I do take ssue with ‘catching the Holy Ghost’. How can you catch what is named to be God Almighty? Is God a nerf ball that preachers like Pastor Manning can throw at people and they act like animals wailing, and dancing? The Holy Spirit is named to be the reason the universe was created, so I think it INSULTS God to say people can ‘catch’ Him like they catch a ball and act a fool. First, Bob Johnson did not concern himself about programming when he ran BET. He was concerned with making money. Television is not philanthopic endeavor. It is a business. If he had a bunch of educational PBS programming on BET there would be three black folks watching it, and one of them would only be watching to have something to go complain to their friends about. Black people can be so ignorant. Worrying about stupid ish that won’t change nothing. If you want educational programming its out there. But nooned watches. PBS struggles every year for contributions to bring quality programming, and it offers alot of African American series. But how often do you watch. STOP BEING HYPOCRITES. You want entertainment, not information. Politicians are not going to change the f*cked situation that society is in. The can open happen when the people wake up out of their stupor and demand change. Other countries take it to the streets and demand action. They rioted in Haiti and Bush sent relief because they can’t afford groceries. Hell, neither can we, but he sends aid there? And noone talks about that. Instead wasting time arguing about two people who aint gonna change ish. They’re already rich. WAKE UP. If you want change, act. Stop complaining it won’t matter. There are checks and balances set up in the government to ensure they can’t change too much (Congress and The Supreme Court). The people are the only ones who can institute change, and this is one lazy ass generation. Sit around complaining and passing judgement on those who have got out and done something while you have no intention of doing a dam* thing.

The Food Network is successful.

The Fitness Channels are successful.

The Home Design and Remodel Shows are successful.

Emeril caters to his black viewership without exploiting and degarding black people.

And the lifestyle and family shows are successful just showing people planning weddings and having babies.

BET can’t run cooking shows, fitness shows, higher quality dramas and sitcoms, the same higher caliber of shows black people support on other networks.

Of course not, because BET thinks less of us and the programming reflects that.

And if you notice you don’t see many black people on those networks at all. BET is the programming that black people want to see. Maybe not you or me, but there are plenty of people who enjoy its content. But what about VH1 and MTV they are equal opportunities oppressors. I doubt if Bob spends his time conspiring to make the black community look bad. Like I said there is educational programming out there but it doesn’t make money. I’m sure there are chefs who can complain about the commercialization of the culinary industry that is found on Food Network. There is always something to complain about, but what are you gonna do about it?
