Ciara and TI are amongst a long list of celebrities set to to participate in the “Turn Up the Vote” event this weekend. The event, which is co-sponsored by Russell Simmons’ Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, will take place in Philadelphia.

I swear some of yall are crazy HATERS with nothing better to do!! This has NOTHING to to with them(especially Ciara) as performers, and it’s not even about TI’s previous convictions. This is about getting young people to vote.I’m so glad that celebs are getting involved, because a lot of young people listen to and follow what their favorite celeb is saying and doing(I have no clue why). So maybe now that these celebs are getting involved more young people will exercise their right to vote.

It’s not about people being haters on these two. They can yell go vote all they like, but what is that child HEARING at home or on the street?
TI and guys like him (Bow Wow, Soulja Boy) are chosen to do this versus guys like Hill Harper, Romeo or Mario. They don’t appeal to the lowest common dummy (Black kids).

We are going to encourage young people to go out to vote. I personally know the value of having the right to vote and it taken away from you, but I will add my voice to help inspire others to take seriously this right and responsibility
Good for them. Especially T.I., he is doing his community service. Maybe talking about a right that has been taken from him, b/c he’s a felony. Will inspire others.. not to go that route.

Also, I don’t see why a convicted felon has to lose his or her voting rights forever, seems like after their debt to society has been paid their voting priveleges should be restored. I said that Ciara does not “strike” me as being politically aware in that she does not give particularly insightful, intelligent, or meangingful interviews. Basically, I have never heard her say a word concerning politics or our nation.
Now do you get the point? Striking someone in a certain manner does not necessarily mean physical appearance…
Being political is the new cool thing to do. Most celebs are getting involved in one way or another. TI has to do community service so he might as well start with getting young people to vote. If he speaks from the standpoint of I messed up and now I’ve lost my right so exercise yours and stay out of trouble so you won’t be like me, it will be a good thing.
