Obama made a recent decision to go to Denmark to push for the Olympics to be hosted in Chicago.  But with his Health care Reform plan underway people think it wasn’t a good idea.

President made the hasty decision to fit a Denmark trip into his busy schedule in order to push for the 2016 Olympics to be held in Chicago.  The initial plan was to have the first lady Michelle Obama sit in and push for Chicago but Obama decided last minute to go as well hoping his presence would help gain the vote for the summer games to be held in Chicago.  The host city will be picked on Friday and the President plans to be present for the presentation on Friday.  Barack Obama’s appearance at the meeting will make him the  first U.S. president in modern times to pitch for a city at the IOC meeting.

Some believe that Obama’s decision to go to Denmark is hasty and unnecessary.  RNC Chairman Michael Steele bashed Obama for his trip:

“I think the First Lady would have been and should have been the lead here, let her go and sell Chicago. But the goal should be creating not job opportunities seven years from now but job opportunities today. And I think that what the president is doing is not necessarily helpful and doesn’t, in my view instill the confidence in the American people that the focus is there on jobs, wealth creation and moving us beyond a recession to prosperity.”

The cost of hosting the Olympics could be 8 million and upwards but the revenue that it could bring in could really help America during this tough economical plan.
