Fans Will Get Some New Mobb Deep Later This Year

It seems like just yesterday fans, friends, and family members were shocked by the news of Prodigy’s passing, but it looks like we’ll be able to get one last piece of music to remember the legend by. Less than one year after the death of the rapper, Mobb Deep’s surviving member Havoc has confirmed that a new album from the duo is on the way.

Havoc stopped The Beat with Ari Melber to discuss about music with former New Jersey Senator Robert Torricelli. Following some friendly hip-hop debates, Havoc was asked about how he’s coping with his friend and former collaborator’s death, and about his plans to add a new Mobb Deep project to the duo’s already storied catalog.

When talking about Prodigy, he says, “The way I’m reflecting on it is I’m just trying to keep the legacy alive. We deserve that, and I’m actually currently working on the new album in conjunction with the family. It’ll be out there pretty soon. Before the end of the year it’ll be out.”

Good news for fans of the late legend who want to hear some more of his one-of-a-kind lyrics–especially in the form of some fresh Mobb Deep. Since this new project is being curated by those closest to him, we can only hope it will do him justice.

RIP Prodigy.
