That stinks! I have a friend who was in the same situation. She completed her Master’s in Public Health, was involved in many extra-curricular activities, volunteering, etc. and was unable to get a job for lack of “work experience”. Hello?!? How can you get “work experience” if you don’t get hired for the job? Anyway, she went BACK to nursing school, works as a nurse, and is NOW able to utilize her Master’s degree. I’m pro-education/college. It’s one of the best and most accessible ways to elevate oneself, but sometimes there’s a lot of b.s. that goes along w/it too. I’m going to make sure that when my kids go to college they select one major for “passion” and another major for “employability” (don’t think that’s a real word, but it works).

The reason why President Obama is acting this way(nothing negative) is tht he has to. The reason why I say this is b/c he has alot of pressure to do a good job while in office just b/c he’s black, and it’s for tht reason tht he has to be “perfect” in the eyes of some who are just waithing on him to fail. Now if the president were white(and I dnt mean to put color in this), then peolple wouldn’t be talking about this so much. Did these issues come up when Bush was in office(not talking about color)??

Being a Black woman raised in the South (Alabama) there is no way that I have not witnessed racism whether it be overt or discreet in nature. I say most of this is because I do have children that are biracial, me being Black and their father being Caucasian.

I have been noticing that people are always asking who is going to pay for health care in the long term. Who pays for it now??? When people are sick and have no insurance, they go the hospital instead of the doctor. Somebody pays for it. That is why a dose of Tylenol is $400. Canada is doing it and thriving better than what the media will let you believe. Stop listening to the lobbyists and reasearch and see the truth. How many more Americans need to lose their jobs and insurance coverage before you can see that national coverage is a good thing for us all?

Obama is a clever man. How many of us who work in fields, that were traditionally the province of white, upper middle class people know, that sometimes you have to play the long game? You know you have to work harder and be better qualified than your white counterparts. You may experience blatant racism, but you have to choose your battles wisely, and sometimes not call out blatant racism for fear of being seen to play the “race card.” Obama knows that senator was racist. Obama has to choose his battles. He very well knows Jimmy Carter is right, and that rethug Wilson is a racist. He is wise enough to ignore the drama. If he engages in black versus white and lets this degenerate into a race issue, he will lose. Sometimes you have to play along. The end justifies the means.
