It is not the President’s job to create jobs. He has done all he can to create an environment where job creation can happen. It is really responsibility of your elected representatives and local government. The universal healthcare plan, WHEN passed, will assist small businesses in providing insurance for there employees, giving them the ability to hire more employees. His Green energy initiative are already creating jobs, there is a plant being built, and many thousands of jobs will off-shoot from its creation.

Funny how all you haters had not one word to say for the last 8 years. Most of you didn’t even vote which afforded Bush 8 years of destroying this country. You don’t even know what the significance of the Nobel Prize is except someone on television said Obama was not worthy. THE DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS WAS FEB 1 2009.

The five-member Norwegian Nobel Committee – four of whom spoke to The Associated Press, said awarding Obama the peace prize could be seen as an early vote of confidence intended to build global support for the policies of his young administration.

They lauded the change in global mood wrought by Obama’s calls for peace and cooperation, and praised his pledges to reduce the world stock of nuclear arms, ease U.S. conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthen its role in combating climate change.

“Some people say – and I understand it – ‘Isn’t it premature? Too early?’ Well, I’d say then that it could be too late to respond three years from now,” Thorbjoern Jagland, chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, told the AP. “It is now that we have the opportunity to respond – all of us.”

Jagland said the committee whittled down a record pool of 205 nominations and had “several candidates until the last minute,” but it became more obvious that “we couldn’t get around these deep changes that are taking place” under Obama.

President Obama is the third sitting U.S. president to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and is the first to become a Nobel laureate during his first year in office.[175] Theodore Roosevelt won the award in 1906, Woodrow Wilson in 1919, and Jimmy Carter in 2002. [176]
The award was for a peace initiative more recent than had been recognized in past Nobel Prize awards.[177] It was a surprise to Obama, who said, “To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who’ve been honored by this prize,”[178] continuing, “But I also know that this prize reflects the kind of world that those men and women and all Americans want to build, a world that gives life to the promise of our founding documents.” [179] The award drew some criticism, including from the former President of Poland, Lech Wałęsa, who won the prize in 1983, stating, “So soon? Too early. He has no contribution so far.”[180] The award was also praised; 2007 Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore called the award, “extremely well deserved.”[181]

I can’t believe their is such hate in the media towards a man being recognized for promoting peace. But that is to be expected. The first black person to make a contribution to history has always been persecuted. Here is our president, a living legend, who should be respected * not mocked and ridiculed. Thank God this committee was able to see past their hate. He has a gift and the grace to invoke global unity. He is American, with foreign roots, who is both black AND white. He has a vision and he is on fire blazing the trail and making a difference. Thank God Obama knows how to use those haters as his motivators.

White people like bestowing upon black people the Nobel peace price- remain calm n–ga. The award was established in 1895 and only 3 Blacks were awarded for their literary works. 8 Blacks have received it for peace. Toni Morrison is the only afri-Am to receive it for literature. there are 5 other categories, damn.

I think this is a setup. They are putting way too much pressure on this man. I think they’re trying to make him crack, so now he has to live up to this hype that the Nobel Peace Prize is causing. It’s gonna take more than 9 mths to fix Bush’s mess & the world knows it. This is a great honor but something is not right with this.

As far as I am concerned, this is an award Obama can aspire to, so to speak. Obama has the potential to live up to and earn this award.He can still show the world he is truly deserving of it.Obama is a visionary and the Nobel Peace Prize is a futuristic award, so please read up on the history of the award first because denouncing his win. There is much you can learn.

it’s funny and it’s sad that so many white American’s are so upset by the fact that president obama won the nobel prize. i was sitting down in the communication and music building waiting for my class to start at 1:30 p.m.

then i suddenly hear, some student talking on their way out of the building. there were saying how president Obama doesn’t deserve this and how it should have been given to Al Gore.

it dawned on me just how racist and ungrateful some of this American’s are. i mean god gracious, can’t Obama do anything right in the eyes of americans. i mean this honor validates just how the rest of the world sees him. why can’t we do the same thing. why can’t we just stop the criticism and just congratulate him. why can’t we all just say congratulations president obama.
