system for over 8 years. My mother was a Baltimore City School teacher for 30 years until forced retirement. First what was done to the teacher in the video was 150% savage and inappropriate, but you folks on the outside looking in must understand something before you judge all of our children. In High Schools you have a 50% drop out rate, 70% for Black Males in Baltimore. The ones in school are coming from some of these neighborhoods with 50% unemployment *worse then some third world country, school system with multi-million dollar debt, and until recently spending under $1000 per student when they were subject to get $6000 per student. As citizen of this country these children are entitled to a proper education, I know at a quick glace of a violent act some people just want to call all Baltimore city school students monsters and Wire clones. You can’t burn the village down and call it peace. These children need help, they need better education…this is the answer no matter where your from.

I don’t blame her for not wanting to return to that school (and probably not even teaching), and I understand she needs to make a buck to replace her salary, but please….Choose another profession and move on instead of trying to turn this into some quick celebrity. These happenings occur quite often in urban school systems, unfortunately.

Precisely the reason why there is a lack of good teachers in inner city schools. Who would subject themselves to this type of abuse and danger on their meager salaries. The question is, who is responsible for sending these hooligans out to the schools? The parents obviously have no control or involvement in the childs behavior/ discipline b/c although these children will act out, knowing that there are serious penalties, would have significantly reduced the likelihood that this would have happened, at most talking back and arguing would have been the case- but giving your teacher a beat down?? Someone must be home alone to have that kind of nerve…. I cant believe the lack of respects for adults in that environment!!

If that what she calls defending herself she needs to think before she speaks if faced with a situation like that again. Its about students not having any proper home training and school officals allowing them to roam the halls like unleashed animals because they are afraid of losing funding for their schools.

@Lance, hats off to you!! My sister is a HS teacher in a tough school district in NY. When she first went into teaching, I was like “don’t you want to teach in a district that’s less ‘urban’?” and she emphatically stated that she wanted to teach the kids that could be considered “socially challenged”. I was concerned for her safety, but she’s been doing it now for many years…she loves it and her students love and respect her!! From stories that she tells me, she’s part mother/counselor/teacher/social worker…and I really again give mad props to anyone who teaches, especially in this day and age and especially in those tough school districts.

These are the type’s of students that don’t need to be sent to jail, they need to be ordered to enlist in the military and sent to battle. Here’s a more reasonable solution – Why don’t you round all of these “MAL-CONTENTS’” up and move them into your backyard and teach them to behave as human beings? I’m with you. Put these kids in boot camp and take away their freedom and teach them some discipline. Barack or whoever else can throw as much money at schools at they want, that is not going to change the fact that their parents are not raising them properly. Someone has to train the kids who are not getting the training at home.
I wonder what will the parents do? Are they around? Or are these children being raised by parents who are barely adults themselves?
I wished I would have even thought of hitting a teacher. My mother would have ‘kilt’ me right where I stood!! Some kids today, do not have that healthy fear of their parents or anyone else in authority. Some kids (and parents too) think it’s cute to get smart with people in authority. Sadly, when they enter the penal system, they will have all day to give the warden a piece of their mind.

this is true that teachers are often threatened. i work in a high school and I routinely see males and females “buck up” at a teacher for telling them to get to cl*****, sit down, get your materials out, whatever. I kid you not, asking a student to get his materials out and get to work can get you cussed out.
So you call security and it takes them 10 minutes to remove the student. You ask said student to leave cl***** if he doesn’t plan to do any work. Said student begins to get loud, cuss, and use challenging/threatening words.
Security finally shows up, takes him to ISS where he talks to his friends for the rest of the period, and then he is released to go to his next cl*****, have lunch, and continue on with his day.
I see it each and every day. The parents don’t care, the prin*****l will blame you for not knowing how to control your cl*****, and eventually the student will be absent for 10 days or more because he was arrested for felony possession of a stolen firearm. And when he returns, he is more bad ***** than ever.
You can save some but you can’t save them all. Look for the ones that want help, help them, and send them on to be productive members of society.
You didn’t have this problem when the teacher was allowed to exercise corporal punishment, ie. the ruler or the paddle. When i was a kid, that ***** worked like Pavlovian Response. You got in line quick!…And God forbid, if you were sent to the Prin*****l’s Office. You ordered to bend over, grab your ankles’ and prepare for five or ten SWATS (Depending on the severity of the offense). That’s why i grew up to be the law abiding, productive, tax paying citizen i am today. Can the same thing be said or hoped for, for today’s and the future’s generation of swine?

