We reported yesterday that Beyonce would be launching her own perfume, but that may not be an option because the name of the perfume is already being used by popular retail brand Abercrombie & Fitch.
After the Tuesday announcement of Beyonce’s perfume launch “Sasha Fierce” Abercrombie and Fitch filed a lawsuit against her for trademark infringement. Apparently, Abercrombie & Fitch already has a cologne out for men by the name of Fierce. Abercrombie & Fitch claims that the name similarity between their cologne and Beyonce’s perfume could cause confusion for consumers and cost them sales.
The Fierce cologne by Abercrombie has sold $190 million since 2002. There has been no word from Bey Bey Beyonce, but according to Abercrombie & Fitch attorneys, the Knowles have been sent a cease and desist letter. As of right now, the Knowles haven’t backed off on their name.
