Lupe Fiasco

Lupe Fiasco may quit the music business. He says it’s not the making of music or the performance aspect, but the business of releasing it as a product that’s got him weak in the knees.

    DAMN THANK U!

  • beautiful b

    @ BROOKLYN BOMBSHELL

Because he wasn’t saying anything. And I am speaking with limited knowledge since none of his singles have never compelled me enough to buy a cd.

    ?????????????

U RIGHT EVERYBODY GOTTA A RIGHT TO LIKE WHO THEY LIKE, BUT BECAUSE U DONT LIKE HIM PLS DONT SLEEP ON HIM. HIS SONGS WERE VERY DEEP AND EVEN KICK PUSH WASNT ABOUT A SKATE BOARD.AMERICAN TERRORIST, DAYDREAM’N, THE COOLEST, HURTS ME SOUL…REALLY…WHAT R U SAYING? DONT LIKE HIM..BUT DONT DISCREDIT THE BROTHER CAUSE IT WENT OVER UR HEAD.

  • I’m Just Me

    @ 6 Figgas!

    I hear you!

  • Earth Sign

Lupe got knowledge. Black folks dont want to hear his message. Yall like that twurk music, that poison hip/hop. Too bad thats the only thing that sells.

  • t

@ beautiful b – thats what the f*****ck i’m saying to these surface a$$ people…… dig deeep people dig deep.

  • t

@ earth sign….. you are on point with that.

  • DaPro

Being from the Chi, the lil brotha makes me proud. I would hate 2 see him bounce from the rap game but I can understand why he would. It’s all politics and bs but we can’t see that. We rather “crank dat” and listen to lyrics that mean nothing. I’m all for preference but we must look beyond the surface and appreciate good hip-hop.

  • Earth Sign

WAKE UP BLACK PEOPLE, WE BEEN LOST FOR SO LONG

  • Brooklyn Bombshell

As for his singles.. the message didn’t go over my head. And I didn’t discredit him. I’m just not going to miss him. At all. Ever.

Now if Talib Kweli ever said he’s had it with the business (and he has waaaaaayyy more right than Lupe’s ass to say anything) then I’d shed tears. And he’s not the ONLY coscious rapper. You people are acting that way. He’s not the ONLY and he is FAR FROM THE BEST.

  • Earth Sign

Listen to Hurt me soul and American Terrorist on food and liquor, and Dumb it Down on his new album will address the nay sayers and the state of what the industry is going through

    @ Cage

    Whats up brah?

  • What The…

Didn’t he say this last year?

  • Pussnboots

Damn I’m not a fan of hip hop but Lupe’s three albums were really hot. Dude had meaning in his lyrics and it was bubble gum as music that you can’t understand like Flo rida and Soulija boy and LIL WAYNE..I’m gone write this dude and tell him to stay in the game cause if he goes then my kids will only listen to Sesame streeet when they turn 20 cause I’m not having soulija boy in my damn house.

  • Southern Belle 225

I didn’t like him at first but after hearing “The Cool” I have a whole new outlook on Lupe. I think he is a postive cat who makes good music which is what our kids need instead of all the other crappers mentioned above. All of these “hot” artists that are out now is the reason I BARELY watch BET or any other music channel. Hip Hop in alot of ways is dead.

  • NEEK

    i agree wit u T..

without lupe there is no hip hop

    ughhhh..ima go crazy

    i love me sum lupe

    plus he cute..

  • Brooklyn Bombshell

The only ignorant person is the one who can’t stand another with an opinion. And maybe if you kept reading you could’ve saved yourself from going so hard. SMH

  • Shavon Denise

Damn that will be a travesty to the game because only a handful of people that rap are lyricist and do the real “hip-hop” thing. Lupe is one of them but with the state of the industry these days how could you blame a person with the intellegence that he has to want to call it quits?? Ultimately I believe he wont because he has a love for music and that will prevail, but hey he might just pull a Barry Sanders on us. That will be a sad day in hip hop my people if that happens.

  • Cage

Brother M whats good man i been chillin… How the west coast treatin you?

  • joke

okay don’t report that he cant take the heat cuz I think Lupe can, i’m sure someonen like him has other motivations than money. Is it so bad that he is being stand up saying he doesnt want to put out music just to put it out, lupe shows real promise and love for what he writes, its admirable that he realises he doesnt want to put out records just to say, I released 65 albums.

  • Brooklyn Bombshell

He probably thought he would sell out millions. But if you come out and you know you’re not going to be the conventional artist with the commercial music then you should have already made peace with the fact that you’re not going to sell as much as the artist who caters to the majority’s wants. And you should be on a label that caters to the artist who isn’t going to or expected to sell out millions.

what a goofy pic lupe. i guess hese doing a project with wiz khalifa i dont know here look for ur self

    myspace.com/wizkhalifa

  • BE

    Old news.

