Unlike other Hollyweird inhabitants, Usher refused to sell pics of his son to the media:
“In no way would I ever pimp out my child for money,” Usher [said]. “I am livid that people talk about my child.” In fact, he has posed – for free – with his son for an “incredible” Father’s Day cover for Essence magazine.
Then he goes on to profess his love for Tameka:
“I stand by her as a man loving my wife and being there for my child . . . Opinions are like [bleep]holes. Everybody’s got one. What I will say is, this is my wife and I would hope that [people] would respect my wife and my marriage and who I have chosen to spend my life with.”

I am sorry those are the reasons Tameka is getting so much heat has nothing to do with her age or her looks because to be honest if she had a beautiful personality we would not be having this conversation….But I digress, As a whole we as Black women have it hard enough fighting the stereotypes, name calling, and disrespect from other races and even our own that when we see a women who has had an affair, broke up a relationship between a mother and a son, left her family and remarried a richer man, gets pregnant (which I hate to see because they already think all we are good for is sex…other races…but not everybody), has a criminal record and to top it off has allowed him to turn against, friends and family, Like I said I cannot deal with the age and kids thing because my huspand is 13 years older than me and has a child but at least my friends and family like him, even my ex likes him (but enough about me)….that does not sit well with many of us….and perfectly understood….see it is women like that, that make it hard for the rest of us…..that is basically what people deep down are trying to get at in their comedic way.
I understand where is Usher is coming from about not wanting to “pimp” his child for the money. On the other side of that, I was also thinking that some of our Black celebrities should take decent money from certain publications for pictures of their children. People of other races’ children are making millions of dollars and getting these beautiful pictorials in magazines. I want people to see beautiful Black children “get their shine on” in a 6 page spread in a glamorous magazine. I want people to know that our children are worth million of dollars too. Yes- all of our children are our priceless. No- the money for pictures isn’t for everyone, but I want some of our folks to also rake in the bucks.

You definitely have some good points. I think people got a bad taste for Tamecka from the jump when she created the strife between Usher and his mom. Then leaving a husband, three kids, and the criminal record came to light that was all she wrote. It’s hard to gain respectibility with all that. If she had entered the picture a bit more subtle and without drama people would have taken to her more. In the grand scheme of things who the hell are we? Right? As you said, at some point all the defending will wear on the relationship. If the love is all they have attested that is is then f**k everybody else. The best thing they can do is go about their lives and quietly prove the naysayers wrong. I think the Ebony fathers day issue will be wonderful and I’m pleased Usher decided to participate. No, Usher should not have married Alicia, Halle, Kim or any of the others you mentioned. That’s not where his heart was/is. His heart led him to Tamicka so that’s where he belongs. To each his own.
In regards to Tamicka’s looks, I don’t find her attractive but that’s my personal opinion. I’m not hating on her as I’m dark skinned myself. Her skin is beautiful however her features…again my personal opinion she always looks a bit rough or hard in the face. I will say this and give credit where credit is due there was a photo op of her in either Essence or Ebony (can’t recall if she was pregnant but I believe she was)in which she looked the best I have ever seen her. Perhaps it was a pregancy glow but her facial features appeared softer.
Getting a paid a nominal / standard fee for your time is very different than shopping photos of your child to various publications with a starting price (of $500,000, $1M, etc). It’s like putting a price tag on oh well you know what I’m getting at.

I know its no one’s business but thiers but it comes with the territory when you’re going to make your living off the public’s image of you. You can’t suddenly say…”oh this part is off limits”. I say that to say that celebrities care very much about public opion and thier image or else they wouldn’t be in this business. They thrive off attention and live for the fame….most of them would adamantly deny it but its the truth (generally of course).
I say all of that to say that no, it does not appear that Usher and Tameka have the makings of a “good team” which is what a relationship/marriage ultimately is….this ofcourse from the outside looking in. They don’t seem (at least outwardly) to reflect well upon one another…but then again, thier dynamics may be different than what they portray publicly, although I doubt it very much. They seem mismatched physically, there is no outward chemistry, and then there are the facts that this woman does not get along with/respect his mother. So, from an educated, honest perspective (and also a former Usher fan…his singing was great although he resembles a monkey to me) I’m disappointed in his choice of woman.
I would have been okay if she was unattractive as she is, but she had some other redeeming qualities like a stellar character, extreme intelligence, or was accomplished in terms of her career. But again, it looks like she is a gold digger that hit the jackpot…strong controlling personality…and he probably loves it. He grabbed the closest thing to him that had some of the charachteristics that he wants, but Usher there are alot of very very attractive, strong-willed, independent, single moms out in the world if that’s what you were looking for.
i will say this in his defense…..unless you are in these people’s (celebrities) circles, it is very difficult to meet or connect with one of them. My ex was very affluent and i realized that alot of the events that we attended were closed to the public so someone that would be much more qualified or is a more suitable candidate or match for them cannot connect because they are not accessible. Usher couldn’t walk into a supermarket in my village or anywhere else without being bombarded by fans so he could never see someone like me….a doctor, early 30s, happily divorced 8 years ago, 2 wonderful privately educated children, was a professional model (I resemble Pillar from Prime Time Love)…am half Asian half black, independent, own house, own whip, and so not a groupie.
Its sad that qualified black women will never have a chance to connect with good black men (and I’m talking about charachter AND accomplishments) due to the lack of accessibility.
Oh well. All you can do is wish them luck. I am not a hater at all, but i will say that with the character that Tameka has (based on what I’ve heard of course) I do think her days are numbered as his spouse. You’ve got to have one or the other honey (looks or personality) and if you have neither, eventually he will wake up and walk away because he will find that there are women out there that have both….effortlessly.
