Shyne’s dad is an accomplished attorney, as well as, the Prime Minister of Belize. His dad has revealed some startling news:

Rapper Jamal “Shyne” Barrow’s father, Dean Barrow, Prime Minister of Belize, told Belize media that he has written to New York Governor David Paterson asking him…

… to pardon his son so that he is not deported back to Belize – the country of his birth. Shyne was released from prison on Tuesday after serving eight years for his role in a New York nightclub shooting incident in 1999 involving rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jennifer Lopez. Shyne is currently in the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities (I.C.E.) in New York.

Questioned by reporters as he was leaving the house of parliament in Belmopan Friday, Prime Minister Barrow said the Barrow family sought help from Charles Ogletree – Harvard law professor and a member of President Barack Obama’s inner circle to assist Shyne in resisting deportation to Belize. Mr. Barrow told reporters he wrote the letter to the New York governor at the request of Professor Ogletree.

The Belize Prime Minister told reporters that “I have not had a response. I have spoken to people close to the governor and I have been assured that the letter has been received and that it is under active consideration. But I can’t say that I am able to call in any favors such that would guarantee that he is able to remain in the states.”

A spokesman for the Barrow family said today that Shyne’s lawyer Oscar Michelen has advised them that I.C.E. will make a determination next week on whether Shyne will be deported to Belize.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Barrow revealed for the first time that shortly after his son Jamal “Shyne” Barrow was sentenced to prison in the U.S.A., he had written a letter to a former Governor of New York.  In that letter Mr. Barrow said he asked that his son be repatriated to Belize to serve his sentence as that was what Shyne wanted at the time. “That never went anywhere. Just as well as it is now clear that he wants to remain in the U.S.A. to continue his career,” stated the Prime Minister.

Why is Shyne such a Thug/Rapper if his dad is an accomplished lawyer??

dude rapped about cutting crack up and his dad was prime minister.

    shit. what an idiot.

  • MonstaDon

His father abandoned him as a youth…which is how he ended up in america to begin with…he’s the product of an affair with a woman outside his father’s marriage. If you listen to his music, or read his old interviews, he covers those topics in detail.

    100.

  • Kierah

At the rate Gov. Paterson is going, he couldn’t gum off his shoe let alone let somebody out of a deportation rap!

  • Soulsister No. 1

I heard that his father was not in his life as a child, and only his mother raised him and provided for him. The question I have is why is he so concerned about his son now!

  • Heather

I do not care if his father was there or not…he wanted to serve his sentence in Belize so he should go back….You cannot have it both ways. Even though his dad was not around he still chose to take a fall for Puff, so that’s the price you pay. He is making all this noise about Puff, being deported not being deported…there are still innocent victims that were hurt by his or Puff/jlo’s actions and I am sure they dont give a f where this dude ends up, just not back at there local night club. Someone help shyne pack his bag…let his father raise him!

  • rothschild

nobody wants to be barred from america. its crackin here!

    LOL.

  • PRPPLE, just call me TADOW

  • DontBeScurred

    I vote to deport.

  • always knew

I hope he gets it. Shyne is no different than all the free Nazi’s that the States still has roaming around….

For the Record: I don’t think Shyne did it.Yes, he copped out to it. I think Diddy, did it. I hope Patterson does give Shyne a pardon. I hope Shyne stays out of trouble and has learned his lesson about famous American blks (w/ guns)…

  • BlackSuperior

HE’S A POOR LITTLE RICH BOY.

  • SiDeWayZ

He was not raised by his father. He was raised by the NY streets in the States.

  • -

    @ BlackSuperior

Lol @ Poor little rich boy? You know you wrong for that one.

  • http://bossip Pimp 4 A Day

Why does he want to stay here? It’s not like he can get a good job or anything. He can’t rap anymore either because everybody knows his father is a prime minister. You can’t get any softer than that.

Yeah exactly fam , especially alot folk in here commenting on the case with knowing little to none of the facts involved in it – let alone even the artist . Basically the summation is that Puffy got Johnny Cochran and Shyne got Murray Richman – its not hard to tell what happened. His father abandoned his family on the streets of New York for all of Shynes life and now is getting involved. Dean Barrow only as well has been the Prime Minister for a year …

  • boss me

shyne was raised in ny his mom and pops split up and he decided to live wit moms in NY

  • Txhustla15

@charlieblanko – yeah dope verse or my one of my favorites…

The day I stuck my head out my mother’s womb
    I was doomed
Repeatin’ the lords prayers sittin’ in this court room
    I’m cursed
We havin dreams of leavin here up in a hearse
I wonder when I close my eyes will it hurt?

  • RazeKane

Na…let shyne stay so he can spook that wicked nicca diddy’s azz. Vengeance is a mo’fer.

  • WTF!?!

    @Eva Montego

That’s a turn off. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE. Compare the poor in america to the poor in the caribbean.

  • ThatBKChick

Patterson pardoned Slick Rick…Give Shyne his due. The mand served his time like Slick Rick (who is actually from London and not raised in NY like Shyne).

  • resurrected

Well at least a semi black man has some real connections, hope that work for him and I hope he has a new game plan then rapping and getting back involved with Diddy..

  • Tee

    ..

  • StartOver

Shyne going home to his roots may be what is best for this young man to regroup.

If his father is reaching out he should give him a chance to make amends.

He definitely needs to stay away from Sean Combs the career killer.

  • MonstaDon

The bullet fragments in that lady’s face didn’t match Shyne’s gun. The bullets recovered in the ceiling that Shyne admitted he fired, did. The fragments matched the gun that was tossed from Diddy’s limo. Look, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand what happened. Shyne did what a soldier is supposed to do, and unfortunately, the guy he was loyal to, was a snake.

Dude has done his time…8 1/2 years of a 10 year sentence, that prolly shouldn’t have been that long in the first place. Let the man go home now.

    100.

  • http://Bossip Kimberley

Hmmm… This is a tough one. Shyne should maybe chill out in Belize for a little while. Try a little time to get to know Dad a little better since things didnt work out so well under Mom’s. Take a break for a year or so. Then come back to NY. Walking around in Puffy’s backyard might not help his cause. Puff knows what went down. So does Jen. Thats why she split with him.I know I could use a vacation in Belize right about now.

  • shortdawg

Shyne is a good rapper but his dad wants him to stay here to further his rap career…i don’t think that’s going to happen. Too many A&R’s will be too afraid to take a risk on him. Why are black people so lazy to get our sh** together…I mean, if he lived in the US since he was young, why didnt he get the proper paperwork done for his citizenship? especially when he had the money. If this was the same story about a white guy from an island, he would have had his papers. I’m sick of people coming to the US, doing wrong, with no papers, then get surprised when they get deported. You’re wasting your time living here just for the freedom, just your citizenship…until then you still not living in freedom because what ever you do and what ever application you fill out that question will always pop up.

  • http://n/a Yeah it’s me!

Send him back. you did a crime, did your time, and now it is time to go back home. Drog a fatty album and I will be the first to support cha…see ya

  • Does it really matter?!

“PRPPLE, just call me TADOW” you’re such a f—kng idiot!

  • h2theizu

Shyne Po the truth. Quasi O.G. solve that n**a if he the problem then… Po was always deep and will be deeper after bein in the Pen… His album will be better than anything out there now. He need to go to Belize tho cause if Diddy spooked he’ll have Shyne offed just like Biggie… Diddy may be b*tch made but his money keep him safe.