After looking at this video and hearing all of this stuff relating to our children – I must go again with how I perceive children. A child is a direct reflection of the parent. No matter what. It is not like it used to be at all. These children have no fear in them, from the parent to the teacher.
Think about it. Where does the child spend most of the time when they are not at home. IN SCHOOL. Remember when the Prin*****l and Teachers were allowed to break you down in school and then call your parents and your parents got you in school and then got you at home too. That was fear. Now what, if you threaten to “discipline” your child, they know they can call the police, child services, or tell a teacher and then no more “discipling” because now the parents are scared. So, of course, their child is an angel. However, (let me show my age here) I am in my 30’s and I dare my child to bow up at me, an adult, whether in my presence or not. I will call 9-1-1 and let them know I am fully dressed for my appearance in their facility. I can’t stand unruly and disrespectful children.
As a person who coaches cheerleaders “In the hood of things” I must tell you that I get up in my girls’ face and let them know, they have but once and then I will be calling their mom to let them know what I have done. As a matter of fact, I tell the parents as soon as they sign up how I am so if they have a problem with that, then their child needs not be with me.
Remember people, it takes a village to raise a child, let’s go back to the old ways where we encouraged each other and helped one another and most importantly beat your neighbor’s child.

I am currently a high school English teacher, not in Baltimore (thank my lucky stars), but my experience is still with young brothers and sisters. 1st of all, I must say that the PRIN*****L should have had better behavior management in the school from day 1 of the school year. I am certain this problem is occuring due to faulty ADMINISTRATIVE skills. However, who’s to say the teacher had any cl*****room management skills of her own? As an adult, she should be smarter than a bunch of minors who don’t even have a completed high school education, and smart enough to diffuse this situation before she got stole on.Because she got whooped by a student, her career in any hood oriented school, from Maryland to Denver, is OVER! She’ll never be respeted by any student ever again. With that said, if that was me, I WOULD HAVE BEEN ONE ***** WHOOPING MOTHER*****ER ON ANY STUDENT BOLD AND BRAVE ENOUGH STRIKE ME IN MY CL*****ROOM LIKE A GROWN WOMAN OR A MAN!!!! You see this happen in Baltimore. This type of thing wouldn’t have happen in baton rouge,la. First off the teacher would have presented some hands to the student too. Second the student would have been arrested and charged with battery on a school teacher. Down south we don’t play that sh*t.

Cut the *****ing bull***** man. I’m from a bad neighborhood and DC and these *****s know the difference between right and wrong. Most if these bad kids ***** parents both middle cl***** and lower cl*****. We need strong parents who whip ***** and spend time with their kids. We need shows like Super Sweet 16 to be taken off the air and we need to get back to the basics. Lazy parents and misguided kids are the problem. I hope that teacher sues the entire city of Baltimore for what happened to her. Just a few months back some Baltimore kids beat up a white woman on the bus…..we Must fix this problem and stop making excuses. Just because you’re from the hood, doesn’t mean you don’t know the difference between right and wrong…..that’s bull*****.
Curiously, the student appears not to have been arrested, going by this news report.
If the teacher had been white, and the girl arrested, would many of us now be mobilizing a Jena 6-type demonstration for this girl’s abrogated civil rights?
Just as curiously, if a demonstration were organized to defend the basic civil rights of teachers from this kind of *****ault, where would the marchers march to? Baltimore City Hall? The girl’s house? Her parent(s)’ job?
Third and last curiosity: If it is a point of pride or necessity for black identity to reject mainstream (read: white middle cl*****) norms of behavior, and to reject them indiscriminately, then what behavioral norms do we replace them with that would make this girl’s behavior unthinkable among her peers? If you have to threaten your children with bodily harm, is it an admission that you don’t expect much self-control from them? If our children can’t be educated, merely tamed, what future do they have in an education-based society? Especially if they can no longer even be tamed?
Here’s a speculation: in 40 or 50 years, America solves its Negro problem (and ours as a people with devolving ability for self-management) by repatriation of the 15 million or so of us left to the western African countries depopulated by famine, disease, and economic collapse. Black people’s unhappy encounter with Western civilization ends where it began.

I don’t know if a good old fashion beaten will deal with this complex issues that contribute to the murder and violence. So far as tax payers and teachers and such, It takes a village to raise a child. It looks like it may be all of our problem in the end.

The youth of today are gone man. My sister lives in Baltimore and attempted to substitute teach a couple of years back. She told me the kids were so rude and vulgor. She told a student to stop disrupting the cl***** and the kid told her F** U and that he would F*** her up!! Unfortunately for that child my sister was not fazed and she too told that student that she too would defend herself at all cost. Her and the student proceeded to argue and eventually the prin*****l was called in. The sad part of this tale tho is that my sister was fired from her position and the student was allowed to return to cl*****.
I feel sorry for the teachers who have to teach in an environment as the Baltimore city schools and I especially feel sorry for the youth. They just don’t realize that the early years really mold who or what they are gonna become.
