Actor John Mahoney Died In Hospice Care Sunday

This is super sad news. Actor John Mahoney passed away in hospice this weekend, according to TMZ reports.

“I am sad to confirm the Sunday, February 4th death of actor John Mahoney after a short illness in Chicago, IL,” a rep for the actor told Page Six on Monday. “The family will issue a statement at a later date.”

Mahoney is probably best known for his role on “Frasier” as Martin Crane, the father of Frasier and Niles Crane. He won a SAG Award in 2000 for his performance in the role and also received two Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

His career spanned 40 years; Mahoney recently appeared in the TV land series “Hot in Cleveland,” and he also appeared in theater productions, even claiming a Tony Award in 1986 for best featured actor in a play for his role in “The House of Blue Leaves.”

Prayers up to his loved ones. Rest in Peace.