Brooklyn Bombshell is a clown. That’s just ignorance. You have a right to not like an artist but if you’ve never listened to someone then you have no logic behind your reasoning. Ignorance is not lacking intelligence but “not knowing”. And you said it yourself you know nothing about him or his music.

And Lupe said he does not like he business aspect. The music game is not what it used to be. I don’t blame him.

  • Ghost

Can’t blame him either. If you work hard at your craft and it gets ignored for Bust it Baby, Coon Dances and cough syrup drinking clowns from New Orleans, I might want to set away too.

And a lot of black folk might not know who he is since most black radio stations ignore him as do our black media. I learned more about Common, Lupe and even Pharrell from the white media than the black media.

He shouldn’t give up just yet, try doing what the last 4 guys whose rap careers have fallen off. ACTING! Mos Def? Ice Cube? LL Cool J? Will Smith? Or do the theme to a tv show-The Who are milking the mess out of checks with CSI.

  • Dimple Pink

This dude has vocabulary and is quiet articulate.

    luv u lu!

  • Dimple Pink

    LUPE pls come to Homecookinradio.com

check the website dude. We would luv to have u!

  • ebonyeyez

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I LOVE LUPE!!!!!!!!!! HE KEEPS HIP HOP ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hate Killer

We personally shouldn’t have to BEG anyone to keep following their professed “passion”. – With that being said, Lupe can stop rapping today, and the sun will still rise tomorrow, therefore, Lupe should quit if he wants to. No big deal.

The Music biz sucks today. Being a performing artist is draining, and trying to fulfill the admiration of all the fans will kill you. Literally, put you in a box, dead.

Whether you like Lupe or not, doesn’t matter. Lupe’s attitude toward the biz of selling records reflects the attitude of many if not all hip-hop artists today… “Why make good music when there’s a good chance it will never be released (by the label) due to industry politics?”

We’re missing out on a ton of good musicians/artists whose tracks are riding the “Wait Your Time” bench because of this BS.

“LUPN” is Lupe’s last album, like the Black Album was Jay-Z’s last album. Don’t be fooled hipster you crazed fans you. Lupe won’t leave Rap. Besides, Lupe will definitely have to pay the bills somehow.

@Dimple Pink – C’mon now, there’s no need to post all them lyrics! We got the album, and ain’t no need for lessons either.

    - Killer!

no lips dont got no game.

  • mecca

right when he came out with his first album he made it clear that he was only doing three albums and then was goin to move on to other things.

this is old news, and its not about him not being able to “take the heat”

  • http://www.myspace.com/SAxlerod SAxlerod

Lupe is so right with this shiz! The music business is hard. That 15% is also the bullshiz you go through by dealing the underhanded business dealings of mofos in the business. I would hate to see him go. He’s very talented. But he’s again right. He’s a breath of fresh air compared to those so-called hip hop artist who are horribly imitating a pure art.

  • Nu

Dang Lupe. Both your cd’s are getting much play from me. Dang. Do you though. You only have one life to live and if you’re not happy then what’s the point?

  • just realized…

he got on my jordans!!! well,we have the same sneaks*grin

  • E

I’m sooo upset!!! I looooove Lup he is so talented!

  • blackwoman

i really like him i hope he dont.

  • that one girl

    @t

I co-sign compeltely. There is no more hip-hop if lupe leaves. What am I going 2 listen 2 now? Then hip-hop will only have kanye, jay and nas left and they can’t keep the movement going on by themselves.

  • Too bad 4 you

    who cares ….

  • Hip-Hop Head

    @ that one girl

I co-sign but i would have to add common to that list

  • I’m Just Me

So because we don’t all like Lupe we have to be stupid or whatever.

@Philly you were probably talking to me and trust me your whack opinion doesn’t count in my eyes at all. All you seem to focus on is Mexicans but at least they are trying to work. What are you about young buck? Sitting home and smoking trees. When you start to say something productive to the conversation then we’ll worry about you. I may be fat in your opinion but I can lose weight, what can you do about that ugly mug of yours that you have plastered around?

As for the rest I definitely don’t care for 50Cent at all nor do I care for Soulja Boy, Weezy, Baby or any of these type of people. I respect Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def. I can admit that maybe I didn’t give him enough of a chance, but geez, you all don’t have to take it so extreme…if it isn’t that serious to me, then it just isn’t that serious to me. That is just me and I am only one person. I didn’t call him whack, I just said I didn’t like it. You act like I am trying to hurt him.

  • ATLBlogger

LUPE LEAVING THE GAME? SAY IT AIN’T SO…..I honestly love this guy music, it’s so refreshing & I would hate to c him leave. We need more artist like him.

  • *starlight*

honestly who cares he will just give someone else the chance to take the spot that he does not want let someone else shine if u cant handle the pressure!!

  • da darkness

people seem to think that home swag has come a from bit t.i. i’m indifferent.
